I don't understand why we don't bring him back and play him?

The amount of players we loan out who could do a job for us is shocking. This club is so mismanaged.

Because loan deals often include a fee, whether that be for the loan or an optional signing fee, when that's the case often clubs will agree to eliminate the ability for recalling as to not jeopardise that fee, if a club insists on including a recall option, the loaning club will forgo paying a fee. It's only really with youth players who are loaned out to gain experience that can be recalled, as there less likely to include bigger fees, I imagine that St. Etienne gave us £1m or so to loan Veretout, hence we can't recall.

Edit: In fact, here's a line from a Bham Mail piece about Bruce monitoring our loanees for next season, "Bruce was unable to recall either player in January as part of the arrangements made prior to his October arrival."

just about every pundit on the planet, says the same thing....Steve Bruce us the right manager, the project, need time.

    are they all wrong?

The same was said for Sherwood, but it was painfully obvious to those who actually watched the games that he was out of his depth, I wonder how many of these pundits have been subjected to our last 8 games? I'm willing to bet not many. I'm also willing to bet that if this was Di Matteo, or Garde was still here from last season, the pundits wouldn't still have confidence in them like they do for Bruce.

What kind of bonehead would agree to that sort of contract? Almost certainly not the case that we have to play him. More of a case of Bruce feeling that he has to stick with his boy since he shipped out the number 1 he inherited.

When Pique was loaned to Zaragoza from United, there was a clause that he had to play in at least 20 games, it's not unheard of.

Sorry but why do they have to be foreign......Do you not remember Remi Garde or Dr Jo Venglos or does going foreign just guarantee success?

Well, not just foreign, but we seem to always have to go with Premier League and now Championship experience when there are potentially some very good managers abroad, or even in the lower leagues (though I can't think of an example of someone putting their name in lights right now), that we ignore for some arbitrary reason. Good managers are good managers, and we should be trying to find them.

Bielsa and Mancini don't have jobs currently, a bit fanciful yes, but why not throw money at them to see if they'd come? Mancini almost joined Notts County when Sven was there, so why not join a team that would be 2 divisions higher? Instead of restricting ourselves to the same old tired English managers, why not look for someone with a good reputation abroad?

Is Prandelli the guy who supports Villa? If so, maybe he would be interested.

Yes, he is, would be a decent shout. Got to say, names like Rowett/Warnock/Warburton are depressing, take a chance and just throw some cash at a foreign manager, can't do much worse that what we've had to endure over the last 6 years.

thats not realistically going to happen.

Assuming it doesn't, then lets back him all the way to Christmas, rather than change manager again

Isn't it? We're only 7 points above the drop zone and have picked up 2 points in our last 8 games (assuming we don't come back tonight, which I can't see), we're rocketing toward League 1 currently, something needs to change.

  7. The social media thing is weird, it's almost as if there has to be at least one negative view, one positive and one neutral, regardless of what happened. Just had a game where Ayew got a hat-trick, and one of the items was "Bit too much hype around Ayew, he was good not excellent." as well as  "Ayew was good? Can't see it myself." What the **** were you expecting?

Then again, they are Villa fans :P

Edit: They definitely need to improve this social feed stuff, apparently after beating Newcastle 4-2 one of the fans said: "people watching football for entertainment should find a new hobby." Err...

Not to mention another Ayew hat-trick failing to satisfy the fans

Not saying that, just annoying our ex players are scoring for others but were shit for us

Fair enough, wasn't having a go, just I see it a lot as if Sinclair scoring for Celtic means he's suddenly amazing.

Sinclair and Clark both scoring today :(

I don't really get this sentiment about Sinclair, not just on here but from football fans in general, that him doing well means we've lost some great player that could help us currently. He's playing against League 1/2 level opposition, the standard in Scotland is atrocious. I was at their game v Motherwell a couple months ago in the cup, they won 5-0 and Motherwell were possibly the worst team I have ever seen, could hardly string together more than two passes, our team from last season could've beaten them by a few goals.

I think Durham on talksport did a pre game piece on him today, I only caught a slight recap of it during the commentary, apparently statistically is crossing is awful, something like 4/25 won by a Leicester player but TS were saying he's one of the best crossers in the league

His crosses have always been awful, they look fancy and he puts curl on them that makes you think they're good, but they rarely beat the first man.

    Absolutely disgusting isn't it?

    Also not actually true.

If you don't arbitrarily cut off the Bournemouth game to make it worse, it's 8 in our last 55. Not saying it's good, but why lie to make the shitshow look even worse?

Why do people keep saying 'he refused to play for the club'

No he didn't, he refused to sit on the bench while Lescott and Richards were getting routinely picked by Eric Black despite them consistently putting in the most insipid performances the league has ever seen.

He wasn't right to do what he did, but don't rewrite history!

Not to mention he denied that he refused to play (or sit on the bench), as well as most evidence pointing to Black being a bit of a dickhead.

Ha! Okore, what a loser. All the chat last season, refusing to play for the club, thinking he was bigger than Villa. Well he's getting his champions league football.....for one round. If there is one player who is living in his own hype bubble, at least Bacuna is humble enough to knuckle down and fight for his place.

Unless I've missed something, aren't the Sun (and those quoting the Sun) the only ones talking about that? There not exactly the best source for truth...

Not 100% what he's trying to say here. Anyone?

That West Ham fans sit too far away from the pitch in the new stadium I believe, that the atmosphere will be better.

Or possibly that he didn't think the quality was great, therefore if we got promoted the Europa won't be far away.

He won't score more than 10 goals at this rate

Needs to be up front and not Kozak id rather us sign an AM than use him as one

He has 1 in 4 games, if he plays 46 games he'll get 11 goals at that rate ;):P

I feel like you're remembering one pass, which I also vividly remember, and not the whole performance.

I hate the phrase "I'm not his biggest fan" but I am a Westwood critic. However last night he was heavily involved in all of the good play for the first hour. He's not a defensive midfielder though, so when Tshibola continued to look decent when we under the cosh Westwood was fairly anonymous. It's at that point that even somebody like Sanchez would have made a big difference. Or Jedinak, of course.

Overall I've been impressed with him so far, I think he has found his level. It's a long season and I think he will have a big part to play.

I know which one you're on about, but I'm not just thinking of that one pass, I was thinking it pretty much throughout the entire game, the one that got intercepted was just a particularly bad example. On the whole I just felt like it was all a little too slow, I remember Grealish or Bacuna often having to almost stop their runs to control a pass behind them. By the time pretty much any pass Westwood made over 10 meters got to the intended target, the ball was almost stopped.

The rest of the game he was good, I just felt he had a bit of an unusually poor game for passing.
