  1. I also really want OGS over Lambert. BUT I think if I try to be reflective on this, it's a matter of heart ruling head. OGS seems so exciting a prospect, and we're all thinking he'd revolutionise the club from top to bottom. And he might well do. I feel like a kid at Christmas when I picture this. Really. My stomach turns over, I feel my heart speeding up. It's like I'm about to open whatever is the modern equivalent of a Scaletrix set (which I never got as a kid, btw... and no, Dad, Race'n'Chase is quite obviously a cheap knock-off and not just like the real thing... ahem). Taking away that we've all fallen in love with OGS to varying degrees, I can also see the argument that Lambert is arguably the more sensible choice. I am trying to ground myself by comparing to last season's lurching from the possibility of GMac to the threat of the wally with the brolly and eventually stumbling towards the pit of despair containing the dour one...
  2. Ok. Just woken up, and had a most vivid dream that we got Moyes. Randy asked me personally to head up and escort him back to Bodymoor. He let me drive his Lamborghini on the return journey. All seemed completely plausible. 125/1 so get in before the odds come in. ITD!
  3. You raise an interesting point, Intercourse, (ha!). I think that video has a lot to do with the clamour, though. He comes across as impossible to dislike, dedicated and serious. Plus a lot of people who know a bit about him have posted on this thread singing his praises. Yeah, I'm only kind of half-serious, half-tongue-in-cheek with this I must admit, like many, the idea of OGS at the helm at VP was growing on me before the doubts over the deal emerged. Only since then, other people have said things like "I want OGS even more than Pep!" And I find myself agreeing with them! And course the club wouldn't do something like that to play the fans on purpose... or would they...
  4. Could there be some classic psychology at play here... Rather like the limited offer principle. As in when there is a threat that a reasonably attractive offer might be withdrawn, even if it is not the initially preferred offer it becomes exponentially more attractive due the fear of missing out. So, I think most people's initial reactions were to feel a bit surprised, not quite sure about the idea of OGS. I know those were my reactions. Then it might have grown on a few of us, but as soon as it seems that the possibility might be fading, the deal might be withdrawn... we're all desperate for him to come, convinced that THIS is the deal we need to make. No other option could possibly be as good. We mustn't miss out! And of course, I feel the same. What I'm wondering is... are the club doing this on purpose?
  5. I'm breathing easier; my step is lighter; my shoulders are straight and not hunched; the knots of tension in my neck are loosening; the leaden weight in my gut has melted away. And yes, I have cracked open a sneaky pre-five pm can of lager to help savour this strange feeling of calm and peace. In gif form:
  6. Saw him in what I believe was his only reserve game at Filbert Street. Dull game about which I remember almost nothing else, though.
  7. We're on our knees, enduring our worst season in recent memory, brimstone and ashes fill the Astonian skyline, the light at the end of the tunnel might just be an oncoming train... ...and we can still laugh at Small Heath.
  8. I really do have to ask, when? Every challenge like this before your team has crumbled and fallen apart without a fight. Yet another bullshit quote from a guy who genuinely doesnt appear to know his arse from his elbow! Yes, his teams have been screwed, but note that he says HE'S come through okay. Like the tough challenge of finishing in the top two in Scotland? Okay, Rangers didn't come out too well, but he got the Scotland job! The tough challenge of not getting relegated with Birmingham? Ok, they were screwed, but he got the Villa job! You've got to say he's spot on. He does come through tough challenges pretty well (it just sucks to be a supporter of one of the teams he's doing it with...)
  9. One of my favourites (as you can probably tell) I suppose that's a possibility (though I don't know how likely it is...) Or perhaps the club simply refused to give him any assurances after what read to most people like a vote of confidence, and they both know what that means. Or perhaps he's been told he's gone, but there's a substantial survival bonus. Or perhaps he's been given the run-around when discussing future plans. Or perhaps some deals in the pipeline have been pulled, as some sources seem to hint at (and AMC knows what this means). Or perhaps he's been told very firmly "just focus on the next three games" (and he knows what that means...) Or perhaps... well, it goes on. Impossible to say how it's been handled internally, of course, but I'm now firmly of the belief that both parties are acting as if they feel AMC is on borrowed time and are avoiding saying so directly by issuing the kind of carefully-worded non-statement that's generally trotted out in these circumstances. Had AMC been given assurances about his job, had the club genuinely wished to reassure him and pursue stability with him at the helm, I can't imagine things would have been phrased as carefully indirectly as they have by either party.
  10. I think because what lies between the lines of the text in the statements from both club and manager speaks very loudly indeed. I was of the opinion like many others that AMC would be here next season even after the Bolton debacle... until I read the club statement. The coy way of talking about the next three games as the only focus for the future there made me think he was teetering on the brink. Now given the way he's phrased his own response in similarly indirect terms, I don't have any doubt in my mind that he will gone very soon.
  11. How delusionally hopeful is it to hold out some small hope that AMc has actually been sent to the States to speak to this man?
