  1. Regardless of his intentions / financial background it is so refreshing to see him respond directly to fans.

Looking back on the Letner era, the total lack of communication with fans was surely the most damaging aspect of the whole thing to the point that we ended up with fan disinterest and revolt.

Dr Tony would do well to overhaul the PR department in his own image.

  2. Steve Hollis worked at KPMG for 32 years. I would like to think he knows a little bit about financial due diligence! That being said, I fully endorse the media scrutiny and hope Dr Xia will respond to all accusations. The more eyes that are on this deal, the less likely anything dodgy is will happen.

people who say football moved on, why don't Liverpool, Man U. Everton rebrand ? oh yeah because they are a brand in themselves Villa and Villa park are a brand.

It's a bit rich to claim these clubs haven't sold out in other more embarrassing ways anyway. We have half the Liverpool team shilling Nivea face cream every advert break and lets not forgot Manchester United's official Korean Potato Snack sponsor: Mister Potato

The trees has said Wang's jet has definitely not landed in Brum. As expected!

Obviously...he's flying into East Midlands and getting an A2B cab to keep the journo's of his back.

It didn't go well. Don't try this one, guys.
I told them 'not to consider me this week or next as I just didn't fancy it'.

Anyone know of any jobs going?

    None at Villa Park.

There's a couple going on the Villa board. Any experience running a national bank?

My 10 yr old was talking about us going down - he's realised it's going to happen now.  Still sticks with Villa despite all his mates being Arsenal or Chelsea.

He was genuinely asking if we could still play at Villa Park which is so big, 'because all the places we'll be playing are like a muddy pitch with 4 rows of seats and holes everywhere'.  Made me LOL and be sad at the same time.

Ah so he's been to St. Andrew's before then?

  7. Villa against better opponent: racked with nerves, silly mistake = loss

Villa against worse opponent: get complacent, no effort = loss

Villa against well matched opponent: good performance, bad luck = loss

    ;)

  8. Crisis manager brought in to prevent further disastrous loses when we get relegated. I expect the clubs finances will look a lot more healthy with this chap in charge and we will be a more attractive potential purchase. I also expect us to be entrenched mid-table in the championship.

  9. It's difficult to know how low we will sink at this point. We need a massive recruitment drive this summer once the deadwood has been cleared. We need quality and quantity, and players who are appropriate for our new league, our new playing system and our new financial situation (whatever Randy decides upon). We then have to fashion a heavily modified squad with very few senior 'villa' pros into a functional team, capable of beating well established teams. Most new managers have a foundation of some kind to build on but ours is already crumbling and will be further depleted upon relegation. This rebuilding task could take years and almost certainly will take longer than the instant success the fans will demand.

At this point I think we have to pick our manager and stick with him though the difficult rebuilding period. There is so little to build on and in such dark times I think we need a proven character known for building teams up. I feel for Remi and in different circumstances I do think he could be a great manager, but it is a truly massive task ahead and his CV is simply not long enough to give any evidence that he is the man for this job. I would be delivering a very large check to David Moyes at this point and telling him to get ready for the challenge of his life - literally rebuilding an entire squad from the ground up in his image. Because God help us if we leave this task up to the famed transfer committee and not a football manager.

  10. Must be hard to swallow for Randy that his investment will be worth less than he bought it for a decade ago with premier league broadcast revenue massively increasing in this time, all down to his chronic mismanagement. Is he likely to sell us now? I'm not investment expert but buy high, sell low seems like a poor strategy. Would anyone pay the 60million we cost Lerner in 2005 on the back of this season?

I just don't agree that anyone at this club has any sort of 'plan', let alone a long term one.

If you think about the club has tended to flip flop under Lerner from resolutely following a long term plan as it increasingly damages the club (MoN's free reign, Lamberts slide into the abyss) followed by a period of mindless reactive decisions which inflict their own brand of damage (McLeash, Sherwood).

I have a feeling Garde is the long-term variety.

The problem with Garde is that if we continue like this, he ll be ruined by the end of

the season, in the same way Lambert fell apart at the end it will happen to Remi and then he really won't be the right person for the rebuild.

keeping an eye out for the Lambert style transition from 'Ex-footballer' to 'fat homeless person'.

I wouldn't be surprised if he were out of the door by next weekend.

Unless he resigns there is no chance this will happen. He is the long term plan even if that includes relegation, I'm sure of it.
