Anyone else get the impression Paul doesn't like this kid? He says that "he still has an absolute mile to go" but with other players like Benteke he says that "he could be anything he wants to be" . I just get the feeling that Lambert is only playing these kids (him and Robinson) because he feels he's pressurised into playing them.

Hello all.

 

I’m sorry that there has been no news from me of late. The reason being is that the club are now "leaking" all manner of stories in order to muddy the waters. The club aren’t overly impressed that they’ve not been able to keep a lid on this particular bottle.

 

So, as they can't stop info coming out, they've decided to actively and cleverly feed their connections with bullshit stories. This directive has come from the top.

 

I've read that forums previously rubbishing our news story are suddenly awash with takeover talk. Andy Gray has come out with stories, Stan Collymore, TalkSport, MysteryMan in various forms (the version that is registered here is not the real MM), all manner of twitter and Facebook chat about auditors, Phil Anschutz and Ellison/Oracle....this is the club working overtime to spin misinformation.

 

Some of what you’ll read today is true, I'm sure. But with so many versions of stories, it's now going to be extremely hard to tell the truth from fiction. That's before you consider the people who just make things up without any reliable source.

 

The club has finally been clever about something. As such, I’m being as careful not to say anything until I know that it has at least a ring of truth to it. And I understand that this is frustrating for you all. 

 

As always, my ear is to the ground and I hope that TBAR members are the first to know the real story. I’m working hard for you all.

When Lerner does issue his statement clarifying this, Lambert will walk, we will get in a manager that will have to work with the same parameters that are currently in place now.

In his post match interview when asked about what needs to be improved on for next season, he doesn't answer the questions and starts talking about the chairman and the statement he is going to release in the next 6/7 days. For me, that obviously shows that Lambert is not gonna be in charge next season.

Why all the good luck messages? He is going nowhere. This guy is going to power us to a top 4 finish next season

I think technically he is one of the better players at the club.

Guys we are in for a treat today, Gabby looks up for it!

Probably what everyone else were saying, but he is the only player being remotely fun to watch in our squad. Sad but true I guess. Sure we have a good goalkeeper, a decent stopper in Vlaar and a tackler in Delph (once in a while), but all of them are players most other teams have. The league is littered with good goalkeepers and every club has one or two enviable players, but Benteke is special. His top level is huge - so just imagine what he could have done with players like Lallana or even better players around him. I'm mentioning Lallana because he is the sort of player that we could have snapped up a few years ago on the cheap before anyone knew he was good. I guess that was the plan with Tonev et al, but we all know the score.

 

Benteke's injury was the worst that could happen to this team, but in the long (cynical) run it means we get to keep him for a good while I guess.

"A tackler in Delph" ?. That's probably the worst part of his game. For me, he is characterised by his surging forward runs, skipping past players like they weren't there.

June 1st 2014. We have just been taken over by a US Billionaire. Paul Lambert has been relieved of his duties and the owner has decided to make YOU manager. You have been given a transfer budget of £100m without any wage restrictions.

In my opinion, we have a dozen players that we need to be building this club around: Guzan, Vlaar, Okore, Delph, Bacuna, Benteke.

The rest of the squad can either be decent rotational options, good back ups, or sold.

The first thing I would be ensuring is that we have a short term replacement for Benteke, perhaps a half season loan. I know we have a surplus of strikers, but with respect, I don't think Kozak or any of our other strikers for that matter have the firepower of Benteke.

What would you do?

That team will be destroyed IMHO.
