Compared to the first two games of the season I agree. We seem a little less headless, and against far better opposition. I think it suits us to hang back. Like the team selection, too. Not looking like we'll win, but...

One reason I'm happy this is away (and it's the only reason) is that there's been a depressing amount of talk recently about how bad our fans are. Mentioned on MOTD, Sky and elsewhere that 'they tend to get on your back up there' and a Wigan player said the same thing after beating us. Even MON came out in the Guardian and had to ask the fans to stop boing at half-time, asking us to hold off for full-time. (What a pessimist, obviously assumes we'll lose, lol!) Anyway, I reckon our away support is always class and will show people tonight that we know how to chant and sing and support our team. Should hopefully shut some people up for a while. As for the game though, we're gonna get hammered 2-0 or some such.

I think it's widely accepted that our nickname is Villans. But I like calling them the lions rampant sometimes, when I'm in a very pretentious mood.

Some of those signings weren't terrible, but what bothers me is that these players don't improve under O'Neill. Davies, Sidwell, Shorey. These are perhaps average players but all have or had potential. Yet has any of them improved since they got here? Ash went on a blinding streak for a while but now even he's come down from the peak. Not gonna call for O'Neills head unless it's the end of the season and it's all gone pear-shaped. But it's looking ropey.

When NRC didn't play against Wigan he became a Zidane-like figure in my mind, who would come back and lead us to two wins from one match while curing cancer. Funny how these things don't work out how they do in your dreams...
