  1. The French tactician has been missing from the dug out since being admitted to Birmingham's Queen Elizabeth hospital on 20th April suffering with a heart problem, and discharged nine days later.

There has been speculation over whether he will return to the helm at all but McAllister confirmed Houllier was on the mend and could be at Villa Park for the game with his former club.

However McAllister, who has served as caretaker for Villa's last three matches, says the French tactician will not be in the dugout at Villa Park for the game with his former club.

"Gerard is very good. I've seen quite a bit of him this week, and I've been speaking to him a great deal," said McAllister.

"I've been over and we ventured out and had a bit of lunch. He's up and about, certainly more free around the house, so he's good.

"There have been loads of conversations with (chief executive) Paul Faulkner, myself, getting on with things, preparing for next year.

"He won't be in the dugout (against Liverpool), but there might be a visit of such.

"Maybe there is a chance of it, although it's something we've not spoken about."

This week defender Luke Young voiced his concerns regarding the prospect of a summer of uncertainty at Villa Park should Houllier's absence be indefinite.

Dismissing such a possibility, McAllister said: "I can dispel that. Absolutely.

"Apart from not being fit enough to take training, he is certainly fit enough to be getting on with the business side of things, which you would do in the office after a training session.

"Every indication I've got from speaking to Gerard, how positive he is in his own mind and from all the things we've chatted about, is he is eager to go into the summer prepared for pre-season.

"As you can imagine there's quite a lot of work to be done. That's a fact.

"When you come to this end of the season, as much as people think it's a winding down for the club, there is a lot of preparation and stuff that needs to be set in place for next season.

"That entails people who are in our plans, and those who are not, people whose contracts we want to extend, those who are coming up to certain lengths of the contract they have left.

"So there are certainly a few things that need to be ironed out."

McAllister has confirmed Houllier is under 'no pressure in terms of time' as to when he will be back in his office.

"I think for everybody there will be a definite decision, but every indication from Gerard is that we are getting on with what we need to get on with at this moment in time," added McAllister.

  2. Started a season with Villa - about 15 games in and doing well, sat 4th at the mo, about 5 points from top with a game in hand. Doing nicely in Europe as well.

I sold warnock, Beye, salifou and herd and got 6.5 million for them all, and bought Ochoa for 6.5 (surely he can come cheaper than that but they wouldn't accept, grr) and got Fabio from united on loan.

I'm scoring a lot but conceeding a few aswell, can anybody give me some tips on how to sure up the defence?? Getting a few injuries aswell and I havnt really altered it, made it less work if anything. Got Petrov, Dunne, L.Young, Walker and Heskey out for months! Mostly injured in games!

  3. [The fact is, no-one knows, you included, so don't talk like you know how Randy goes about his business. The fact is, he is a multi-millionaire, and we are not.

What the **** does that have to do with anything? You do realise Randy inherited his millions don't you?

I'm well aware that he inherited money and his businesses off his dad yes but he has been dead a while now and Randy is still in charge and his businesses do well. You could even argue that since his dad was so successful that Randy had the perfect mentor to learn off and had the best education available to him. He is still a success, he hasn't run his dad's life work into the ground.

The **** it has to do with anything, is that people talk on here like they know how he goes about his business and that they think they could do better when they don't have the first clue what it is to be a highly successful businessman or running the club. Just because he inherited his money doesn't mean that he isn't good at what he does and I certainly trust him with my club than a few moany fans on an internet message board.

This - ultimately, none of us know sweet **** all about what is going on at Villa, what any of the board get up to or what any of the plans are for the future. We don't know what is going to happen in terms of a manager and yet we have collectively come up with almost 215 pages of bollox. None of this, I doubt will happen.

The model Lerner has set up is good, we had it so right until a few months ago, but it isn't completely decimated. To quote GMac - we need a few tickles here and there, including getting rid of himself. It's crazy to suggest that what Lerner has put together over the 5 years has been ruined. This is just a mere set back. I have every faith order shall be restored next season.

  4. PS Don't employ that Spainish waiter that did so much to upset the Barry/Villa situation.

I hope that not everyone who thinks our board has taken a 'nicey nice' approach think this about Benitez, he tried to take a player from us to make his Liverpool team better... This is where we should think, 'screw other teams, we want to make our team better and do what it takes'...

Benitez would be a fine choice if considered.

  5. Why would we need to approach anyone? I think we should see who 'applies' for the position. Maybe managers already in a job could. Dunno.... It does need changing though i think, someone who is gonna get straight down to business.

Benitez, Moyes, Hughes, Jol, Koeman, Mclaren, Allardyce, Bradley... I think will be the only ones considered. Not saying any if those are my choice, it's irrelevant really. I don't even think a change will happen, instead a whole bunch of our players will be got rid off instead.

  6. Hi General

Im sure you have lots to read through past couple of pages. Any thoughts on the issues?

What do you think to the comments made by Luke Young, does he have a valid point? (not sure what the source of the comments was though). Will just point out that I think Luke has been one of our best players this season along with Stewart Downing.

Looking forward to hearing your views on recent comments.

  7. You did book it for then Beasley...Don't you fib now! You break all the rules my friend! I'm even gonna guess where you went - hmmm... Bulgaria?

I was there too Steve, I got bored so started playing papertoss on my iPhone. Was good though cuz I got a new high score if I recall. Something we had no chance of doing that day. Was crap.

Moyes, Benitez, Hughes for me - or a revitalised Houllier without Mcallister.

  8. General - thanks for your two most recent posts it really does make me feel better that you and the the rest of the board have acknowledged that things need to be addressed ahead of next season. I have every faith that the 'right' moves will be made to ensure that we are a force again in the top flight of English football, and a good candidate to represent English teams on the continent. (I think the last 2 Europa Leagues we have been in, if we actually tried we could have won the damn thing, I genuinely believe that).

I know you know as well as we do, this season has been a disaster. From everybody's part. Including the fans. We were so negative when we should have been positive, but then, how could we be positive when we lose to Wolves and now West Brom, ending our 25ish years without losing to them. It had to come some time, but in the same season, when we are desperate for points as it is? Not cool lol.

I'm confident next season will be so much better, but there are going to have to be some massive changes in the summer to, not only win a small minority of doubters back, but to put us back to where we belong!

I am just going to go ahead and say that I am very thankful for the effort and contributions Randy and the board have made to help Aston Villa progress, and I think I speak on behalf of all Villa fans in that I am very proud to have our friends from the states in charge of our great club.

  9. He failed at Inter but I think they punched above their weight anyway, they had Mourinho as manager. Rafa couldn't replicate what Mourinho did! But probs could of if they gave him more than 6 months.

He won the champs league with Liverpool for crying out loud, did he win anything else?? He has honours at Valencia as well who were average in La Liga and really a mile behind Real Madrid and Barcelona! They then failed when he left. Until Liverpool brought dalgleish in, they were failing too, they finished 7th (was it?) last season but that was behind Tottenham and Man City and us, who were supposed to be moving up! Benitez didn't have chance to tackle us three teams cuz Inter (European champions) wanted him!

He would do a decent job for us, I think he will have us defending well and maybe able to attract some top players, even with GH as DoF!

This season is a load of shit, and I don't think anything will be done, we could all be wasting our time here debating over other managers.

  10. General Krulak here:

    4. Tayls: That is a pretty tough question because the season is not over yet. BUT, at this point, I would say that it has been a pretty tough one. It started with a huge problem and that issue has plagued us for the past months. I think that GH made some very good moves in the transfer market, supported by Randy, and those moves will pay off. I still think we can move up the table and I will make an overall comment at the end of the season.

Oh my god - the General said my name. *screen shot and save* :-)

Thanks for acknowledging my post, I understand that you must have a thousand things to respond to.

Can you just clarify for us though please General - what was the huge problem that has plagued us? Furthermore, what can you tell us on the kit situation for next season?

Ooo, one more thing, i got some bad news from my work on Friday,(naturally when they announce something bad it's done on a Friday at 4:30pm) don't have any jobs in recruitment going do you?! :D
