How many extra points do you get for artistic impression again?
In all seriousness though I don't really get your point. What is being masked from whom? I don't see anyone even the most ardent of Bruce fans lauding the way we are playing. Quite the opposite in fact, I think most people see our play is limited in its technical merit much like many of our players and largely as a result of them.
I don't see anything being masked from anyone.
As for 'elements of luck' just some have gone Bruce's way others have gone against him. This luck line is something you seem to keep referring to in a way to try and detract from the results he has achieved.
Not everyone has to be a fan of Bruce or indeed his football (although it's hard to label it that when he hasn't signed a single one of the players) it's a free world and everyone is entitled to their views.
I do though think it's a little rich to try and imply people who think otherwise are some hoodwinked or blinded by results.
I struggle to think of a period in which a Villa managers performance has been viewed quite so pragmatically by most fans.
My point is simple. I don't believe we will continue to gain results playing so poorly. Once again we struggled against one of the leagues better teams.
Happy to be proven wrong of course but I think it's only a matter of time before the results mirror the woeful performances.

I'm not so sure it works that way. Just look at Pogba.
There's a difference between costing and being worth....

If you are a big believer in the fact that alot of this is down to "luck", you should be cursing our "luck" at all the times we have been leading only to give away a goal in the end?
shouldn't it be balanced out then?
Where did I say a lot of it was luck?

But we're in the Mark Bunn thread and I was saying it wasn't Bunn's fault.....
I know.

Not when he made the save he wasn't. Amavi was completely the wrong side of him.
Amavi was standing near him, I wouldn't call that marking.
Exactly my point. I was saying that amavi was supposedly marking him but making a total arse of it.

To go up this season I think we need
Gk
Rb
Lb
2 X cm (both able to create)
St
And all 6 to hit the ground running.
Would sell
Ayew
Gestede
Amavi
Gillini
Westwood

It bounced right in front of him and there was an unmarked player in his way.
He was being marked by amavi......... oh yeah. Unmarked!

Didn't think he was great last night but agree he's our best player. By a mile.

Head and shoulders above the rest in terms of movement and brain. I don't see how he fits into the team tho but then again it's about the 5th season running where I'm totally lost as to the plan/position of players.

The football is as dire as I've ever seen. It's masked by results, some of which have an element of luck to it but make no mistake about it we are a shocking team to watch.

They said it last night on SkySports, when he got that chance, the Messi's and Aguero's of he world would have dinked the ball to McCormack, whereas the Kodjia's (et al) of the world get tunnel vision and go for goal, and that's the difference between being pretty good and trying to make it and the world class superstars.
The commentators here were talking horseshit. Basic awareness.

After half a season I think it's fair to evaluate that we massively overpaid for him.
9 goals is an ok return but I can think of several championship strikers who I would have before him.
Thinks he's a lot better than he is, misses a host of chances and wastes too many attacks.
Question marks over whether he should be the main striker if we really want to kick on in this league. Absolutely no doubt in my mind that he would get swallowed up in the premier league.

The rumoured 25m bid affected him last night which can happen to an even more experienced player.
Can happen to any player that is not worth 25m in fact.
A 25m player deals with pressure.

I'm pretty sure I remember the commentator remarking at how dangerous the cross was. Sure we're on the same page here? The one where he tracked back all the way to goal right after right?
Yes. I'm sure they said what I said..... but I was shouting at him tbf.

I'll have to see it again, but I remember both Kodjia and Ayew narrowly missing it.
Nah. A very aimless delivery that prompted the commentary to highlight the amount of time/lack of quality

I've been wrong about Ashley Westwood for 5 years!

That was actually a pretty good cross. Went behind the defence and was only inches away from being met.
Are you kidding?

A few posters mentioning 'luck'. Interesting.

then had a pretty good game.
I disagree. Pretty anonymous game.
Awful cross when in acres. Tracked back well on resulting Leeds break.
Nearly got adomah through at the end.
Otherwise, I don't really remember much.

I think people forget that this isn't a very good level at all. This wasn't an isolated performance. This was his 3rd/4th bad performance this month.
I genuinely don't know what people are looking at to rate him as the best lb in the league. Based on tonight he's not even the best lb at the club.

**** off. Need a LB in Jan.

Just like he was at Elland Road and Norwich, he's been awful.
Massively massively overated on here.

We've gone from kinda playing Brighton off the pitch to appointing Calderwood and being shit in every game since , hope it's just a coincidence
It wasn't great to watch before Brighton tbh.

What do I suggest should be done? It's got really very little to do with what I suggest.
My advice would be that the very well paid professional coaching staff should do some more work on ball retention and decision making.... especially when to clear the ball or play out of trouble or when to dribble as oppose to passing.
And go from there.... I don't think it's a case of some miraculous occurrence to sort it out but I really don't think it's to much of an overeacation to expect a damn sight better than what we currently are dished up.
