to be honest, i cant decide how he did versus everton.
Didnt do anything wrong but didnt seem to be in the game much, cant complain, but also dont think he lit the pitch up like some of the others.
maybe not noticing him showed he did ok?
Anonymous first half but really grew into the game after the break. We really do have all the key parts to do ok we just need it all to kick.

Such a thoughtful, intelligent man. A total leader. It also helps that he is absolutely ace at football.

He and Mings are brilliant. Best partnership for years

Absolutely superb tonight against a very good defence. Can we please cut him some slack now and give him a chance. This kid has got it all

Started badly and I feared the worst but grew as the game went on and he looks like a decent prospect , love the slide tackles , not seen them since Mark Delaney
Classic Delaney at the end. Totally loved it

Total Villa love in on Sky tonight. Loving it. The fans were absolutely rocking. We are back boys

We really need the win for our own confidence. Some of our football is splendid at times. We are way too narrow in defence at times which is nothing new.
Anyway......Come on you Villa boys

Why are people talking about relegation after only 2 matches? Ridiculous! I hope the players have got a bit more stomach for the fight!

He might have shown for it but he certainly didn't manage to stay in front of the defender when the ball was played.
He was up against a top quality defence protected by a top quality midfield. Not only are they quality players but they are also extremely physical. It really was a baptism of fire that he will be the better for having survived it.
He showed enough for us to be optimistic. I genuinely felt that the referee let him down at times, allowing him non existent protection. We need to have some patience here.

Best debut from a centre half for years. He was so good. If he and Mings stay fit we will be sorted in central defence.

I actually thought he did really well against Spurs. He get virtually no protection from the referee. He went down no easier than Kane but did not get the protection he deserved.
He also never failed to get in front of his defender and show for the ball. Those defenders are big, strong and also top quality. He more than made himself a nuisance and made good decisions. When he got hold of the ball he used it well. He will never have experienced anything like what he had to experience against Spurs. He will be better for the experience. He gave all that he had to give but he will get fitter and stronger.
This kid, like all the rest of our players, deserve time and they deserve our support. Some of the comments made about him have been embarrassing. Our greatest strength as a club is our unity. It has been at it’s strongest for years and we must retain it all season.

I thought he did well in the first half but he faded badly after halftime. I think we all need to remember who we were up against today. Pretty much all of their players are better than ours and therefore it was always going to be tough. We did ok considering. AEG and the rest of the lads will be better for the experience

He is quality. He and Mings, if they stay fit, are tailor made for the premier league

I wonder if we will now have a chat with Sturridge? Kodjia looked way out of his depth today. I think Wesley showed enough and I also rate Davis but on a short term deal, Sturridge could prove useful

He was exactly what we needed for the last 20 minutes. Has a big part to play.

He did well. Solid debut

Still trying to work out if Wesley is not at full fitness, picked up a knock or just a lazy word removed
Have a word with yourself mate. First game in PL away at Spurs and he has been kicked off the park. He has worked his socks off and has never stopped showing for the ball. Let’s get behind him

Why can't we ever have a reliable LB? Not sold on this guy, or at least expected more.
Come on mate. Let’s give the boy a chance. I actually thought he did quite well today but there is clearly more to come. We are in the best position we have been in for years and it’s time for us to play our part. They deserve our support come what may. Let’s get behind all of them for the entire season. If we do, it could be special

He’s a total baller. He so reminds me of big Stan. I know Collymore didn’t really work out for us due to his poor mental health but there’s no doubting the ability he had. Really feel that Wes has a similar level of ability and also a similar game. Very exciting indeed.

Thought this was worth a bump. What these guys have achieved and the money that they have spent in 12 months is nothing short of miraculous. I have never been so excited about a new season and these guys are absolutely the driving force behind that optimism. A big thanks and well done from me. I work all over the UK and no matter where I am people want to talk about what is happening at B6. We are firmly back on the map.

He is such a good player. His goal was everything he is about. Hustle, bustle, energy and loads of class. Love him

He doesn't bloody score! Ever. What use is a forward who can't score, and who rarely assists.
He might be worthwhile in the dying minutes of games to hold the ball up and see the match out, but we can't afford to be playing a striker who has no hopes of scoring goals.
If we want to stay up, we shouldn't have a striker as poor as Keinan Davis regularly playing. Best for everyone if he goes out on loan and gets the chance to try to add more to his game, IMO. He's nowhere near good enough for the Premier League at this point.
He helps us to sustain attacks and play much higher up the pitch. This not only leads to chances created but also takes the pressure off the defence. We were so much better today when he was on the pitch.
I agree that we need a striker to score goals but he is young and his game will develop in time. Wesley is Nr 1 because he already has goals to his game as well as good all round play but Davis is next in line. If Kodja or Hogan play, the ball just comes straight back. We have much more chance of thriving in the PL if he plays rather than the other two.
In my opinion your post is fairly aggressive and somewhat ignorant. Have you played football at a reasonable level? Your opinion is very binary and life is rarely like that.

He is the best young striker we have had for years. He leads the line so well for a young man. I think he should be next in line after Wes.

I am away on holiday with the family so had to make do with watching the match on the iPad. The thing that really stood out to me (and was also commented on by Sky) was the support. The crowd were unbelievable. We haven’t had support like that for years and you could really see it lift the players.
I really believe that we are potentially on the cusp of something special. What we really need is to just stay up this season. If we can do that then we can/will really kick on. The crowd can really play their part with that. Well done to all who attended tonight. The atmosphere was electric. I actually felt pretty emotional watching it. It really was special. I thought Gary Neville was gonna rip his Oxford cotton shirt off and reveal a Villa shirt underneath, such waS his enthusiasm for the club. Really fantastic.
