  1. Absolute joke...

Expect us to fork out 15 quid every time there is a boxing event on and they can't even keep half the lineup intact.

Got robbed for haye v harrison, not going to be robbed again.

I'm not sure what you want them to do. Force Wlad and Gavin to fight when they aren't fit?

This is nothing like Haye vs Harrison. More fool you for paying £15 for that farce but don't let that taint the image of Boxing.

No i don't expect them to force unfit fighters to fight but maybe a discount on the listed price or something?

I bought the harrison - haye fight knowing it would be a joke but i expected some kind of undercard, they were so cagey about it on the run up i couldnt even find out and it ended up being one fight. Thats a piss take imo. A bit like expecting people to still pay full price even though 2 of the head line names aren't even fighting anymore.

    Fair point.

Sky were 'cagey' about the undercard because they knew it was shite and that the people were not going to buy the fight for the undercard. It turned out to be better than expected in the end, Anderson-Groves was a late replacement and we got a good scrap there.

I don't think you can say Frankie Gavin, fighting as a 1/100 favourite with some bookies, was a headline name really.

  3. In Khan news...

'Amir Khan: ''Mayweather blanked me on twitter'

''He was following me on twitter and then all these people were going on about us fighting and he stopped following me. He's blanked me ever since. I know he could read all the messeges that people were tweeting and I dont think he liked it.

''So now I have blanked him aswell''.

  4. Wlad has pulled out of the Chisora fight with a "back injury"

I assume there was more than a 1% chance he might lose then?

Del Boy didn't have a hope in hell mate. It's a strange one considering he did an open workout just a few hours ago.

Brook's opponent has also pulled out, Afrobum steps in.

Clev's opponent has pulled out, not sure if they'll get a replacement.

Gavin has pulled out with Flu.

  5. The Steve Bunce show was good this week.

I like Bunce. His show can be a bit hit or miss depending on the guests he has on. Good interviews with Fraudley, Bernard Hopkins and James DeGale this week though. Check it out.

I love Bunce. He took a lot of stick for having Audley on but justified it with his questioning for me. Hopkins was on fantastic form as well. I wasn't expecting to hear him on the Bunce our after http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lwzjtJu9wA4.

  6. "I think the Vitali Klitschko beating of Shannon Briggs a few weeks earlier and the public outcry made the referee jump in early and I was denied the opportunity to show my grit, determination and desire to be in there and compete and try to get back on level terms."

    Yes, that's it.

  7. Michael Bisping should be on that list. Great article here by Gareth A Davies about the BBC snubbing Bisping yet again.

This cannot continue. The finalists for the BBC Sports Personality of the Year award were announced tonight and, not surprisingly, there isn’t a mixed martial artist to be found.

The shortlist has representatives from darts, diving, the world’s best cyclist, golf, and Winter Olympics, a heptathlon champion, an England cricketer and boxer David Haye.

But where is UFC middleweight contender Michael Bisping? Representing his native Manchester, he has fought in Sydney, Las Vegas and London in 2010. Many rank him as one the leading middleweights in the world.

David Haye’s two world title fights in 2010, as big as they were in the UK, were not screened in the US. All of Bisping’s bouts since 2006 have been seen in 147 countries, in 19 languages. It is quite possible that Bisping, not Haye or Amir Khan or even Ricky Hatton, is the most-watched British fighter of the last five years.

And yet the BBC, paid for by the British public, refuses to give Bisping – or his sport – any coverage, including on its website.

    More here

    http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/sport/garethadavies/100014042/bbc-snubs-mixed-martial-artist-bisping-again/

I'd say it's because he is virtually unknown to the general public. He might have been watched by half of the US, it doesn't make him any bigger in Britain. Maybe there is a case for UFC to be broadcast on the BBC, but until they start broadcasting Boxing again they can get ****.

  8. Westwood for me. He managed to knock Tiger Woods off ther number 1 spot after years of him being on top. Then he was so influentail during the Ryder cup. Haye second and Tom Daley 3rd. European Ryder cup team for the team prize and Federer for the overseas personality.

    Haye second?

Shouldn't even be on the list if we're going by Sporting achievement. I'd have him behind both Froch and Burns.

  9. Does anyone know what time the Froch fight starts?

10:40 the bloke from Primetime said on ESB.

IIRC Katsidis showed a lot of class in his interview after defeating Kevin Mitchell at Upton Park. For that I hope he does well against Marquez. Froch V Abraham should hopefully be the complete opposite of Haye V Fraudley.

A lot of class, indeed. I really don't mind who wins this one , 2 very likeable fighters.

Both fights tonight have the makings of wars. Bring it on!

  10. Cracking night of fights tomorrow.

I wonder how many people are even aware there is a Briton fighting for a world title tomorrow, or are even aware of who Carl Froch is? Mick Henessey really is a shit promoter.

Looking forward to it actually, is it on telly?

Slightly worried here though, Froch just keeps having war after war and eventually it's going to catch up with him and that chin will finally shatter, no-one can take what he takes and have longevity. The Abraham fight is make or break time I reckon. Neither guy is big on technique and defence that's for sure but Abraham hits like a truck. I'm picking a mid rounds stoppage for Abraham, it pains me to do it though. TKO5 would be my guess.

On a different note, I'm just reading the ESB thread about Hagler V Calzaghe....**** hell

Primetime £15 with Ward-Bika thrown in after. I can't say I'm excited about that one.

The two most obvious outcomes are AA T/KO or Froch on points. I'm leaning towards AA stoppage at the moment, although I've been changing my mind constantly. I'm not convinced Froch can fight to a game plan for 12 rounds without getting sucked into a war with AA. Also, even if he does stick to the plan, I don't think trying to emulate what Dirrell did is going to work for Carl. His footwork isn't good enough. So I can see AA cornering him in the later rounds and landing a big shot through Froch's leaky defence.

I'm not convinced Hagler could make 168 these days tbh. I'll still go with him though. :winkold:
