  1. I wouldn't care, people (Including myself) will still call it Villa park, like I still call Newcastles ground St James Park (Not even sure what its name is now?).

Even Cheltenham Town have renamed their ground from Whaddon Road to the Abbey Business Stadium...... everyone still calls it Whaddon Road.

  2. I often speak to/work with a bloke that used to be a judge on scrapheap challenge..... Now that really is a rubbish claim to fame!

Also used to work in a petrol station and often served Sue Barker as she lived nearby...... also served Geoff Hurst and a bloke from Right said Fred haha.

My PE teacher at school played for Arsenal a couple of times haha..... before playing a few hundred times for Cheltenham Town  FC lol.

  3. I think the biggest cheer was for the girl who nearly won the half time competition.

Has anyone actually won anything yet? Every attempt I've seen is further off target than a Tonev shot!

I'm gonna start sitting in the Holte End from now on. Sat in the North Stand twice this season - it's not great.

I prefer the North stand, purely because whenever I go in the Holte end I end up next to some scumbag chav screaming utter shite for the whole game...... think my favourite ever was some guy acting like a hard man the whole game shouting "we'll see what you got after the game you c***s" etc etc then mid way through the second half a bee flew near him and he screamed like a girl and was like "wtf was that!?" to which I replied ".... a bee." :D

We were losing by 1 goal and he left after about 75 mins so needless too say, the away fans didn't get to "see what he's got" after the game lol.

  4. As for my predictions:

    Cardiff (A) DRAW

    Newcastle (A) LOSE

    Norwich (H) DRAW

    Man City (A) LOSE

    Chelsea (H) LOSE

    Stoke (H) WIN

    Man U (A) LOSE

    Fulham (H) WIN

    Palace (A) DRAW

    Southampton (H) LOSE

    Swansea (A) LOSE

    Hull (H) DRAW

    Spurs (A) DRAW

    Which is 11 points!

  5. Could be worse, could have Norwich's last 4 games which are:

    Liverpool (H)

    Man U (A)

    Chelsea (H)

    Arsenal (A)

I think they may well go down! Can see Fulham going down too.... just the third team I can't decide on.

  6. Couple from the Southampton away game that made me laugh were "Is there a fire drill?" as their fans started leaving and also a few times "You only sing when you're drawing" :P

"You're just a fat Spanish waiter" was sang at Benitez last season.

Some of the loudest singing I've heard was at the Bolton home game in the McLeish era when we went 2-1 down, the whole stadium was singing "the villa is ours, the villa is ours....f*** off McLeish, the villa is ours".

  7. Spanish article linking us to that Barcelona kid, anyone translate?

    http://www.elgoldigital.com/el-aston-villa-ofrece-dos-millones-por-la-joya-del-fc-barcelona/

Pretty much just quoted what the Metro said. And said all those other teams are interested too which is probably BS.

  8. Is it just me who has never heard of some of the players we are self linking ourselves with?

Nope, same here! Although tbf I'd not heard of half our team before we'd signed them!

Only ones I'd heard of were the English lower league players as I go to the odd game :P

  9. There's also a hotel just by Star City, it's a budget hotel, possibly etap or city inn, or something along those lines. And don't forget there's the Aston Hotel right outside the ground (tesco roundabout). Not sure if they still have rooms though ?

That is one grim looking building! Think it every time I see it.

  10. chamberlain and kagawa on one page!

almost as good as the sniejder and huntelaar days

Both are young and not picked every game, could benefit from a loan to another PL team.

Not really the same as the other 2 as they are experienced World class players.

  11. Barely misses the target and knows how to finish..... FFS just play him lol.... we have the "physcial" players in Benteke and Holt to take the beating and then all Helenius would have to do in run across and slot it in which he would apparently do as he knows how to finish!

Lambert might aswell just say "He doesn't dive enough so won't win us free kicks"..... most of our free kicks are utter turd anyways!!!

  12.

I reckon they had an exciting AM player in mind but it's not materialised

I'm sure (I hope) they see the lack of creativity in the middle of the park like we all do.

Although the last two games have shown some hope that we're ready to start playing football again at last

The transfer market is such a mine field though, especially in January when clubs and agents know buyers are desperate!

I think it may of been Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain but because of the injury to Theo Walcott that didn't pull through.

I am still hoping we get someone half decent in to show some ambition but I am not counting on it :P

How can you possibly think -

    1. Arsenal would sell Oxlade-Chamberlain

    2. We could afford him

    3. He would want to come here

unfortunately the general rule is, if you like him that usually means he's good enough for the team he's already playing for.

Sorry meant to say on loan.... obviously we'd have no chance of signing him permanently!

And I think that would of been perfectly viable.... he's only 20, only played 3 times this season and would get straight into our team for a bit more experience before going back to Arsenal in the summer. Doubt he's on more than say 40k as he's not a guaranteed first team player for them....yet.
