Talking of managers who would've taken over, what about Jupp Heynckes.. After all he had just won everything in the European game available to him that season, with a team a similar stature of utd.

Tangent, but I love Heynckes because of his managing tenure at M'gladbach in the 80's with guys like Matthaus on the line-up. Well, except for that second leg 4-0 loss to Real at Bernabeu... still hurts.

Now I've watched Flight and I really liked it. And I think that now, Denzel Washington is my favourite actor of all times. Flight, 8/10, Denzel Washington in Flight 9.5/10.

 

Yesterday I watched The Good, the Bad and the Ugly again for the first time in years. I really like that film. It's the 2nd time I watched the uncut version. The cut off scenes were not that good and I can understand why they were cut off in the first place. But there's something strange with Tuco's voice in those scenes. It's like in the original cut his voice was worked with, which couldn't be done in the edited scenes. Anyone knows anything about that?

I haven't seen the uncut version, but I'll try to watch it some day now that I have something interesting to look for.

His voice was a little strange in the scenes that were cut in the original version. The one I remember most is when he meets up with the three brothers who helps him to catch Blondie in the hotel room. Another of those scenes is when they take a short rest in a dixie camp. There are a few and I don't really remember them all. Those scenes doesn't add much to the story, but it makes it a little longer and that film can never be too long.

Did Kozak play in Lazio's games so far this season, i.e. is he likely to be match fit?

Serie A has only been back for 2 weeks. Lazio's first match, Kozak was an unused sub and their 2nd match was on Sunday so Kozak was in Birmingham finalizing his deal. He is likely match fit.

 

Do you rate him Czech Lad, I watched the highlights from Europa League, seems quite a handful.

He is a frustrating player to watch some matches. He tries to do too much often and he has a tendency to disappear for long periods. He needs someone feeding him chances or else he will be largely invisible. He is very good with his head though. The general consensus was that Serie A did not suit his playing style at all. I thought he would need to go to the Premier League or Bundesliga to reach his true potential. I think he can become a very good striker, but he needs time. If Lambert wanted him, Lambert must think Kozak can become a quality striker.

 

Kozak is very hard working and once of the nicest players you'll ever meet. He wants to keep getting better. Definitely is a Lambert type of player.

Nicest? Really? I thought he was quite the opposite. Well, maybe he just gets mad in games.

Raised my prediction by one notch to 9 - 13 since our defense looks better than I expected, Benteke is scoring and our depth in all positions is improved.

I would be thrilled if this became reality, but I don't agree personally. Too optimistic for me.

Not a problem with him signing but just dont see the point too much. We have enough players who can play center foward, need an attack minded midfielder.

 

Need to take issue with you on this one Andy......don't see the point. Lets just say Benteke was to pick up an injury which ruled him out for three months. Who would lead the line in the same way which wouldn't force a complete change of style? Helenius isn't quite up to it yet. He'll take time plus he isn't strong enough to play that role yet. The other attacking options are all smaller guys with pace. It makes perfect sense to want another strong attacking option.

 

You are talking about a creative midfield player but if you get the ball to Gabby or Weimann then you have as much creativity there as you need. In a perfect world then maybe a creative midfielder would be a good addition - in fact I agree it would be another good option to have - but if you can only sign one then I know what type of player I would much rather have.

 

You can't all of a sudden change every aspect of your play and what the players are all used to the second the focal point of your attacks is injured. It makes more sense to have a player who can do a similar job - and I'm not saying he is exactly the same as Benteke or as good but he is big, powerful and will be a real handful for defenders.

I think the reason why some people here don't see the point in this move is that we have believed Helenius is the back up plan against a Benteke injury already this season. Now it seems that he isn't. At least not yet. I like this move.
