I like Gabby but don't think he should be wearing the armband. He never strikes me as a leader on the field. If what Hairyhands said is true, that Delph is alongside Gabby as the highest earners at the club, I'd lean towards letting him wear the armband in Vlaar's absence.
Totally agree, good to have in the squad but isn't a captain.
Vlaar is the best choice (when not injured). I think Guzan should be second choice as he always seems to be shouting encouragement at the team.

Would be a bit more exciting if he had even threatened the goal recently.
This.
Can't remember what game it was where we were losing (Could be anyone!!!!), they were singing really loud for ages then Benteke came and there was silence from the away fans and the Villa fans were inspired. Needs to get back to this.... think all he needs is 1 goal to get his confidence back and he'll be smashing them in again.
If that happens, he'll be on his way in the summer, which is a shame but his services have been very appreciated!

Can't see why Mata would come to a club like us when he'd have better options in a world cup year.
I know, just being totally optimistic! Although he might just want to walk into a first team and play every week.... which he'd do at Villa. If a "big" European club wanted him, there's a chance he'd be rotated a lot or even bench warming like he is atm.
I'm deifnately not counting on this one though!

Mata on loan
PLEASE!
That really would be an "Inspiring" and "Uplifting" loan signing.

Sunderland are meant to be targeting him in the January transfer window according to The Telegraph.
Article? Don't know why they'd sign a player they don't know when he is going to be back from injury?
I'm undecided about N'Zogbia, on one hand he's earning around 65k a week so would be good to have him off wage bill, but on the other I think he could still be very useful if he ever got back to form..... that's ambitious though.
The whole article here.
Sorry I got delayed I was trying to figure out the rules for posting articles hopefully I got it right and apologies if not.
I was reading the Sunderland fans reaction to it on one of their forums, and they're calling the guy who wrote it a 'Mag', so I'd presume they aren't keen on the idea.
I have no idea what a "Mag" is, so will assume it's an insult haha.
I think he can contribute to the team once he comes back though, or at least he's an extra attacking option.

If we don't sign anyone, worth a shot:
Guzan
Clarke, Vlaar, Donacien
Bacuna, Delph, Westwood, Carruthers
Grealish
Benkteke, Gabby
What I'd ideally like:
Guzan
Clarke, Lescott (Loan), Vlaar
Bacuna, Delph, Westwood, De Bruyne (Loan)
Sigurdsson (Loan)
Benkteke, Gabby
All loans so don't have to rush signing anyone and permenant players can be sorted in summer.Okore to replace Lescott end of season

According to this article, our wage bill last season was 70m.....can't remember who we got rid of in the summer but I still think it's probably 60m. 7th Highest in the league.
Turnover 80m (Dropped from 92m the year before!!) which is 9th Highest in league.
One "positive" is that we made an 18m loss last year according to this, year before was a 54m loss so that's a huge improvement and means should make a profit this season.
Also another "guess" at the players wages, going by this article: http://www.tsmplug.com/football/aston-villa-players-salaries/
Given (2016) = 50k
Hutton (2015) = 30k
N'Zogbia (2016) = 65k
Ireland (2014) = 70k
Bent (2015) = 65k
Total = 14.5m per year
As for the "useful" ones:
Agbonlahor (2015) = 45k
Weimann (2015) = 15k
Benteke (2017) = 60k
I think Weimann's signed a new deal since that article though.

He is going on about the fans here, but never mentions We sing Home & Away, Chant Players name.. even after something like 11 wins in 77 home games, when the team are half bothered i really do wonder what they expect? It happens at every club around country but unfortunately we have worst home record.
Here is one of the oldest players in our team, and could least show some positivity rather than saying ''we are in a relegation battle''
Well we are in a relegation battle? At least he's being down to earth about it.

Imo i think lambert should get 2of these in on loan Fabio or raphael from manure. Lescott or rodwell from citeh. Stephen taylor newcadtle. I think lambert should bring hutton back for a try cant be worse than the other fullbacks. I also put abid in for dembele or sygarsen from spuds.
Can't tell if you're being serious.
You appear to have highlighted just the one player haha.
Lescott & Sigurdsson are the only realistic signings from those....both only on loan.

Sunderland- Draw 0-0
Arsenal - Loss 3-0
Liverpool - Win 2-1
WBA - Draw 2-2
Everton - Loss 1-0
Total = 5 points, I think (Well, more hoping) Liverpool are going to hit a rough patch now and we'll be right in the middle and may get a flukey win.....As I said though, more hoping... wouldn't put any money on it haha.

Guzan - Hit. If we don't improve, a big team will sign him.
Vllar - Hit.... when he's not injured, makes a big impact on the defence.Bennett - Miss
Luna - Miss
Okore - As said, can't really be judged yet.Lowton - Average, not been the best this season.
Westwood - Hit - Been better than most people make out.Bacuna - Average, has his good games and his bad games but has been played out of position a lot.
Tonev - Miss - can only hope he gets a lot better!
El ahmadi - Average- Has had a few good games.Benteke - Hit - please oh please come back into form though!
Kozak - Hit - Personally think he's been ok... scored a few goals and mainly has been substitute.... needs someone to actually try and get on the other end of his headers though as most of the time there's no-one near him!Helenius - Miss- Only because he hasn't really been played other than league cup and a late substitute appearance... want to see him started in a PL at least once so he can properly be assessed!
Edit: Forgot Bowery-Miss... been pretty useless everytime I've seen him play!

Why are people trying to defend against the booing? They fully deserved it against Swansea as they were piss poor! As someones said already, many other clubs would have been booing a long time ago.
-
Lescott isn't being played much by City and is a Villa fan & might want to try and get into the England team next year??
That's another guess for the loan, although I'm guessing it will probably be the AM that is the loan.
Has also recently said he feels he wants to prove himself etc etc:

He never had any.
A silly, stupid yellow card puts the team in trouble for a vital game next week.
Of course, had Lambert bought a central defender with experience we wouldn't be worrying as much.
He did buy another CB, it's just unfortunate that he got injured.
-
Maloney? He's familiar and an attacking midfielder?
Kagawa! Maybe united will loan him out to get some PL experience?
I'd settle for Milner though!
-
A signing that gives the fans a lift. This would be a loan. Someone who the fans would know already and would like.
Are my prayers about to be answered???
I'd advise you have those 8 pints like your username is before a game then the signing might start looking like him

Damn this post has got me all excited! Hope it happens!

Did he get booked then or injured as left on 90 minutes?
Herd seems to have disappeared from the 18 last few games so might be injured again. We really need Vlaar fit, it's been a month now pretty much. Think HH said there was a chance he could play in the Sunderland game.
Got booked so 5 yellows in total.

^^^ LOL!
Am quite bored of that effort comment now.....I'm not seeing much effort from them, maybe 2 or 3 players but that's it.

What's Enda Stevens like? Any better? Can't remember seeing him play, should be back from his loan spell today....

Sell Gabby for £10 million.
Wage bill reduced, cash can be invested in a creative player.
Gabby is a specialist squad player. He is not doing well in a squad like Villa's where he has to be our play-maker and top scorer. He would be better in a side with a deep bench coming on as sub or played away from home in a defensive counter-attack unit.
He's on between 40-45k a week which is far less than Given, Ireland & Bent who are (obviously) contributing nothing to the team. He doesn't have to be our play-maker/top scorer at all! And Villa are a defensive counter-attacking team and he is occasionally on the bench and comes on (for example, the West Brom game) So you've just pretty much said he needs to be at Villa
Any team in the top four. £10m is peanuts. Huge value. We would be desperate to sell.
No top 4 team would want him and we aren't desperate to sell.
-
With him out it should mean that Donacien will get a go but this is Lambert we are talking about, so it will be the tried and failed Lowton or Herd at CB for Sunderland.
Hopefully he will field Donacien but I get the feeling he won't haha.... he gave Herd a load of praise in an interview not long ago so I'm guessing he will be getting picked
As for Clarke, I think him and Vlaar are by far our best option atm. Only seen Okore play once and that was against Rotherham where he didn't have much to do so can't really assess him on that! Will probably be no good when he comes back anyways as that seems to be the Villa way atm.

You are correct.... double checked and the first link is 11/12 season.
The second link is this season though.
Maybe he is trying to make that 70+ million debt back and planning on selling up with this "5 year plan" half way through or whatever.
