  1. nice free agency period for sac. we made a move for al horford but  he didn't fancy it in the end. it's cool that he actually considered it though. dewayne dedmon replaces cauley-stein at the 5 and trevor ariza comes in as a nice option from the bench.

betting on another year of improvement from the young core of fox, bagley and hield.

    Ok, please answer two questions:

    1. How much would you pay for Tyrone Mings?

    2. If the next day a bidder came in for him, would you ask them for more money than we originally paid? If so, why?

£15m. Yes, I would ask for more because I want to make as much profit as possible. Not because I believe he's worth it, but because I want lots of money to buy more players with.

Simple question - if Aston Villa sign him for £20mil tomorrow and there is a bidder coming in for him next week, how much do you value him at?

Why can no one that disagrees with £20mil valuation answer this question?

what on earth is your point here? are you saying i'm wrong for me not wanting to take an instant loss on a player without him playing a game for the club when it wasn't even me who signed the player? what have i got to lose in that scenario?

    Jeeeeez.

Could anyone that disagrees with the £20mil valuation please answer the following question:

Once we sign him, how much would you sell him for if a bidder came in next week and what would you base your valuation on?

Because I highly doubt you would sell for £12mil because he hasn't proven himslef in the PL yet.

this makes absolutely no sense because i didn't sign him for £20m in the first place.

We were owned by a chancer and run by a bunch of charlatans last year, that’s the reason we nearly went into administration. Now we’re owned by two multi billionaire astute businessmen and run by professionals. There is zero chance of us going into administration now. We have to manage FFP,  but that is exactly what we’re doing, having the actual money isn’t an issue.

i'm aware of that. i'm just making a point that we shouldn't carelessly spend over the odds just because we can.

Fantastic news. Now for Maguire to move to United and we can bring in Axel to partner the big man.

just signed a new deal with united.

Don't care about the fee. Big clubs target a player and pay what it takes. Fergie did it all the time. Deano has decided he wants him on a permanent, Mings wants to come, Suso, Purslow and the owners have backed Deano and made it happen. Happy days and a sign of intent, or if we want our man we'll do all we can to get him.

not caring about the money is how we nearly went into administration last year.

  8. i find it difficult to accept as well but in a world where harry maguire is costing £90m and burnley are asking £40m for james tarkowski, it doesn't seem that bad

We get a bit too fixated on him being Croatia's first choice goalkeeper. Yes, they're a country that has produced some world class players, and has reached a WC Final, but he hasn't really been involved in any of that. Croatia has a small population, and besides the superstars, they often pad out their squads with some very average players.

What makes you think that a player with 102 apps for Hajduk Split and 68 apps for Gent is likely to be the real deal?

My preference would be Butland or Etheridge. Goalkeeper is a position where PL experience makes a big difference, and both of them have proved they can cut it in the PL. Aged 26 and 29 respectively, that gives you at least 6 seasons, assuming most keepers retain form into their mid-30s.

It's not so much that he's their first choice goalkeeper. It's more that we've seemingly been fixated on him for years (literally) and we're willing to give up on him after two months.

Are you kidding me?  He was easily one of the top 5 keepers in the Premier League last season.  He's absolutely fantastic all around and would be a massive improvement on Steer.  He would be the most reliable keeper we've had since Big Brad, IMO.  Some of you guys need to take off the claret & blue tinted glasses for a moment.  I love Steer and I'm happy to see the lad do well, but TBH, he didn't have much to do during our winning run and still had a few nervous moments.  Etheridge, IMO, is good enough for a team chasing a Europa League place, at least.  To get him for the reported 10 million would be the bargain signing of the season.

We've just spent £7m on Croatia's first choice goalkeeper and he deserves a proper chance to show what he can do. He's played 8 games. I don't think Etheridge is going to move the needle that much for what we would have to pay for him. If we really are looking for a new keeper, then I'd rather be a bit more ambitious and go for someone like Jiri Pavlenka or Timo Horn.

I'm not so sure about his credentials for being a premiership striker. he gets 8 chances a game in attack minded championship team and scores once.

i think he'd do fine in scotland

  12. 1. Who do you realistically want to take? #6 - Ed Oliver, Jonah Williams or Devin White. #17 - Jeffery Simmons, Jerry Tillery, Jawaan Taylor or Marquise Brown. If Haskins falls this far somehow, I'd take him here too.

    2. Who do you think you will ACTUALLY take? Montez Sweat and Daniel Jones

    3. Who do you think might fall to your spot who you would take instead? Quinnen Williams

    4. Who do you want to completely avoid? Rashan GaryMontez Sweat and Daniel Jones

That's still a big no to me.

Kalinic is still learning the league and we can't afford that at this stage of the season. Steer till the end of the season to me, the back 5 is settled now, don't change it.

is there any difference between being a goalkeeper in the championship and being a goalkeeper in any other league?

Peppers and Zeitler are good pick-ups. Shame to see them leave Cleveland.

we've traded a pass rusher and and a wide receiver, two premium positions,  for a safety and a guard, which are two of the least valuable.

not that gettleman even considers positional value. he did take a running back second overall after all.
