    This thread is always the most amusing. Simply due to the level of ignorance of what a Sporting Directors role at a football club actually is. The majority believe he is head of recruitment and the sole decision maker on signings. This is highly amusing

    It is crazy..

  2. I don't think Emery should be dictating who the Sporting Director is..

    When Emery leaves in 5 years etc, does he take his sporting director with him, and we have to create another infrastructure?

    Na I don't like that..

  3. I am not happy that we let him go but I understand why, it is a good business deal.

    He is aging as a player, big salary and good fee in return..

    Too good to turn down.

    We better have replacement because those are two forwards we have let go..

  4. Good signing but I think this is a signing for the future.

    He will play and grow with us over period of time.

    He is extremely raw and needs work.

    I have read some quotes from Chicago fire fans and erm.. yh lol not great

  5. He has a lot of upside.

    He is already 6ft and likely to grow beyond that.

    He is clinical in front of goal.

    If he fills out a bit more there will be a pathway for him into our first team.

    But a season bruising it out in the lower leagues will also benefit him.

  6. I would love for us to sign Mitrovic..

    I think we need a a physical striker that can hold the ball up and bring other players in.

    Keinan Davis may have had a chance if he wasn't sent on loan

  7. Interesting article about the signing and potential plan for him..

    So, why have Aston Villa decided to splash out to bring the 29-year-old Spaniard to Villa Park?

    Similarities and Differences to Digne

    If we’re going for a side-by-side comparison, some things immediately jump out when comparing Digne and Moreno. The main one is that Moreno is quick—explosive, even. He marauds up and down the left flank, whether carrying the ball or not, at a rate of knots. Digne has plenty of strengths, but searing pace is not necessarily one of them, and Emery has form for wanting dynamic, quick full-backs to provide the width in his teams, especially when not playing traditional wingers.

    But let’s take a deeper dive, [...]

  8. I really like him as a player, he has great engine and plays with an elegance.

    He is aggressive, temperamental, but he is young as there is room for growth.

    Has a bit of a Granit Xhaka aura about him..

    The question is do we need him? or are we capitalising on an opportunity to rebuild our squad?

    I will also add that he Emery never sticks with the same shape, so he could fit in a three or two in midfield.

    I have to admit that after this last week (Wolves 1st half & that League 2 team we handed the game to yesterday), I am just a little concerned as to the way we are playing. It is just so SLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW!!!

    Is this an Emery thing? Or are the players simply not doing it? Coz when we play like that it is boring as heck and totally ineffective too. It is just a matter of time until the opponent realizes we are little threat and starts taking a few gambles when we happily will then donate a few chances to them by basically passing them the ball in a dangerous position (Exactly what happened on Sunday)

    Emery is not really known for a type of  attacking exciting brand of football.

    He is known as being a top tactician, coach and creating teams that are effective and difficult to beat.

  10. Unfortunately he has not been the player that we thought that we were getting..

    He pops up with the occasional goal, but his general play is pretty bad.

    No assist and 25 passes per game this season. He has not created anything this season..

    Comparing him to Solly March who has 33 passes per game and 3 assist.

    Buendia has made 15 crosses this season.. March has made 68 crosses..

    He has been trash this season.

    Once Ramsey is fit, it would not surprise me if he replaces him.

  11. Maybe I am biased.. but I am backing him regardless.

    He was clearly distraught because not only does he have high expectations of himself, but he has a whole nation on his back, he represents Jamaica and Jamaican football so he probably feels that he has let them down as well everyone involved with the club..

    As humans, we show empathy because at the end of the day it is only a game of football, and IF he has the minerals, he will come back stronger, he is a young man..

  12. I honestly feel that we just lack quality in the attacking areas.

    Buendia =  Average at best

    Coutinho = Past his best

    Bailey = Inconsistent

    Watkins = Average

    Ings = Doesn’t have the legs but great Super sub..

    If three of the above left I wouldn’t be disappointed..
