  2. I think he should leave as he is injured for most of the season and he makes drastic mistakes that cost us!  I would like Nathan Baker and Cairan Clarke as our central defenders, no nonsense centre backs, ball comes in head it out, hoof it out, nothing fancy if its in our box get rid as far as you can none of this passing to the keeper or passing across the back as those two actions are a recipe for disaster!!!

I think you haven't seen Clark and Baker playing at the back? Chuckle Brothers comes to mind.

  3. Friedel never came for corners either though and that was never labelled against him

Friedel got away with it majorly down to the fact he had Laursen and Mellberg in defence, then he had Collins and Dunne, they were defenders told to attack the ball. Problem is none of our defenders now would attack the ball, they just spend most of their time tussling with others.

hollywoods leading special effects company...i remember looking up forex trading when we had the last lot, still non the wiser

    Surely not?

Why would a special effects company advertise on a football kit?

Not exactly their target market is it?

They are a trading company. http://fxworld.trade/

He'll be at Man United by September.

    No he won't.

    Ohhhh yes he will!

My post makes it look like I know something. I don't. I'll rephrase

"If I was putting a bet on where he'd be in September, I'd choose Man Utd"

And I think he'll be bloody good there too.

    Don't waste your money.

  6. Obbi Oulare at Bruges.  Tailor made replacement for Benteke a lot of the same attributes.  Young, has seen Benteke suceed i.e regualr National team starter and will be on less money.

I've already emailed the club about him.  Just looks like a good fit.

His fitness is a massive issue and no way ready for the PL.

I never said we were below average though. You did, either way for me he needs replacing.

No, you said he was average. Its obvious to everyone we are below average which is my point. We're a 16th-17th place side with a goalkeeper who is considered to be an average Premier League keeper which would make him more than suitable for us at the moment and our realistic aspirations for the coming season.

That's because you rate him as a 10-12th goalkeeper. I don't, I'd take Heaton over him in a flash.

Ok, but aren't we also talking about how much it would cost to replace him as well? Lets say Heaton is a considerable upgrade on Guzan. How much of our transfer budget would we have to spend to get him? 6-7 million? Butland who has hardly played a Premier League game cost Stoke £3.5 million for example.

Point being to improve upon Guzan we're going to have to spend and when there are other others far more pressing it strikes me as a waste of money.

If we have a 10th to 12th goalkeeper surely he would have many suitors. Butland was always an investment for Stoke and a future replacement for Begovic.

Even if he can't remember the exact times that Guzan has 'saved us' does that mean he needs replacing? He plays for a team that has finished consistently around the relegation zone yet i'm sure at the very least we can agree he is around 10-12th best keeper in the league.

With our aspiration of becoming a solid mid table side next year we need to be looking at other areas of the field to improve our defensive issues long before we look at Guzan.

Because there aren't any games where he has saved us which shows how average he is. He's been found out to what level he is. You mention defence, Guzan is part of the problem of that defence, so yes they need replacing.

You've just said it again though. He is 'average' but we are a club that is way below average so how does he need replacing? Surely we need to replace the 'below average' players first.

  11. I'd rather have Guzan that Chesney. Chesney is very error prone and lets in soft goals all of which got Guzan in trouble, but Guzan only had a few mistakes. We have a very good keeper, why would we get rid of him?

I don't understand the logic here. Cleverly had terrible matches numerous times this season. Agbonlahor has made a career out of only showing up for 1 out of every 10 matches. Even Benteke looked dreadful this season, but Guzan has 2-3 poor matches in the whole season and is completely out of the picture now? It makes no sense.

You say he's only had 2-3 poor games, which is fine it's your opinion. But let's turn the question around, how many games can you remember where Brad stood out and saved us this season?

  12. I rate Szczęsny quite highly myself. He just lets himself down with 'headrush' moments. His problem is overconfidence - he believes he is Neuer in dealing with certain situations and ends up looking stupid. Still has the attributes to be a very good keeper though.

Sadly, he's a better keeper than we are a football team. If he left us this summer he'd go to a club that finished higher than us

I'm absolutely certain that won't happen. If he leaves it'll be back to the MLS most likely.

Think we are in same thought process, for me Szczęsny has all the attributes to be a top keeper, something that Brad doesn't. As I've been saying Brad's footwork and kicking is a big reason why he'll just remain an average keeper.

  13.

If we put Guzan on the market, He'd be a target for a Championship club IMO.

This, by the way, is complete and utter nonsense.

It's utter nonsense you thinking he's in the top 10. Better than Howard, though he can't bypass him for the US. Name me a game this past season where Guzan has made a mark and you think god if we didn't have Guzan we'd have lost that. I think an easier way to check is the VT ratings in the match threads.

That's your opinion and you're entitled to it.

Yes but we will find out soon enough who wants Brad when Sherwood puts him up for sale in the summer.

If we're buying a goalkeeper we either need to buy a young and upcoming goalkeeper who will be happy to be second choice for a while and will develop to become better than Guzan.

Or we need a significant improvement on Guzan.

Otherwise it's just money down the drain.

Szczesny is neither of those things.

Where do you rank Guzan for the keepers in the PL? Interesting how you completely ignored the point about his kicking and generally his footwork.

I didn't ignore it. I wasn't aware we have to address every single point everyone makes.

But seeing as you asked so nicely, yes Guzan's kicking lets him down. it's probably the thing that keeps him playing for a team like Aston Villa and not a bigger club. Generally his footwork is fine in terms of positioning, but yes his distribution isn't great (although far form diabolical, which is very much OTT)

Where would I rank him? Most certainly in the top 10. I don't think Szczesny is any better. If he is (opinions and all that) I don't thin kit's a significant improvement, which was my point.

Why go out and spend the 6 or 7 million it would take to sign Szczesny for a negligible improvement in goalkeeper, when the one we have doesn't want to leave? It's pointless.

No way is he in the top 10 Stevo.

    Cech

    Courtois

    De Gea

    Lloris

    Begovic

    Forster

    Hart

    Mignolet

    Howard

    Fabianski

Even if you look at Green, Schmeichel and Heaton all from teams struggling have been praised with match-winning performances. If we put Guzan on the market, He'd be a target for a Championship club IMO.

This season I can't think of a single game where I thought Guzan saved us today and earn't us the points with some cracking games, he's an average keeper. Though I hope he is saving his match winning performance this weekend.

  18. I'd take Szczęsny if he's available in the summer, Think we could do what we did with James. My biggest issue with Guzan, his distribution at this level is diabolical. He hasn't improved on it either, In today's game you really need to be good with your feet and he simply isn't.
