Does anyone think it is worth selling Bent off to Newcastle and generate some funds? I personally do not think Newcastle will get relegated and its between us, Wigan, QPR and Reading. I am hoping we do have funds and maybe the sale of funds can generate money for a replacement from abroad. If this is the case I just hope we don't do a Liverpool with Carrol and have no-one lined up!

Take Sam Allardyce approach, his team is full of beasts!! defenders, midfielders and strikers are all tall, im not saying we should follow that per se, but even when West Ham play shit, they can hoof the ball up with a bit of conviction knowing some of their players will latch on to it, secondly they have more of a physical presence and are not lightweight, they can at the very least stand their ground when they do not ahve the ball, i would take a few of their players if we had the chance

We need an experienced CB and LB urgently. Clark is not good enough to be starting every week and shouldnt be captain he is not a leader. Bennett has been appalling and needs to be taken out the firing line to regain his confidence and work on his positional play urgently. Olsson and Dawson would be my picks. Not perfect but both are experienced and would definately improve our defence. Lowton has impressed me and although can be inconsistent for me he is worthy of the RB position

Our midfield is far to small and weak. Bannan, Delph, Ireland are not xavi, iniesta etc who can get away with lack of height and power with immense movement and the ability to work the ball in any circumstances. We just get bypassed through the middle. Scott Parker or Diame would be an ideal partnership for Westwood for me but highly unlikely to happen unfortunately.

supermon, it would be impossible to ship out all those players in one go and replace them all at the same time, you would be looking at one transfer a day between friendlies, training sessions, days off, holidays, etc, 5 at most leaving as a guestimate

most of those will just sit on contracts till expiry

I know but these players just have not performed good enough. At this moment in time i just dont see the point in having these players as squad players, awful first team contendenters and uninspiring backup, more so than last season I have a genuine fear of relegation

Is anyone else sick and tired of hearing about the villa in the media, don't get me wrong its nice to be finally recognised in a positive manner, but I kind of preferred the media slagging us off and we constantly prove them wrong. Having watched the game yesterday (not highlights), we looked like the away team from the off. The team selection (bar Benteke) indicated we were set up to try and contain what ever Norwich threw at us and hit them on the break. It was clear Albrighton, from his first touch of the ball, was not going to cut it and thus the hit them on the break idea was reduced to long aimless balls up to Benteke. Gabby was not in sync with Benteke and any ball headed down found gabby elsewhere. A good manager would have at least seen this very early doors. He didnt or chose to ignore it. We were playing defensively up to the sending off. Why bring another defender on? Couldnt we have switched delph to right back or even Holman (surely the worst footballing player on our team). Albrighton should have been taken off, Ireland taking Holmans position with Gabby filling Albrightons. Instead our manager left us to be dominated by a veryy very poor norwich squad. The problem was not the sending off, it was the Managers decision from the off to play defensively and then make it ultra defensive after the sending off.

I grow very tired of peope defending a manager who seems clueless on how to set up a team to win. Lambert chose this team and it is his responsibilty to get the best out of them. Isnt he a manager afterall? Isnt his job to get these guys on the training pitch and work on their ability to do the basics. Hold the ball, retain posssesion and make a pass when it is avaialble? He seems to have come in and done none of those things. In fact we have gone backwards like most of our passes. People can blame the owner for not investing. The simple fact of the matter is Randy owns Villa as a business and for all intents and purposes it is a failry successful one. Like any business you expect the manager you have put faith in to run it as per his job. In this case lambert is the manager of the team not Randy. Lambert is currently failing misserably at the job he is intrusted with and unless he starts to show me and all of you, he has what it takes to manage this team, then he should be given a firm hanshake and told to hit the road like any inept manager in any business.

The team put out against Norwich was not the team to win the game and we didnt. Thats Lamberts job and he failed yet again

Have to agree with this, the tactics and formation was simply woeful. I too was fully expecting gabby to play on the wing and provide us some pace and width. The 4-4-2 simply is not working. Seeing the game yesterday I saw delph and KEA occupy the same position and a huge gap in midfield between them and gabby. What happened to passing football? I saw a lot of long ball and none of the passing play which brought enthusiasm despite some losses. Yesterday was just poor all round play. I would like to see us play 4-3-3 attcking and 4-5-1 defending. That way we can mix it up with passing in the middle, plus some width on the wings. Lambert needs to sort this out asap, maybe experiment in the swindon game. I still trust in him and don't want him to leave as I can't see any one else decent taking over!

ireland needs to improve his shots on goal and needs to start chipping in with some goals, even 6-8 a season would be decent enough, this is the reason why i think lambert will sell (if and when he does) + his huge wages of course
