  1. The Greeks really were amazing wernt they?! The things they came up with... Incredible, incredible.
True. How many other nations can claim that they both invented homosexuality AND won Euro 2004?

Yea... But then you get the smaller claims to brilliance... Such as the Olympics, Maths and Philosophy - oh, and pretty much the 'bathroom'

  2. I call shenanigans!

A mobile phone company has probably taken a guess based on last year and the release of ios6 and told him it will be in October.

Hmmm, it is quarter 4, but I can go a little bit more specific than that.

    Who told you October?

  3. If he was brought up in Holland there's a good chance he speaks some English I think.

El-Reacho, this isn't aimed at you by the way, it's just that it happens to be you that said it!... I need some clarification from a Dutch person!

Is Holland a small section of the country, similar to what Cornwall is to England for example. And the ACTUAL countries name is the 'Netherlands'. If so, why do people still call it Holland?

  4. Got mine this morning - looks tidy and certainly do not have any quality issues. Looks to me like Macron put in a lot of effort with our shirts.

Only beef is - Same as LockStockVilla - would prefer a tighter fit. I have quite broad shoulders and shirt fits ok in the medium, but the sleeves are very loose. Think we should have had the Napoli fit.

  5. I think we played brilliantly. We were defensive but that was the whole point. France were resorting to shooting out side the box and never really looked like scoring to be fair. If it wasn't for Hart being blind sighted and really Nasri should have been closed down sooner we would have won!

It was 30 degrees so why did we feel the need to go all out. We can save some energy now for the later, cooler kick offs and try to push on more with our counter attacking style which I'm pretty certain is the way we will play under Roy.

    Come on England!

  6. Cor God sake Smithy you sound like you have skim read a page of an under-graduate contract law text book.

A clause concerning one parties right to explore alternate employment opportunities in the context of an employment contract will be a condition clause and not a warranty clause.

You breached a condition and Lambert acted lawfully and unilaterally terminated the agreement. You owe him damages.

This is what I believe as well, but Smithys point is centred around knowing that the clause was indeed a condition? I understood it that all clauses are conditions that go to the root of the contract - but not 100% sure on that. (skipping out warranty clauses as they don't help anyone :))

  7. Tayls - yes those circumstances being where there is a fundamental breach which goes to the heart of performance of the contract.

Surely a clause is a clause? No one party can go breaking the agreed clauses within a contract willy nilly? Any breaching of a clause within a contract is a fundamental breach and deeming it null and void? I also wouldnt be surprised if there was a clause to say that no clause can be broken... Id imagine a football manger would ensure his ass is covered by that, which shows as to why he was so confident in moving things forward with Aston Villa.

A clause is a clause but not all breaches are fundamental breaches. In the co text of a football manager employed to manage a team there are probably very few breaches by the club that would qualify - possibly only failure to pay his wages!

There may be other clauses in the contract which enable termination in HHS event of material breaches but it would bd very rare that these enabled immediate termination without the ability for either party to remedy the breach first.

Anyway I'm sure Lambo/villa took legal advice and time will tell if it was correct but (even if the rumoured clause dies exist) i still dont think he was entitled to terminate his contract as claimed. It would not surprise me though if lambert/villa know that and settle this quietly before it sees a court, probably as part of any deal for Culverhouse.

Yea, truth is... We don't really know. I'm clutching at straws and I'd imagine you are doing the same - unless of course you know the true facts? (in which case, who are you?!)

I'm not a lawyer, but I do work in recruitment so have the minimal amount of contract writing/knowledge which I need to help in some elements of my job but I'm assuming the contracts which I see are poles apart from contracts for a football manager on 800k a year.

We shall see what happens... But have a feeling Culverhouse and Karsa will not be joining the Villa.

  9. I OBJECT!

A contract can be built from any amount of clauses and should one be broken from either of the party's it is a breach of contract and can in some circumstances render the contract null and void.

We approached your people for Lambert. Your people said 'no' breaking the clause in Lamberts contract which says he can speak to any premiership team should they wish to speak to him. Lamberts representatives said 'hold up, your breaching contract there, we will speak to Villa ta very much'.... As far as Villa are concerned - Lambert was fair game which appears to be the case, hence he is now our manager.

  10. To be fair to him he will go down as another manger who kept us in the premiership which is now part of our history. We are one of the longest serving clubs to play in this league and he has indeed contributed to that. But my god the football was dire. The worst I have ever seen.

Kept us in the prem for one more season... That's all he did do, thank god.

  11. Is this likely to be delayed until Wednesday?

I want to see Bert's angry face at B6 ASAP.

I'd be a little annoyed if they waited till Wednesday. Owners don't have weekends and bank hols.

It's more out of respect to the Queen. If villa go announcing things over the next 2/3 days, Charles and William etc will constantly be refreshing the sky sports website for confirmation of the appointment. We shouldn't try to steal her Majestys thunder.

Btw, wouldn't it be cool if we became Royal Aston Villa and had a crown above our badge :D

  12. If we are to believe that RM representatives haven't been approched then its going to make very interesting who the people they have interviewed behind closed doors .

If it's not Lambert then I still think there is an outstanding candidate for me and its Glen Hoddle .

I know he wouldn't be universally popular and wasn't great at Wolves but Rogers wasn't great at Reading . Hoddle all day for me

MM - have you been sat in the pub since early afternoon?

    .... Hoddle?? Really??

Have we definitely interviewed behind closed doors though? Any hunches who might have been involved there?

  13. I really do not think Lambert is an option for us. I appreciate what Wiz is saying about the man, and I think he is correct in what he is saying. I have a buddy who is a norwich fan and he is basically saying the same thing. However, things do happen in football so it really is a case of wait and see.

I do not want us to hire someone who is working in the prem at the moment. I want someone fresh who is going to come in and really try to do something.

Martinez - been in the prem a few years now and consistently fighting at the bottom, normally with newly promoted teams. He is young and maybe has a few tactical skills, but he is not the man for us.

Lambert - safe option, but need to see how he gets on next season to determine if I think he is any good or not.

Rodgers - best out the three, but again needs another season with Swansea to see what damage he can really do. I believe he will go on to be a decent manager.

I DO NOT WANT ANY OF THESE AT VILLA NEXT SEASON.

RANDY PLEASE TREAT US AFTER THE LAST MESS UPS.
