Good article. I remember getting excited by every thing villa no matter how small. During the DOL years especially near the end I was almost going through the motions of being a fan. Now the passion is back and the future is bright. Seeing players like young and gabby giving everything for the villa and a captain like barry who could be one of the all time greats for villa (Where is he on our appearance's list now, closing in on 400?) excites me.

I can’t help but feel that as each season goes by with small heath in the premiership, the obsession with them seems to crank up another gear.

I think if small heath were always in the premiership then this derby would have less significance (see the north london derby or Manc derby or Merseyside derby) but because they are so shit we always think: well we have to beat them twice this year because they may/will be relegated and we won't be playing them again.

If we always played them at least twice every year then the intensity level would decrease. A good example is the Sunderland vs. Newcastle derby, I expect sunderland to stay up for the next few years and I think that derby will lose intensity over the next few years.

and the revolution that is PES 2008 in Wii have changed my mind about the console. Games aren't about graphics they are about gameplay. I have voted the Wii becuase its the best value for money by a distance but in the long run the MicroScum X-red light-box will probably be the best console.

Although comparing the new next gen consoles is like comparing apple and oranges really.

Randy has supplied the money the problem lies squarely at the door of the manager. He seems reluctant to spend money and whether or not we are able to attract the top players is guesswork really. MON's relutance to spend and his apparant insistance on buying British based players is the problem IMO. The summer will tell all. Its the biggest summer I can remember as a villa fan. If the players don't arrive the fans will/may turn on the manager before the season even starts.

I think he will spend the money in the summer though, whether or not he buys the right players I am not so sure.

Would it be possible to have a white border on the crest on the home jersey?

I think the white border gives the crest more of a pop and would look better against the claret background of the home jersey. Like in the below picture the crest border doesn't really stand despite the lighter shade of claret used.
