It certainly looks like a West Ham kit especially as all of their kits have a ****-off massive Aston Villa Lion embossed on the back. Nevermind Macron, back to the drawing board.
Also, the only reason they play in Claret and Blue is because we gave them our kits just before the 1900's. For this reason, our kits are always going to be similar.
Didn't know that! BRB just gonna jump in the time machine with 22 of these :

Got to be Given for me, one of the only consistant performers last season, has held the captaincy (for short amount of times mind) at Newcastle and Citeh, and shown responsibility on and off the pitch through his charity work. Not perfect but seems like the best of a bad bunch, barring we don't sign an obvious leader.
-
My guess is PL would like to bring Holt to villa but he will know that we already have a decent No. 9 in Darren Bent so it will be down to his judgement of whether they can play together in his system or whether the (limited) budget should be spent elsewhere. I'm dubious of spending what will likely be £5+ million on a player we low resale value on the back of one admittedly decent season. The prem is littered with one season wonders, have to wonder why he has spent 10+ years in the lower leagues.

Bring on Lamberto MartinO'neilinez!

AVB - Jesus, have a day off people. Why on earth would he come to Villa?
If he wants to stay in England it's the biggest job available. I don't get the impression he is bothered about staying though. Rafa on the other hand...

yeah, lets go crazy and stick some vertical stripes on the home shirt.
:wow: ...Never again please.

This is the real picture.
Haha just spotted Phil Thompson lurking in the background.

If its not on RAWK already, somebody please get this picture over to the
They will be delighted
Off to microwave some popcorn
It's gathering pace nicely. Already conspiracy theorists are calling it shopped:
I did some googling.Martinez is exactly 175 cm.
John Henry roundabout ten cm taller than Kenny which would be 183 cm.
Looking at that picture, they seem to be just about the same height though.
It could be the angle or something, but it wouldn't surprise me if it's shopped. The height difference is bigger between the two.
haha mythbusted right here. Well to be fair I'm pretty sure I can see a glimpse bigfoot on the left of the pic

Goddamn Robbo is one dapper gent. Big Mick it is for us then. :x

The man quoted in the articles is Bryan Doogan. Villa's PR officer is Brian Doogan.
The plot thickens?
Mate give it up, I'm hearing it has been confirmed by Andy Lerner and Saul Faulker themselves now.
edit: Ole Gooner Solskjaer on SSN now confirming
-
Still think something isn't quite right about this, I am now asking more questions and have less answers than before. Really not quite sure what is going on and am feeling a little baffled.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has given Aston Villa a message that he is no longer a candidate for the vacant post of manager of the club. This was confirmed by Aston Villa's press officer, Bryan Doogan.
Its over mate.

I'd be happy with any of Martinez, Lambert or OGS. Assuming they are all actually in contention I would just prefer the one who presents the most knowledge and best plan for villa's future in their interview. Seeing as there is no killer candidate IMO and their style/experience/honours are all broadly similar, this is how I think it should be done.
-
So has OGS genuinely, 100%, unequivickly signed then?
Not at all as far as I can tell. He will fly in for an interview tomorrow, but he's clearly first choice and it's his to lose now.
-
Worried. I can't be confident about ODS because I know nothing of the Norwegian league or Molde so cant make an informed opinion about his managerial skill myself. Normally when this is the case (with a new unknown villa signing for instance) I am comforted by the fact somebody at the club, normally the manager, has the expertise and has done the research to ensure the signing is a good one. But I'm not confident we have anyone at the club with the footballing brain who can be confident OGS is decent manager.
Everyone saying he will set us up playing good attacking football- What makes you so confident? Unless VT has a massive Norwegian contingent I don't know about, none of us have a clue about Molde or the Norwegian league, so we havent a clue how his team plays. All we know are the broad facts, the wikipedia version of his career. I am praying Randy and Falkner have a footballing consultant on board who can help access if he's right for us. I'm not against him, I just dont want to hire him on the back of of his legend status with out some serious scrutiny of his credentials.
-
So so risky. I honestly can't understand how some people can be so confident this he's right for villa. What kind of football do Molde play? What formation does he set up with?
-
So by my guess the Norwegian league is probably approximately equivalent to the quality of upper league 1, lower championship. If we were courting a manager from these depths of the English league everyone would crucify Randy, but because it’s a league we rarely (lets face it NEVER) hear about suddenly it’s exciting and daring. Please no. Winning a crap league does not make you ready for the prem and having playing experience in a league is not a substitute for managing in that league. That being said if Martin Larsen is involved I would forgive a lot of that. Love that guy.

I would be surprised if Liverpools search for a manager includes our potential shortlist.
Liverpool have the same problem as Chelsea ... senior players with huge egos. A Martinez/Lambert/Rodgers type manager would suffer from the same reception as Hodgson. Pools fans also have huge egos and would not willingly except anyone who wasn't a big name.
Villa, have now shifted most of our "big ego" players with the remaining two or three on borrowed time. Villa fans have adjusted our egos, and are now much more realistic about our immediate aims.
The next 48 hours may well give us an indication of our intentions, as the current media frenzy focuses a couple of American chairman on the task of making the right appointment without any unnecessary delay.
Agree with this 100%. I cant see Liverpool admitting their position as a deleted force and picking up a manager from the lower regions of the league, especially with the Hodgson fiasco fresh in minds. They will be after a manager proven at the top level, leaving the door open for us to court Lambert, Martinez or Rogers.
However I could see these men holding out for a call from Liverpool, making our appointment more protracted than it needed to be. Yet more reasons to dislike Liverpool.
