Does his contract really run out this summer? Are we not leaving it a bit late to sort something out with him?

**** FFP lets just get promoted and buy everyone!

Why not? We wrote off Nyland after his first game...
Not all of us.

Why not?
United signed Ronaldo based on 1 game. He looked really good in that game, that's all i can say.
Would that be the same Ronaldo who was watched by a lot of scouts from the big clubs around Europe? He was hardly unheard of.

I would take that Blackburn keeper. Looked very impressive
You'd take a player on the back of watching him in 1 game?

As a side note, I think you're very harsh blaming Steer for the goal against Forest John, it was a cross which looped over him, no way would he have been expecting an effort on goal from that position.

Agreed, I thought he looked excellent
Yeah we're looking quite short in that department We've only got Kalinic, Steer, Nyland and Sarkic for next season!

Birmingham City play 4-4-2
Irrelevant what formation they play. Fact is we don't play 4-4-2. I don't think he's a player who could play down the middle on his own.

Unless our strategy is to stockpile keepers yo drive competition? Lol
We've done it with Right Backs in the past and it worked really well

Who's side are you on?
Sorry, you're right Micah was probably on more like £80k and Bunn on about £50k. That better?

players out of contract in summer:
jedinak - 50k
Elphick - 35k
Hutton - 30k
Whelan - 40k
Green - will be renewed
Richards - 55k
Steer - will be renewed (or hasnt it already?)
Bunn - 30k
so 240k - my estimates probably wrong though so 250k is about right...i dont think RDL is out of contract though
In my opinion some of those figures are massively out. There's no chance in hell that we're paying Mark Bunn £30k a week. I'd be amazed if he's on more than £8-10k a week. I'm sure I've also seen that Richards pay dropped to £35k a week when we got relegated?

Niall Mason: Doncaster Rovers sack defender after sexual assault
Doncaster Rovers have sacked Niall Mason after he admitted a charge of sexual assault in January.
Mason, 22, received a six-month prison sentence, suspended for two years, for assaulting a woman in 2018.
A judge at Sheffield Crown Court also placed Mason on the sex offenders' register for seven years.
A Doncaster statement read: "Rovers have cancelled the contract of Niall Mason after he withdrew an appeal against his dismissal by the club."
It continued: "Rovers opened internal disciplinary proceedings immediately following his guilty plea for a sexual offence at Sheffield Crown Court."
Defender Mason had been a regular for the promotion-chasing League One side until shortly before his court appearance in January, but was suspended following his sentencing.

I don’t think we would need a massive overhaul. It would a matter of making loans permanent signings (Abraham, mings, hause). With grealish, chester, kalinic and McGinn we have a few others that can compete in the PL. A few wingers would help though.
let’s hope the club doesn’t go on a shopping spree just for the fun of it.
IF we signed the players you mentioned and kept the others, we could arguably get away with just going for a new starting LB ,DM and either 1 or 2 new wingers. Any other new signings would be to build a competitive squad.

The transformation in our defence since Hause and Mings have arrived can’t be underestimated. They’re starting to form a nice little partnership in the middle. I’d sign both in the Summer if I was Smith, thankfully I’m not
I'm sure he'd love to sign both, I think Hause is a certainty. Unfortunately i fear that signing Mings might depend on what division we're in next season.

Middlesborough have only conceded 31 goals this season and we've scored roughly a fifth of them in 2 games!

He is the worst goalkeeper I have ever seen in my life. Had the odd stormer but consistently an absolute time bomb. A calamity at every turn (or mildly floated cross under no pressure)
They say absence makes the heart grow fonder, they say you're always a better player when you are not playing...
Well I will tell you this much, Jed Steer could go out against Boro and score 19 own goals. He could then get subbed for Kalinic who goes on to spit on my Mother in the Holte and dropkick Brian Little into the dugout. I would still not yearn for Orjan Nyland to come back. You are the worst goalkeeper in England.
You are nothing, you are a fool and you are a waste of time.
Goodnight.
Are you ok hun?

Personally I hope we can replace him and move him on during the summer. He's not the player he was since his injuries and I don't think his heart is in it anymore. Doesn't play like he's enjoying himself anymore.
I think a transfer is best for both parties.

Exactly this. He's the Glenn Whelan of left backs. I also agree that he's not arsed. He has 5 kids and I'd say he knows his career is done and he's made enough money to provide for them.
Wiki says 2 kids?

He's like a cheat code at this level.

If we were to win our next 5 on the bounce - it would still only put us on schedule to reach the 6th place points from last season.
So?

Looking at the way we've done this previously, I suspect it's possible there will be a write-off of value on the training ground because of HS2 along with some compensation money for the same, and I think it's possible we can also write off the cost of redevelopment.
So, say the training ground is worth £5m less, because the corner now has a train track through it, then we can write that off our losses - and then if we get £4m from the Govt to compensate that, then we can add that to our top line and it'll help, and if we spend £3m on new pitches at the end of the training ground that isn't full of choo-choos, we can write that off against our losses too. That would be £8m off the losses and £4m on the top - it'd make a decent sized difference.
Of course, I know the best part of diddly squat about this stuff, I'm not an accountant, I'm a confused dreamer looking to justify the confidence of our CEO - is any of it possible?
What would you charge to do my accounts?

He is one of a few who are out of contract at the end of the season, that I would offer a contract to. Especially as it's rumoured that Nyland wants to leave. If we're still a Championship side next season, I'd also try and shift Kalinic, and promote Sarkic to be Steers backup.
Not a chance they will move Kalinic n when he only signed in January.

Comments on here are really harsh. The lad is 23, he's played a handful of games in the last 9 months and played as a right sided CB when he's left footed. Give him a break for God sake. Made a couple of bad decisions but they didn't cost us. Chester has been making mistakes all season, guess we should get rid of him too. For £2/3 million i think we'd be extremely foolish to not buy him in the summer.
