  1. Spain really won't try that hard against Tahiti and will win at a canter... They won't be ruthless and score loads, just make it a comfortable win.. Uruguay and Suarez in particular won't be so kind and I could really see them getting 10 or so. We all know Suarez likes the limelight and he will want to get in record books, plus the more he scores it helps keeps him in headlines and on people's mind for a move

In March Spain was unable to win Finland at home, so maybe there's a chance for Tahiti to surprise aswell! Yeah, maybe...

  2. As a young boy in Finland football was everything to me and my friends. During the winter, when we couldn't play football outside, our consolation was to watch Division 1 every Saturday @ 16.55 on TV2. My best friends chose Arsenal and West Ham as their favorites, and for some reason that I can't remember at all, I chose Villa. Not a bad choice, since this was in the beginning of the 1980-1981 season.

    So, that's how I became a Villain.

  3. This may have been covered already, I'm not going to sift through all these pages of shit.

Was there this "uproar" when we were sponsored by 32Red.com?

Have these people been outraged by our previous betting partners which we've had for years and years?

This is my 22nd post here...

...and you've already disgraced yourself with your view on sponsorship ;) But never mind, your avatar more than makes up for it :)

    Thank you!

  5. My beloved club will be linked to a gambling firm going forward. The Villa endorses and encourages gambling. Hate it.

How would you feel if it was sponsored by Carlsberg?

    Or Nestlé.

One way to look at ethics is to follow what someone, who puts their money on where their mouth is, thinks about ethics in compnies: Norway Petroleum Fund. here's a link to a list of excluded companies on their investment universe:http://www.regjeringen.no/templates/RedaksjonellArtikkel.aspx?id=447122&epslanguage=EN-GB

Nestle should be on the list if it was that bad ethically.

Dafabet isn't on there either, so they must be fine. Checkmate.

I would suppose that Dafabet is not big enough or a public company, so it could be regarded as a viable investment object.

    Nestle is.

Edit: I am not saying this the right list, but it's one way to look at this complex issue. And they are prepared to give up some of their returns in exchange of being ethical.

It's too difficult to agree on what's ethical and what's not, it's a dead end discussion.

My point is that there is a certain responsibility to youngsters that a club like Villa has, and that responsibility should not be taken lightly. It's not all about money. Now, I think Villa has made this choice deliberately, knowing and understanding the ethical side of the decision aswell, thereby endorsing and encouraging gambling with all it's negative side effects.

And personally, I don't like it. I'll get over it, but I don't like it.

As for Carlsberg, I get your point, it's so-so.

Nestle is not a brand that I dislike or think is ethically poor. Why do you bring them up?

  7. Rask is a beast! Rooting for the Bruins as they are everything a hockey team is supposed to be: mean, tough and full of heart.

I don't know who you are, but I think we will get along quite well  :D

    :) Think so too.

Although I'm not sure i should trust those angel eyes of yours...

  8. Japan is an excellent choice for a holiday destination, if you want to see and experience something different. Tokyo has its appeal as a mega city, but to me Kyoto was more awesome. In Kyoto locals, especially school children who make trips to Kyoto in the spring, still look at us europeans as something different. In a weird way, I liked it. Some sort of positive racism, I don't know. But it just felt good, they were curious.

What to do in Kyoto then? I suppose if you go there, you are interested in Japanese history, which is very impressive. An obvious choice to visit are temples and shrines, most memorable temples to me were the Golden Pavilion and Kiyomizu Temple. The absolute highlight of the trip was the visit to the Nijo Castle, home of Shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu, the most powerful man in Japan. Would definitely recommend this place with its' creaky floors.

I stayed at the Hotel Okura, which is right in the center of things. Awesome location. I really liked walking around in the Shijo-Kawaramachi shopping area with a huge amount of small shops. The atmosphere there was amazing. People are nice and friendly.

  9. I am relying on Villa to make us safe.

Not that I want it to happen, but I can't help but wonder how incredibly massive game we would have in our hands if Wigan beats Arsenal.
