Agree about the music and the PA system
But to me villa at large are stuck with what we used to be rather than what we now are both in terms of playing style and being scared
Too many fans still believe football should be played by getting the ball out wide to wingers and running at people, no matter how much success it brings us Emery will seemingly still be tippy tappy shite to too many people
I'm guessing a lot of people there last night will defend it because they didn't see it but seriously the camera panning around VP in the 85th minute was shocking how glum the place was
Fully agree with this. As a fan base I think we're quite old-fashioned in some respects.

Opta's latest view - much the same as above - has 57.8% chance of the extra place, but down from 82.5% before this week's round:

Although FFS...
Given that their own 'supercomputer' gives Man U a 3.5% chance of getting 5th that is really crap.
This is what I said a few days ago - Man United are a red herring and have been for a while. We should've been worrying far more about 5th not getting CL in recent weeks, and I include myself in that.

the amount of headers he is scoring now is an improvement a complete striker
Made doubly more impressive when you remember that unlike Haaland he's not some 6'5 monster.

I suppose even in the worst case realistic scenario (we get knocked out by Lille, finish 5th but 5th doesn't get CL), we've still had our best season in decades, and that's despite all the injuries. Just have to keep some perspective.

If he doesn't go to the Euros it'll be a **** disgrace. He's clearly better than Toney on literally every level except penalty taking.

Nothing we can do now if Arsenal lose. It's over then unless Leverkusen **** up
As much as you may wish that to be the case, that simply isn't true.

Atletico have never lost a home UCL knockout game under Simeone, they’ll be fine.
They were playing at home tonight.

Over a year and a half and 73 competitive games into his Villa tenure and his approval rating has still probably never dropped below 95%. Incredible.
At this point in their tenures, Slippy, Di Matteo, Sherwood, Garde and McLeish had already been sacked, Smith and Lambert had had a couple of really rough spells and Bruce was already fairly widely disliked.

Good night for our chances. Looks like the season begins tonight.

Excellent results for us (well, all but one of us) so far. Hope it stays this way.

They'll shithouse a couple of wins before the end of the season and just about stay up. Again.

He still is one of our main weak links, but he's still a decent player who we have missed having available.

I think people should be less worried about Man United catching us and a little more worried about 5th place not getting the Champions League spot.

So 5th or 6th is where we will end up then after this weekends events. It’s the difference between playing in the champions league and playing in the europa league.. I’ll tell ya, I’ll be disappointed if we end up out the champs league places having spent so much of the season in them. I think 4th is Spurs’ to lose now. They have a tough run of fixtures, sure, but they aren’t 4th because they are a terrible side. I reckon they’ll hold it. Roll on the end of the season, it’s starting to get a bit nervy now.
Or 4th, which we objectively have more of a chance of finishing in than 6th. 5th is by far the most likely though.

Not sure what expected has to do with it. Villa were expected to beat relegation fodder Brentford yesterday and failed spectacularly.
With that being said not all is terrible. Just a healthy debate on form.
My point is that people in here tend to massively overreact to things.

Oh give me a break. We were on a 15 game home winning streak and had just beaten Man City and Arsenal back to back. We were playing a side who have 16 points after 31 games.
That's an embarrassing excuse.
I mean we should've won the game regardless but the refereeing definitely had an impact on that game more than most.

I presume things are all terrible again now that Spurs have (as expected) beaten Forest at home.

Worth noting that United have thrown away 7 points after the 80th minute in the last 3 games (by comparison we've gained 1 point in that time).

Another weekend where we haven’t furthered the gap
Irrelevant - they only have 7 games left and the gap is already large enough that they already have to put together a ridiculous run of results to even have a chance of overtaking us.
Also, we widened the gap by 2 points last weekend.

He's responding to the previous post that said 'That was the last time we finished sixth'.
Oh fair enough.
Was going to say, at this point in that season we were 5th and only a point ahead of 6th!

Unless I've missed something, won't they be back by August?
