  1. Amir Khan’s US debut has hit complications with the British World Boxing Association light-welterweight champion stranded in the Canadian city of Vancouver as he awaits the confirmation of a work visa to fight in the United States. Khan is due to defend the WBA 140lb title against Paulie Malignaggi on May 15 at Madison Square Garden, but had to transfer to Vancouver from the Los Angeles gym of trainer Freddie Roach a week ago after an application for his work visa for the contest became an issue. Khan was forced to leave and go to Canada to re-apply for the work permit. It is believed the delay may have been caused after US officials scrutinised Khan’s motoring offences in the UK. In October 2007 Khan, then 20, was convicted of careless driving after he went through a red light and injured a pedestrian. He was driving his £87,000 BMW convertible in Bradshawgate, Bolton, when he struck Geoffrey Hatton on a pelican crossing. Mr Hatton, 55, suffered a broken leg in the incident. Khan was cleared of dangerous driving, but found guilty of careless driving. He was given a six-month driving ban and fined £1,000. Three months later he was back in court to face magistrates for an earlier offence of speeding. A police officer said his own speedometer was "off the clock" at 155mph as he pursued the boxer on the M62 motorway near Rochdale. He was fined £1,000 and banned for 42 days for speeding in his BMW. Last summer, Khan, 22, was behind the wheel of his Range Rover when he was involved in an accident with a cyclist. A spokesman for the police later added that no further action would be taken against Khan. The delay in the visa has meant that Freddie Roach, Khan’s trainer, yesterday flew to Vancouver from his base at the Wild Card Boxing Club in Hollywood to ensure that Khan’s preparations are kept on track ahead of a vital contest in his career, as he attempts to win over US boxing fans. Khan-Malignaggi will be screened on US cable giants HBO, while it is expected that an announcement is imminent for ITV to show the contest in the UK. According to a source at Golden Boy Promotions, Khan’s handlers in the US, it may be up as long as a week before the work visa could be issued from the US Consulate in Vancouver. Robert Diaz, the matchmaker for Oscar De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions, speaking exclusively to The Daily Telegraph, said: “Amir Khan has had to go to Vancouver, and it is due to a few incidents when he was younger, but we are completely confident that he will be in New York to defend his title ahead of the fight with Malignaggi. “Khan is a professional, and he has maintained his focus throughout the events that have taken place. Freddie Roach has gone up to Vancouver because it has taken longer to sort this out than we at first thought.” An added twist to the May 15 event is that Colombian Breidis Prescott, Khan’s nemesis 17 months ago, has been added to the Madison Square Garden undercard. Prescott was beaten by East Londoner Kevin Mitchell in Newcastle last December, propelling his career forward. Mitchell now faces Michael Katsidis for the interim World Boxing Organisation lightweight title on May 15, at Upton Park, hours before Khan, visa permitting, will meet Malignaggi.
  2. "IBF Chairman Lindsey Tucker confirms that heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko formally notified the sanctioning organization about his intention to fight WBA champion David Haye of England. He told the IBF his team is involved in negotiations with Haye's co-promoter, Sauerland Event and manager Adam Booth. Because Klitschko is pursuing a unification fight, the IBF tells sportsbox.ru the mandatory defense owed to Alexander Povetkin has been pushed back to a later date. Previously the sanctioning organization ordered Klitschko and Povetkin to reach an agreement by April 26. "According to our rules, holding a unification fight, as I said earlier, has priority over a mandatory defense," Tucker said."
  3. I can't see Dirrell winning. Away from home he will probably be punished for his refusal to exchange shots, again.
  4. I ain't going anywhere near you and a van you sick ****!
  5. We're officially in a parallel universe Yeh, a dream world. Roach killed Valero so Pacquiao and Khan didn't have to fight him And then told Pac to make up a really good cover story blaming the family so no one would suspect him.
  6. We're officially in a parallel universe Yeh, a dream world.
  7. Save him for Kevin Mitchell. Then give him the Marvin Hagler treatment as Witton suggested .
  8. Sorry Chindie, but you're coming across like a bit of a cock here, which is not the impression I get of you from your normal posts. Live and let live, 'n all that jazz.
  9. Khan: "In the next four years I will have all my big fights, so in five years time I will be gone," Khan said to the paper. "When I hit my peak I will be fighting men like Floyd Mayweather Junior and Manny Pacquiao. They will be my last few fights. There are so many big fights in my division, but my body will tell me when to call it a day." Can't be running out of feather fists to fight can we now?!
  10. :-) but is it me or does Spiderman appear to have a large red arrow pointing down to his crotch  Can't say I was looking.
  11. I want to watch Facing Ali again now  Foreman and Frazier
  12. So you can see Khan beating Pac in the future then? :winkold: That does sound like something Ali would have done tbf.
  13. "If carl froch wants a new job because I think he should pack it in now, he can work for Khan promotions and put up my posters and I'll pay" I need to step checking his page.
  14. Has anyone asked him why there was no Prescott rematch yet? I bet he says "I've moved on from that now" which basically means "I'm only being matched with feather-fisted fighters from now on, and no **** mistake" Still at least he can brag about looking good in sparring with Pac....Larry Holmes made a decent career out of being a sparring partner to a great too. I must go and wash my mouth out with soap and water, fancy mentioning Larry Holmes in the same sentence as Amir Khan  Not that i've seen. I bet he would say that though, well mabye not the feather-fisted bit. Comparing Holmes' relationship to Ali with Khan's to Pac? That's awful. Please take your own advice, asap.
