  1. Has to start with Carlos for me now as our new partnership. And we need to give them a run of games to settle and learn each others game, no knee-jerk reactions.

For me Torres and Carlos will compliment each other the best with Torres being the calm, ball playing defender; with Carlos being the dominant, aerial ball winning defender. The language barrier will also be easiest with those two both speaking Spanish.

For me Konsa is better with Mings being the more vocal defender next to him and organising the defence, he fell apart after Mings went off although the whole back line suffered and our high line was a shambles.

Agree completely. The club will easily be able to shift any excess as match day tickets and charge an even bigger premium for the pleasure. Worst case they just direct the overseas Lions tickets there and they’ll get snapped up.

Lots of people on this thread basically want the Terrace View to fail.

I hope the Terrace View does fail, or rather than fail just doesn't get the traction that the club hoped for.

I completely understand why people are taking the option, and I'm pleased that people such as @GeordieVillan get the opportunity to watch the club for a season. It's something that I take for granted each season as a long term season ticket holder.

However the more takers to a scheme like the Terrace View, the more the club will expand it and roll out similar schemes around the ground. The club are tailoring to a new market now and a lot of our supporters will eventually be left behind.

    Just comparing to last season:

    Cat A:

    £59 to £68

    £54.50 to £63

    £50.50 to £58.50

    Cat B:

    £44 to £51

    £39.50 to £45.50

    £36.50 to £42

When you look at these prices it looks as though the club have continued the 15% price increases to the match day tickets.

The prices are a joke though with season tickets roughly working out as £41 a game, charging fans upto £68 a game is unnecessary.

The clubs going in a different direction, and they haven't yet realised that they won't be taking the large proportion of fans with them. It's understandable that the club need to make more money if they want to buy players and pay the high wages; however they are acting as though we are a London team and effectively trying to push out the working class fan base. The majority of loyal support at Villa Park have been with the club when it was knocking around the lower end of the PL, through relegation, and into the Championship; it would be nice if the club could bring those supporters with them for the good times.

  5. Hear me out... I wouldn't be against keeping hold of Sanson and giving him some minutes. His loan spell has given him consistent game time and he can now get a pre season under his belt with Emery. He was very good yesterday, and we struggled to control the midfield until he came on at the start of the first half. He uses the space well, and provides options for the triangles in the middle of the pitch.

Our current midfield options going into the season are Kamara, Luiz, McGinn and Tielemans. This leaves us with Dendoncker and Sanson as backup options, and rotation options for cup competitions. Ramsey is likely out for the first 2 months, and Tim is going to need slowly integrating if he stays with us.

Obviously there is likely a chance we sign another midfielder, in which case it makes sense to offload Sanson.

  6. Great player, would score goals in most PL teams and his stints at United and Chelsea were so stop start that he never showed what he could really do. His PL goalscoring records alone speaks for itself.

However, he just wouldn't fit our system. He's almost the complete opposite of the type of striker we need. I also think there's no chance we are going anywhere near his wages.

  7. I actually hate the new badge now, after initially really liking it. It looks really poor on the kits and on the training gear, as people have said the monochrome look with the circle on the training gear looks so amateur. Combine this with the poor detailing on the shirt, stuck on instead of being embroided, making it look really tacky on it's first appearance. The club have really messed up here, a season with two badges and then next season having to make a further change looks really stupid. The lack of fanfare for the new badge tells us it's almost guaranteed that we change again.

Looking back the old badge is actually really nice, it could probably do with some tweaks, even just taking away the shield would have been enough. But it gave us options, on some of the training gear in recent seasons it's been monochrome with the shirt colour behind the lion and it's looked really good.

  8. It's almost as though the club have moved onto another level since he's been with us.

Bailey is a notable improvement on El Ghazi, Trezeguet and Traore. However we now need the next level of winger.

Overall so far he's been disappointing, and I wouldn't be against him if we can recoup the money invested.

McCormack could kick a football though.

Hogan was shit. Still a better buy than at £15m than Wes was at £20m.

Hogan scored 7 Championship goals in 56 appearances - goal ratio of 0.125

Wesley scored 5 Premier League goals in 25 appearances - goal ratio of 0.2

Technically Wesley was less shit than Hogan.

  10. Fans regard Wesley as a poor signing, and for the money and how it's turned out since the injury it's a fair assesment.

But realistically if you look at the 19/20 season we stayed up by 1 point.

Wesley scored goals that contributed to winning us 6 points.

Everton - Goal and contribution to El Ghazi's late goal

Burnley - Scored the goal before his injury that put us on the way to winning

He also contributed to the Norwich win, although it is likely we would have won anyway.

Chances are if he had stayed fit that season he would have scored more vital goals and would have been hailed as one of the main reasons we retained PL status.

  11. Is it just me or does he seem to do everything we’ve been trying to get Mings to stop doing the last few seasons?

No doubt about it he’s very good at what he does and controls the ball well, an outstanding ball playing defender.

Geez some of you need to go out and chill and enjoy the sun or get laid or something … the OTT reactionary bollox being spouted is borderline psychotic and lacks any sense of perspective and shows that some of y’all should maybe just get a life outside of Villa and VT … All in my opinion but some of the responses from grown up men/ ladies / non-binary is so childlike and not based on any logic other than faux outrage and bandwagon behaviour … The new round badge is pretty shit and shows why fans shouldn’t have a say in crucial design and aesthetic decisions. Most don’t seem to know out ass from our elbows when it comes down to these types of things…. Go have a Tommy tank or connect with nature and then ask yourself why do I care so much and then maybe y’all see what I see which is kinda a none issue imo. Just my take on it which is as valid as your desires to deride the club and froth at the mouth over a bloody badge… All in my humble opinion

In fairness the crest is the image of the club that we all support; it would be nice to have a club crest that supporters can be proud of.

It's not the supporters fault if the choices that the club offered up to vote on were not of a high standard.

    Here is a solution.

Run a new poll, for those entitled to vote last time, with the new badge we voted for in 2022 alongside a new version with the lion facing the traditional way? I am thinking it is the 'wrong' facing lion that caused issues with the new crest?

I think it needs sorting ASAP and this might be a way out.

And if the one lion facing backwards wins then we have a lion facing the wrong way this season?

I feel like that would be even worse...

With all the team leaks before hand, I had already done my free transfer as couldn’t risk another as was 8 points behind one in another league, luckily he didn’t have Kane and I did and stuck the captain on him to win by 19 as it was going to be on Salah but I knew he had him, same with this league the one who was top didn’t have Kane either 🙂

Congratulations, I'll pass the Irreverentad League crown over to you this year!

I had a few shocking weeks which left me at 114k overall this year; beating 8k last season was always going to be tough.

Well city fkd us over there. I'm sure if they needed to win 4 or 5 of those playing wouldn't have had a sniff of being on the pitch unless they were 3 or more up.

It's 7th to 9th now, hopefully Brighton now have a party and don't turn up on Sunday.

You were expecting us to beat Brighton by 17 goals on Sunday?

I wish I was as optimistic as you!

I've shared this fella's videos before, but thought this was an interesting one from a few months back. He's bought a non-runner Lamborghini Murcielago from a race day company which hasn't run for the better part of a decade. It's riddled with surprises and nightmares, but the one thing that really comes up over and over is Lamborghini likes using parts from other manufacturers and charging a lot more to sell them to you. In this video he buys some throttle components. Lamborghini charge a grand for them. But they're actually Volvo parts that you can get for a fifth of that. The ash tray is an Audi one with a piece of plastic glued to it. The side repeaters are off a Focus. The interior has bits of leather glued to the body. They charge £400 for a spanner needed to work on the engine...

    ...

Part of the appeal of being able to buy one of these must be the feeling that you don't have to care about being ripped off.

You shared his videos a while ago and I've actually become addicted to them; watched almost every series he's done now.

    The lambo series is superb!
