P.S. I really don't want a penalty shootout

Unai is really having to earn his wage at the moment, I don't envy having to choose teams for these next couple of games.  Really testing the squad to the limit.  Maybe go full strength and hope that attacking the Holte in the first half can produce a couple of goal margin to take the likes of Doug off at half time.  West Ham is a minging match to follow it up with too.

setup was entirely the problem. Even the 2nd goal was caused by Konsa not having options due to how congested it was 

Just out of interest, what midfield would you have chosen?  I was thinking maybe McGinn out left with Tim and Doug in the middle.  A massive call that one.  I have no faith in Zaniolo out left, Rogers didn't look that great positionally and tracking back on the left vs Luton.  Maybe Diaby could find a new lease of life on the left?  Maybe a straight swap, Tim for Ramsey.  I'm not sure out wide would suit his playing style though.

True, I also just don't see who we could have used in Ramsey's role today if we stuck with the usual formation.  I think of the different options and none of them fill me with confidence.

The thing is he did a perfectly good 'hard' challenge just before on the other wing.  Perfectly safe, strong and got the point across.  He just pushed the envelope way too far the next time.

How to Liverpool keep running round like this?  I swear they've all been sprinting round for the whole match.

Ederson is literally swinging for the ball when the Liverpool player gets there.  McGinn just boots Udogie from the side for some unknown reason.  It's pretty **** obvious.

Ederson was clearly attempting to kick the ball not the man unlike McGinn.  It's a yellow if it's in the box and a penalty.

I'm just not sure we have the personnel to play the usual way today so had to rejig it somehow.  I don't think we set out to get a 0-0 or a sneak a 1-0 really.

Something's changed, his levels have dropped off a cliff. He's gone from controlling the midfield to being invisible.

Yeah he can't be starting on Thursday.  We need to give Tim his chance and McGinn owes us a performance (to say the least), bring Doug on for half an hour if needed.

You could tell by his reaction that he knew he'd **** up and fully deserved it.  He was looking to pass the armband on before VAR had even checked it.  He will be devastated in the dressing room though, I'm sure about that and he owes an epic performance on Thursday.

He needs to play on the right, he just didn't seem comfortable on the ball and was wasting too much energy chasing lost causes when pressing.  I think you have to get him one-on-one against the full back cutting in and realise you may only get 70 minutes-worth out of him, he only has so much gas in the tank so you have to get the best out of him.  

I'm trying to think who I'd have played on the left in order to play the usual formation and struggling.  The best I can think of is Moreno ahead of Digne.  Diaby and Zaniolo seem like wastes of skin at the moment and I'm not sure about Rogers defensively.

I had to go Cash for MOTM, it was a real struggle choosing one.  Probably the best ref's performance I've seen all season, so can't even blame him.

Let himself and the team down.  That's massively damaging, as was Kamara's red card.  Time for Tim to step up, Dougie looked knackered and surely can't play on Thursday.

I've had to switch the commentary off and watch in silence.  Now they've got Daniel Sturridge analysing at half time, rubbish.

Very tactical first half.  I was a bit worried to start with but it seemed to click after that.  Just unfortunately lost our footing or miscontrolled when we've done the hard work, hopefully second half we can get going in the final third.

Cash is in the team to bait Romero into a red card.  Genius.

It seems a little unfair that the FA wanted us to host Euro 28 matches with the capacity up above 50k but at the same time we will be a bit buggered by the rules if we go ahead with the North Stand.  Stuck between a rock and a hard place.  You'd think we could make a case on that basis to be exempt from part of the FFP rules or at least be allowed to take the loss of income from having one stand less for two years into account.  Maybe the FA can lobby on our behalf to the Premier League?

I went for Frank but I mainly hate the way he chews his gum with his mouth open.
