If he leaves, I still like him although I do admit, part of me still wants him to fail at Man City. Like a jilted ex-husband who's still in love with his ex wife and so wants her new relationship to fail. But otherwise, still wants the best for her.
That’s dark. You alright hun?

What ?????
Hardly any transfers are paid all up front. Haven't been for years.
My point is, we have the capacity to offer very attractive payment terms. That will be of greater overall value to some teams depending on their circumstances. Our boys know what they are doing. We should trust them.

Think they’d want £40m at least for Jwp but probably closer to £50m - to bid £25m is ridiculous
Let’s not forget, this may not just be about value. What’s better, £40m paid in equal instalments over a 5 year period or £25m up front? The answer is, it totally depends on the position you find yourself in. Cash is a very important commodity for all businesses. We have it thanks to our owners and thus adds a different dimension.

25m for JWP and £30m for ESR.
We're actually embarrassing ourselves.
I’m not having a go mate but why do you think we are embarrassing ourselves?

If we did flat out reject the offer we would of it straight away.
We are 100% in negotiations
Yep. Your offer is not enough. Come back when it is £150m………..

Reading this thread and some of the rubbish on Twitter is enough to make any player want to leave our magnificent club. It’s also enough to convince any potential new players to go somewhere else.
People need to grow up and get a grip. Jack will probably stay. If he doesn’t he will leave for a huge amount of cash and have been a massive part of helping us back to where we belong. Some people need to stop acting like jilted teenagers and enjoy these issues. Can you not remember three years ago when we nearly ceased to exist?

This will only happen if they meet our valuation. If they don’t, then he isn’t going anywhere. If they do, then our leadership obviously think it’s too good to turn down. I trust them. Whatever happens will be for the greater good of AVFC.

Half a tempting offer that.
Precisely. Make it £200m and we can talk

I never thought City would go as high as £100m! That’s an interesting turn in events. I assume that we will tell them to do one but how far will they be prepared to go? Not even £150m is enough at this stage in our progression. He needs to stay for at least one more season.

The words you are looking for NSWE are “jog on bitches!”

Maybe, you’re right. I hope you are. I just think if reports were incorrect, we’d have heard about it by now. Villa have their own journos. I think Percy would have been fed a little something to say it’s all rubbish that we’re negotiating. Because like people have said, it affects our transfer business.
Nobody has said we are negotiating. It just says the clubs are communicating. What does that even mean? Most likely, will you sell us Jack for £60m?…………….ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ……now please do one!

We have no power. If he wants to go he can just refuse to play to force it through.
He won’t do that. It would be awful PR and he loves football way too much.

On balance I think you are about to lose that money sadly.
No chance. We hold all the cards. He only goes if we want him to. If NSWE are true to their word then Jack stays. City do not pay the transfer fees necessary to sign him.

Back to 11/8 now to stay at villa. Just had another £100 on it. Money for old rope.

There’s some real nonsense being spouted on here today. Who the hell do you think our owners are? I totally trust them to get this right, which almost certainly means Jack is going nowhere. Man City can fawn after him as much as they like. Nas, Wes and Purslow have got this! End of.

The fact that the club have offered him a new contract and he still haven't signed is a bad sign.
It means he is considering his options, and we don't like that. As Villa fans we'd like to think this would be an easy decision for him. But it clearly is not.
Lots of rather large leaps there!

He is not going anywhere. We hold all the cards. This will not happen. I am 100% certain of that fact. No in the know just good basic common sense.

About 3 hours of grown men displaying totally unwarranted hysteria!

He clearly isn't though.
He can play the DCM role better than any of our other options. He can tackle, uses the ball well, reads the game well and although he is not fast he can press effectively. Not earth shattering but could be a vital piece of the overall transfer jig saw.
-
I have been expecting these links to Hughes. Shakespeare is a massive fan and Hughes only has a year left on his contract. He will be much better than any of our current midfielders when taking the ball from the defenders, on the half turn and feeding our attackers. He is not maybe what we were all hoping for but for less than £10m it is a clever bit of business. Hopefully this will mean (if it does happen) that we can sign a couple of more high profile players too.

I am kind of intrigued to see how much Jack would improve working with Pep every day. Only one thing for it. We’re gonna have to create a new assistant role!

Is anyone else bothered by the rumours we're going to offer him £200k pw to stay? We've not won anything with him for him to earn that kind of money from us. I think that sets a rather dangerous precedent for any incoming stars we chase in the near future.
He would earn more elsewhere. He is worth it. He is so key to us.

There’s no way Jack is leaving this summer. This is why. His only likely destination is City.
If there is no release clause, then I do not think we sell at any value. If there is a release clause, you would have to assume that it is at least £100m. City are not paying £100m for another attacking midfielder when they so desperately need a striker.
It is not happening. Lump your money on him staying at Villa. It’s free money people!

Great. Looks like he will be staying then. Phew!
