If that's true, why are we negotiating with them at all. That's what I want to know. The message should be loud and clear: it's £150m or nothing. Put the money down or piss off.

This is where you see the need for Dougie's skillet in that area of the pitch.
Absolutely, he could really cook up a storm.

There's been a lot of talk of us overtaking the likes of Everton, Arsenal, Spurs this season. Spurs aren't being sentimental with Kane, they're not thanking him for all he's done and letting him have a crack at the next level, they're refusing to sell their best player and I'd hope we'd do the same.

Just started @OutByEaster?, looks like we've got Captain Jack and Tony Daley today.

Feel for Saka, surely Sterling or Stones need to step up there? Saka has looked nervous all night.

No DCL in the squad again. I can't help but feel for someone so risk-averse as Southgate it seems an oddly unnecessary risk to take, especially with the potential for the game to go the distance.

Never understood the hype over Depay. Wijnaldum hasn't turned up today either.

Don't mind that being a red tbh, zero intent to play the ball. It's not even a tactical foul it's just pure petulance.

Bottom of the group North Macedonia's Alioski with the second highest rating of the entire group stage behind only Kevin De Bruyne. Klich (again from a team bottom of their group) also makes it into the midfield with a higher rating than tournament top scorer Cristiano Ronaldo. Anyone guess what they have in common?

Said this in the match thread last night, England's attack don't press they do doggies, Southgate says he wants high intensity pressing and yet we don't press as a unit
I see Jack in the middle ambling about and think yeah maybe he could press a little bit more but then I see sterling and Kane nowhere near their man, phillips and rice are so deep that there's always a Czech central midfielder in space too, there's about 5 passes on to the man with the ball
The reason grealish doesn't run his bollocks off trying to press is because he's not an absolute **** idiot
We are awful at pressing as a team
I don’t know why this doesn’t get pointed out more often. Considering how much time Gareth’s spent watching Leeds and harping on about pressing England are incredibly passive.
Jack’s just being smart, he probably looks around at the lack of an organised press and decides he’s better off saving his energy.

I never thought I'd celebrate a Raheem Sterling goal so enthusiastically. **** get it Jack.

When are the media going to start holding Southgate to task, he's getting such an easy ride its unreal. It's everything but him to the incompetent pundits and media who aren't technical good enough to see what we lack in coaching.
I think a poor performance/result tonight and the knives will come out. Lineker and Klinsmann in particular were quite critical of his coaching style during the HT analysis of the Belgium game yesterday. Lineker essentially said our performances so far are a reflection of the manager’s personality (pint of water anyone?).

Not absolutely sure what your point is?
I enjoyed the game, we progressed through in 2nd place having rested 3 players. With a temporary Manager.
Italy committed 16 fouls and got no yellow cards, their third home game in this tournament, their third with no cards.
We played 38 minutes with 10 men. Next game is in Amsterdam which is a lot more accessible than Baku.
Everybody happy.
They got one yellow card. But I admit I was surprised that was their first considering how they play.

I think he'll rotate in the next game, Jack will play and we'll win because he's irrepressible but not convincingly because it's still a Southgate team, then he'll revert to a back five against Germany with Slabhead in for Mings and Walker at RCB and we'll go out with a whimper having maybe scored from a corner. Media will put the blame on Maguire/Henderson not being fit, Kane being out of form, or we just always lose against the Germans. Gareth will keep his job and we'll line up exactly the same at the World Cup only he'll bring Eric Dier back in for his 'tournament experience' and leave Sancho out because he hasn't played at a big tournament.

Ignoring his little fumble Danny Ward has to be the best no2 in the Premier League.
Always has a great game when I see him.

They're having fun, I'm having fun, the football is great, the passion is there, and the suits.. I think I've been won over by this Italy team. I'm definitely envious of their fans, at least.

I like watching this Italy side. They play like I imagine a team of 11 Matty Cash would play.

I can't see us actually signing him but it's a great bit of marketing by the club.

Danny Murphy with some great tactical nous there. Spain should bring on Traore (the only player he's actually seen play) to run in behind Sweden's low block.

I’m over it. If he doesn’t want to be here then I’d sooner he left than continued to pretend to be Mr Aston Villa.
I just hope his first month’s wages are spent refunding every fan that got his name on their shirt.
