Exactly this. Ederson is even the last player.

Ederson was clearly attempting to kick the ball not the man unlike McGinn.  It's a yellow if it's in the box and a penalty.

Why are we setting up to limit them at all?

    that’s the issue I have

I'm just not sure we have the personnel to play the usual way today so had to rejig it somehow.  I don't think we set out to get a 0-0 or a sneak a 1-0 really.

Another game and he's nowhere to be seen. About 5 or 6 in a row now.

Is he injured, has he been sold and he's going in the summer.

Something's changed, his levels have dropped off a cliff. He's gone from controlling the midfield to being invisible.

How many games ago did Kamara get injured?

I actually thought Dougie looked lethargic today.

Yeah he can't be starting on Thursday.  We need to give Tim his chance and McGinn owes us a performance (to say the least), bring Doug on for half an hour if needed.

  5. You could tell by his reaction that he knew he'd **** up and fully deserved it.  He was looking to pass the armband on before VAR had even checked it.  He will be devastated in the dressing room though, I'm sure about that and he owes an epic performance on Thursday.

  6. He needs to play on the right, he just didn't seem comfortable on the ball and was wasting too much energy chasing lost causes when pressing.  I think you have to get him one-on-one against the full back cutting in and realise you may only get 70 minutes-worth out of him, he only has so much gas in the tank so you have to get the best out of him.

  7. I'm trying to think who I'd have played on the left in order to play the usual formation and struggling.  The best I can think of is Moreno ahead of Digne.  Diaby and Zaniolo seem like wastes of skin at the moment and I'm not sure about Rogers defensively.

  8. Let himself and the team down.  That's massively damaging, as was Kamara's red card.  Time for Tim to step up, Dougie looked knackered and surely can't play on Thursday.

Can anyone enlighten me to who the dour commentator is on my stream? Never a good thing to say.

    Why isn't Hendrie commentating?

Don Goodman the doghead on Sky, I assume it's the same for you.  It's criminal I pay for Sky and have to watch it in silence.

  10. Very tactical first half.  I was a bit worried to start with but it seemed to click after that.  Just unfortunately lost our footing or miscontrolled when we've done the hard work, hopefully second half we can get going in the final third.

    Ndidi as cover for Kamara?

He was highly rated a few years back but seems to have fallen off a cliff - maybe needs a move. The ability is there.

Could be worth looking at on a free.  I can't say I've really watched him much, is he better than Dendoncker?

  12. It seems a little unfair that the FA wanted us to host Euro 28 matches with the capacity up above 50k but at the same time we will be a bit buggered by the rules if we go ahead with the North Stand.  Stuck between a rock and a hard place.  You'd think we could make a case on that basis to be exempt from part of the FFP rules or at least be allowed to take the loss of income from having one stand less for two years into account.  Maybe the FA can lobby on our behalf to the Premier League?

Ajax with a starting line up that i believe includes a 17 year old centre back

    Standard Ajax then innit?

Wonder if we are going more 4-3-3 than normal.

I may be wrong, but I don't think we should be relaying on two players with very little first team experience going into our first Champions League campaign.  We will need a step up in quality in the overall squad depth.

Nedeljkovic would probably have more Champions League experience than 90% of the squad 😉

I could see us looking to sell Tim like we did with the other youngsters.  Might get £10m for him?  Then sign a more experienced central midfielder on a Bosman.  Does Tim actually count as homegrown in Europe?

So what is the current plans for VP? Adding a few thousands seats to the seating bowl, doubling the club shop in size, converting the academy building into the warehouse, establishing a better traffic system and waiting for news on the redevelopment of Witton Station. This seems to be the short term plan.

The club have played a blinder getting VP as a Euro 2028 venue without the major construction that was planned (if the North Stand isn't redeveloped), which is very frustrating to me as I liked the ideas and the symbol of progress it represented. I don't think the pause is solely on Heck, I think it would have been delayed by Purslow or whomever replaced him too.

Is it possible they will redevelop the North Stand before EURO 2028?

I'm surprised the FA haven't kicked up a fuss about us not delivering the stadium we offered in the bid with 8000 fewer fans and out-of-date facilities.  They left out Old Trafford, the second biggest ground in England because it isn't up to scratch.  I wouldn't be surprised if we got stripped of it and it got given to Leicester or someone else.  I'm not really sure Heck would be that bothered about it, I mean how much do clubs actually make from being hosts?

I’d love him at Villa tbh (probably one for the unpopular opinions thread).

Me too, he and Wan Bissaka are the only 2 of their players that I'd have at Villa.

If all clubs are under pressure, maybe more sensible transfer fees and player salaries would help everyone out?

It does seem there is a smaller and smaller pool of clubs that could spend the kind of money it would take to buy Doug or Emi.  Well, more have owners wealthy enough, just the rules are starting to bite and will stop them, which is the daft thing.

Selling the naming rights to Villa Park does seem like an attractive money grab right now.  You'd think we could get some profit for Cash, maybe Digne, get rid of Coutinho's wage, sell a few more young lads, the Adidas deal, hopefully Champions League income.  I'm not sure what all that would add up to.

  18. He has lost Kamara alongside him remember.  He and McGinn are having to create a balance between themselves in central midfield and they both looked pretty knackered by the end of the game.  It's not ideal that both will probably have to play nearly every minute of every game from now on.

So none of you had parents who sat grumbling watching top of the pops and saying it's all noise. I stress you have all turned into your parents.

Top Of The Pops used to actually have quite a diverse group of acts on it so there was almost always something that somebody in the family liked and you were exposed to different types of songs from the top 40.  I think it helped develop your music taste at a young age, these days I'd have thought that things like Spotify just feed kids the same sort of songs unless they go out of their way to listen to a more mixed playlist.
