  1. I know what some people are saying - but.. does it really matter if we spend £36milion on players just to prove that it was available - dont froget some of that will be used for other things needed around the club - a new espresso machine for example, or a new set of corner flags because Carew broke them all...We dont need to spend alllll the money we got from the two players.

Im Confident Mcleish will bring in what he needs, and if we sign Given and CNZ - then a Centre Mid will do and i think we are set. Would love a new CB, but we have Dunne, Collins, Clark and Cuellar who im totally happy with - and it would seem Beye and Warnock are being given another chance, so that gives us them two, Young, Baker - Maybe need another full back but.. meh.

  2. Gonna be a great signing if we pull it off.

The only thing that has annoyed me about this whole saga is the fact we put ourselves in the position of having to find two wingers to replace Downing and Young - We all knew Young was off but dont think the sale of Downing was entirely necessary - 20million or not. We shouldnt be in the position of needing two wingers.

Ok, so if N'zogbia does join, are we going to rely on Albrighton as our other winger? Great player - huge fan of his, but is he ready to play a whole season?

  3. Its not a fair point - the fact is we are selling our 'best' players to clubs in the same league, crippling ourselves for 20million quid. And now we have to replace said players. How the **** are we gonna do that with the crap of last season, Mcleish who isn't renowned for his big named signings and a team who consistently does sell it's best players?!?!? No one amazing is gonna come.

    It's a load of shit

  4. What is really sad is that we still have shit like Beye, Warnock, Heskey, Dunne and Ireland on our books.

Well, I think Dunne and Ireland have shown more loyalty and passion than Downing has considering the circumstances. Those two i will happily keep. And if Warnock and Beye want to work hard for a place then... Sod it.

**** off Downing - £20million for Randys pocket!

  5. General -

I know it's not you personally selling the players, but can you tell me how this works? When a bid comes in who is it who actually gives the nod to accept? Is it Randy??

This is quite pathetic. The players that were making this club are just disappearing without trace. I really can't see myself spending any money on Villa this season, it's all just a joke. I was looking into buying my first season ticket so I could start coming to games on my own as I don't have anyone to go with...despite the joke of last season... Think I will save it. Villa have enough money from the sales of key players.

Well played on this one 'The board'.

  6. I'm really quite pissed off about this...

I'm not entirely sure which part of the situation I'm pissed off with though.

One part of me doesnt want anymore players to leave, ESPECIALLY starting 11 players. I wanted to add to the loss of Young, NRC, Carew etc etc...

But also, Downing isn't great... 20mill is a waste, I mean... Alot of money for him.... But what concerns me is... Who THE **** is going to want to come to us that can supply crosses into the box like downing did last season? I really don't want us to play football like Birmingham did last season, or Bolton or anybody like that. Not necessarily bad teams but,... Not the football I want us to play. WE'RE TWO WINGERS AND TWO BEST PLAYERS DOWN NOW!!!!!!

    PISSED OFF! Again... Thanks Villa!

  7. To go on the post above,

Kinda like what we did for Gabby General - although I think if it was offered Gabby would sign a 10 year contract. He's Villa through and through.

Its not so much the fact we are accepting the bids, it's just that we get these players in then they want out! What Tottenham are apparently doing to Modric is wrong, I would hope that Randy will never say to someone that they will just sit in the stands. So what can he do but accept the best offer. But, why is it happening in the first place??? This is what we don't understand General and it's really frustrating.

  8. Yea it's pretty much game over in terms of trying to finish top 6. We will just float around the middle somewhere, maybe finish 7th or something.

So annoyed that we gonna lose him, absolutely rediculous. Football really is pissing me off lately. Brought him for 12 million, he gives us half a season of crap, then does well last season, gets into the England set up and then wants out. Brilliant.

And we havnt even replaced the other bloody winger that's left yet!!!!!!!

  9. 1. "Sell to buy"...that is a perennial question. As you have seen from the beginning of Randy's time at the Club, we have not always had a sell to buy requirement. At the same time, if you don't look hard at players and the overall wage bill, a Club can get into real financial difficulties. This is the reason you see Clubs like ManU selling key players...trying to keep competitive and still manage the wage structure. So, at the end of the day, it has much more to do with the wage bill than it does with transfer fees.

    Cheers for the response General.

So, would you personally envisage more players leaving our club? We already have cut a fair bit of the wage bill I would imagine...ok, I don't know the exact figures obviously, but I'm sure releasing; Carew, NRC, Pires(especially considering we were paying for his travel and no doubt other expenses) and a few other fringe and youngsters, and of course selling Ashely Young... We have cut it massively?

But on the flip side, you mentioned ManU sell to compete and mangage the finances... But they are ManU, they attract whoever they want to the club. Our best player for example!...They have sold a couple of players in Brown and O'Shea but they arnt of the quality that we have sold this season or last...or the one before for that matter. We are now of course, left short! So how do we go on from here? Do we continue to sell our top stars and bringing in 'ok' players or, can we buy the stars, keep buying stars and really try to kick on?

    Thanks again Gen!

  10. Hey General,

My questions is, and I'm not sure if this is one you can answer properly right now...

Must we sell in order to buy? Even if it means selling the players who arnt quite making the first team. I know you have said many times, 'When has Randy not supported the manager', which I agree with... But then, we have always sold a player of some sort anyway. For the past three seasons, they have been key. So, if we fail to make anymore from sales, will this mean that we will have just the Young money to spend, maybe a tad more? Or do you see it as we don't really need a massive influx of players, and we will just replace Young?

Either way is cool, it's just, last summer was quite frustrating, as we didn't bring anyone in. Not sure why that was?

Just be good to know because I'm on holiday in august for a week and I spent loads last year looking at various sites on mobile and texts to mates for transfer news and there wasn't any :(

    Cheers General! You the best!!

Hey General - good weekend so far?

Any thoughts on my last post?

    Thanks.

  11. Hate to put a downer on this link but - maybe we arnt even interested in N'Zogbia? I haven't seen any quotes?? You should know by now we don't deal in public, it will be a secret for as long as it takes to complete or until the other team say something.

I would have liked to have thought we would get this one nailed down early, but maybe we just ain't after him.... :/

  13. Hi General

Can you confirm something for us -

Do we really need to keep selling in order for Mcleish to buy his own players in??

We knew Young was going - but is potentially selling Downing absolutely necessary if Alex Mcelish wants to spend some money??

Wouldn't you agree that when we had Milner, Young and Downing we Could have had the best midfield in the prem - if we had kept them together??

Just to have two of them back would be brilliant.

Not very happy at the moment to be honest :/ - this summer window could be quite depressing for us fans.

    Tayls.

  14. Love how it's mostly people with low post counts calling for Lerner to leave - have you only just stared supporting Villa or something? Or are you noses in disguise?

I say supporting... Clearly I mean, just come out and started spouting crap because things may not be going so well. Why don't you come up with a more logical reason as to why he should leave? Theres a test for ya!

  15. **** it ,

if after all the backlash he still wants the job , he and the board have my support .

i like people who take on an against the odds challenge.

he WANTS to be our boss , **** it im behind him!

Wayyyhayyyyyy someone who is thinking the same as me!

**** this, let's name him as our boss and make some bloody signings!!! We are missing out on talent here.

If he **** up - it will be heard in an insane way I am scared to even think about how it would go off.... 50x the houllier out protests!

  16. Not sure if any of you have seen this on the skysports website but there is a very interesting section in it... Bham sacked AMs chief scout by COPYING him in on an email to one of the chief officials! Wtf is that about... I say fair play to Mcleish for doing the same back to them!! They havnt got a clue....

Take a look at the article. It goes quite nicely with what the general was saying. How could he work with that board, and look what Lerner has done for our managers...

I'm giving Mcleish a chance if he is to become our manager.

    Mcleish position untenable
