It causes a stir and lets us look like we are in even more turmoil. This whole thing has been handled very badly from everyone concerned and if General K can't contain his emotion, he needs to stay away because all the negativity about the club's situation have followed on from his posts.

As for Houllier, if this doesn't give him the 'I want to prove you wrong!' then nothing will.

For me, I am happy about this appointment and have been since hsi name was mentioned. When was the last time AVFC have been able to attract a manager with a CV like that. Not even Big Fat Ron had a CV close to Houllier's. The guy is successful and too many people have let their hatred of other teams cloud their judgement about the potential this appointment has.

Thompson was already part of the backroom team at Plop before Houllier arrived so it will be no different if K Mac gets the number 2 role with him at Villa. Like I ahve said before, it will be interesteing to see which coaches he appoints because there are some pretty handy French coaches coaching their national development teams.

Sounds about right, so many have made up their own stories to fit their arguements that Houllier is rubbish just because he isn't the cnadidate that they wanted. i think he will be a breath of fresh air to the club and I can see us moving forward again. Probably not top 4 but certainly consolidating 6th if not pushing 5th.

Staunton for the reserves is good because obviously K Mac will be involved in 1st team affairs. All this about Houllier picking his backroom team, Thompson had worked with previous managers before Houllier at Plop. It's the other coaches that get appointed that I am interesting in seeing. The idea of Houllier is growing on me a bit now but we better forget what it was like to get players through from our youths scheme as Houllier seems to have more the Medusa touch than the Midas touch when it comes to young player.

The massive plus side of Thommo is that he will have seen a lot of the teams play this season as part of his punditry and will have already built up an understadning of some of their strengths and weaknesses, as well as ours. He will know Stoke will be going direct and playing the power game. the question is how to do we perpare to counter it and win.

I'm beginning to feel that the board have treated K Mac quite poorly in this (although he didn't help hiumself with his dithering). It's like they lead him up the garden path. I hope they can get him a first team role within the new set up and him not walking away.

IIRC, Houllier had another job after Plop. Lot's of people have been saying you are only as good as your last job. Ok, Lyon had won the league for 4 years previous but as someone pointed out, Avram Grant had pretty much the same squad as Mourinho yet couldn't win the league. People are also going on about his signings at Plop. What about his signings at Lyon. Some of those were impressive and were wither sold for huge profit (Diarra) or contributed well. I have changed my mind plenty of times about who I want to be manager but I am willing to give this guy a chance. He is well respected in the game and is just as big of not bigger name than MON. Give him a **** chance!
