Anyone heard the comments Richard keys mentioned about Gerrard dividing the dressing room regarding mings stripped of captaincy.

My personal opinion  Gerrard is currently imitating wiley coyote just overrunning the cliff edge, he's done and will not pull this back.

Mcginns appointment as skipper has completely thrown everyone but not unexpected I suppose as he is King favourite it was always on the cards. One thing also on the cards is Gerrard failing miserably longterm. Saturday against a side in everton where are recent form has been superb he will rely on those failing favourites yet again.

I would say thanks for the memories but they have been dull and not what I expect from the villa.

OK I've woken up and and analysed what I saw yesterday and come up with this.

We have invested in players to improve and the result is we simply haven't moved anywhere, Gerrard has his favourites resulting in an uneven playing field for some squad members sanson and mings feeling the brunt of it.

Our style of play is pathetic and captaincy appointment a complete joke a player who shouldn't be in first eleven should never be captain.

It's quite simple if Gerrard does not change he's gone, if he sticks to his favourites he's gone. The pressure cooker is increasing by each game and like I've said before his belief and favourite players will not save him.

This chat is the start of the inevitable Gerrard has annoyed fans off too much he's a dea man walking, yep after 1 game of rubbish he's done and I for one am so happy he's done, system is BS the starting eleven BS and the captaincy decision beyond belief.

Sorry but this game is not for Gerrard mates it's about so mcginn and Watkins ( both very poor pre season benched)

The roles of kamara and sanson/Luiz break play and advance ball quickly to the front line, alternatively keep the ball as all capable of retaining the ball.

Anyone else alarmed how recent week has gone, traore told train with u23's, and the captain debacle.

I really think the obsession with Gerrard style and his  insistence on playing it will hamper us. Possesion football is out the window for this season, wrong personel in the system evident today.

Injuries happen no getting away with it, sanson never played DM before ?

People keep going on about signing another midfielder, why don't we try sanson out for a longer period than one game he has all the attributes for possesion based football.The guy was well sort after when he joined us and had very good stats. I agree sign players to strengthen but dismissing a player without a fair crack is beyond insane.

Talk about must be a problem when training, disruptive etc I want to see what happens on the pitch match days, I couldn't care less who trains better than others the training pitch dosnt give you 3 points it's match day that does mcginn applauded for how hard he trains yet he can't pass or retain the ball a prime example of how false the reports from training ground can be.At this precise moment I think we can get by until January keep our  powder dry and see where we are then, the squad we have is a very decent one Gerrard now needs to get a tune put of it the excuses will not wash with me this season.

The captain is the first name on team sheet normally, sends a very bad signal to give mcginn the skippers armband if he intends to leave him out this suggests mcginn will  be a regular on teamsheet.

Mcginn becoming captain dosnt change one bit that he is incapable of passing and ball retention something we as a side need.

Mcginn could end up taking the armband and villa winning games, this however will have no impact on him getting the basics right, I like most expect 3 things from mcginn.

1. Terrible ball retention

2. Terrible passing plenty of overhit pointless long balls giving opponents the chance to put our defence under pressure.

3.Guaranteed starter no matter how bad he plays.

Mcginn has been a superb player for us in the past but I cannot see him improving or moving us forward.
