  1. Stephen Ireland is the epitome of what is wrong with the world today.

~3.5 million sterling per year is being handed to this utter waste of space.

There are people working 50 times harder in third world countries earning 350 US dollars per year.

Clubs should be learning from this and be offering at least 50% of the salaries bases on appearances & performances.

Waiting for the players to accept those terms....

    100k now :)

The problem with tables like this is embedded in ddid's comment above. People tend to solely look at one single point on the distribution, the expected value. The story is in the distributions.

Ofcourse, if you do this many times during the season, changes in expected value are interesting.

  3. Thanks for the input so far guys.

It will be a family car used for UK holidays etc for me the misses, a child under one and everything that goes with them and a dog plus hopefully another kid within the time we own the car.

So the space of the A6 is appealing especially on the deal I've been offered.

I do need to park in a multi-story car park every day though which concerns me a little from Blandy's comment.

I like the more sporty feel of the A4 but think I'm swayed to the A6, both are the Avant models.

    Good point on tyres/servicing Chrisp.

Choffer, if you are seriously looking at A6's I'm happy to share on PM details of the deal they've offered.

    Any more input welcome guys.

A4 is too small for this use, unless your dog is tiny.

  4. In addition to covering costs, travel insurance also makes things easy in case something happens. For example, your insurance company can provide you with a list of clinics they have agreements with, that can bill the insurance company directly. This way you don't have to use your credit card limit, or pay in cash.

And the clinic will treat you well, knowing they can charge the insurance company. So, it's additional quality aswell.

I suppose 6 pounds is a bit suspect, I have to say. I'd read the fine print carefully.

  5. I think one of the biggest positives so far has been our defense.

Before any games were played, I thought we definitely needed another central defender, but now I think we're set for this season. Okore is sooo good, and Vlaar is, well ok, beside him. If Vlaar starts slipping or gets injured again, Baker and Clark are capable to fill in. Especially Clark looks improved from last season.

Our LB position is very much improved by Luna. And I believe Bennet will do fine when he needs to step up. He's ok when there's not too much pressure and can continue to develope.

Lowton has surprisingly been the sleeper so far, but I have total faith in him when the level of our opposition gets down a notch. And Bacuna should be ok every now and then.

All this has calmed our defense down a lot, and brought stability to our game.

  6. I love both, size is the difference maker. To me size means the feeling of space inside a car, and A6 is great in that regard. Also, if you have a family and need to transport golf bags etc. Personally I don't think A6 is too big to drive in the city. For a single guy A4 is more sporty, and a bit more affordable. Had no major problems with two A6's I've had. Both 2,4 Liter V6 engine.

  7. I can't believe some of you are suggesting not to have travel insurance. It costs next to nothing, and it may save you a boatload of money and trouble if something happens.

I was in Aiya Thekla three years ago, and got high fever for five days. Had to go to a hospital and see a doctor every day, take tests and whatnot. Nothing was found, it was just a virus. The bill was around 1K. Glad I paid around 30 pounds for the insurance.

I love Cyprus, but it's not out of this world. You might just break a leg.

And hey, take more cash than normal with you. After seeing their recent figures, it's not all good in the economy and banking system.

  8. I can't be bothered with Ireland anymore.

Since there was no manager when he was signed, Randy should take the blame explicitly on his shoulders and simply exclude Ireland's wages from the wage budget he has given to Lambert. Or some other way take out Ireland's effect on our future plans. Ireland will affect our P/L, but he shouldn't affect Lambert's plans. I think that would be fair.

Then we could close this thread.

  9. Maybe it is because he has only played that much since he came but he doesn't look as quick as some suggest, he did link up a bit better last night i thought but he is still a bit greedy at the moment. As i said in the match thread you could forgive him if he was causing trouble with his shots but they are so far wide and high and it gets annoying.

Were 2 weeks into a season though so can't draw any conclusions atm and i think in time he'll learn the team ethic here and reign in the shots a bit hopefully.

But if/when he starts pulling back his shots and passing to his team-mates, he won't be using his strengths anymore. What's left of him anymore that's so great?

Ok, I'll shut up now. Enough of the negativity. Hope he gets some minutes and improves.

  10. What did you guys think of Tonev today? I liked him more after all the YouTube clips than I do now. Now I think he thinks he's better than he is. He tries to be a hero and score by himself. He has no connection with his teammates on the attack. When he doesn't shoot he has no idea what to do with the ball, which result in silly passes. I thought he was very disappointing, and in a kind of a way that I don't think it will turn around. He's just not good enough for the role he's seeking.

    nothing like an overreaction

It was, and still is, more like a prediction than a reaction. I've seen enough of him not to have high hopes, unfortunately. Hope he proves me wrong, but I doubt it.

  11. Agree with Trent.  I think like Collins, Vlaar gets undeserved flak for his performances.  For where we are now, Vlaar is a good player.  In 2 years time I think Okore will replace him and Baker will be his partner.

Okore will surpass him in two months time.

  12. Yeah they won't, but they'll work for Lambert's team better. Bent is clearly an outstanding goalscorer and his positioning will mean he'll do it and basically any club, no matter how bad. Problem is we need someone with a bit more about him. Thank God we have Benteke.

Not sure if I dare say this here, but I hope Benteke starts doing more of that extra work in the next few games, since I haven't been all that happy with his game, or work rate, so far.

Ha ha - Criticise the monster & on VT too? :)

    You're a brave man Tuco. :P

I predict you'll soon be getting a fistful & that it definitely won't be dollars. ;)

I expect nothing less... although I'm doing it in a Bent thread, so maybe not so brave after all ;)
