Blackburn are moving for Honda for 12m apparently. I know absolutely nothing about him but I seem to remember him being mentioned a few times on here in the past.

SkySports Sky Sports
Aston Villa have agreed fee with Manchester City for Shay Given reports @skysportsnews #MCFC #AVFC http://bit.ly/e71vI6
Brilliant, this will be an outrageously good signing for us. One of the best keepers in the league.
-
Rumours eminating from Wigan side are that this was a done deal anyway a week or so ago, the ball was very much in Villa's court.
So why have we not got him signed yet?
Personal terms maybe? Might be a sticky situation considering this is what caused the SHA move in January to fall through.

General,
You still have the support of a great many Villans, myself included - good luck with Summer business, I've got every faith in the board to pull through.
All the best!

Started writing a reply to the people completely dismissing Scott Parker (England International, player of the season) and just couldn't be bothered to click submit. Absolutely absurd.

Don't get the hate for Downing.
To me he is no worse than Barry, Milner and Ash.
They all left at the first opportunity to go to the first club that showed an interest and had better finances.
Downing has made as much profit for us as Ash as well.
We just need to move on, re-invest and show them what they are missing at VP.
Think it was probably the 'I will repay the faith shown in me' and 'I'll stay even if Villa are relegated' quotes that most people are a bit peeved about.
I had a look and that article was published on Sky Sports on 1st April! Ah, the irony.

Some festival goers......
I went to the Sonisphere festival this weekend which was truly brilliant. However, the people at the spot next to us were playing Slayer at top volume until around 6am, every night. Just Slayer. 2 Slayer albums over and over and over again. Absolute bastards. You don't go to festivals to sleep, but surely there's a limit!

That's as maybe. But you're describing (the good) half of the Premier League there. Maybe we are just not used to handling players of this ability and/or mindset. The flair players can often be more difficult to keep happy. But if we could do it then he'd solve a big problem. He's a spoilt baby. Many on here dont buy that ''he's streets ahead of anyone else in the squad in terms of ability'' line, but i do.
Its no coincidence that when he was playing alongside Robiniho he looked like a superstar.
He is that good.
Yep, before the away game at SHA when Craig Bellamy was in the sky studio, he said that Ireland was the best player he played with at City. Mental....
-
I wonder does Ireland need a tough in your face manager to perform?
Houllier and Mancini seem quite similar with their cool, calm restrained approach while I would say Mcleish is quite like Mark Hughes (the manager who got the best out of SI).
We'll see.
I think he just needs to feel wanted and appreciated maybe? Hughes made him his main midfielder and he seemed to perform better and better the more he was praised. Since then, he's had managers who couldn't care less about him and his form has plummeted.

N'Zogbia = average mid table signing. He's been a consistently average preformer that will help us maintain our midtable status, BUT, instead of being 6th with Ashley Young under MON, we'll be a little worse off with N'Zogbia under McCleish.
McCleish I beg you to look further afield then these slightly below average mid table players. Europe is a big continent lets look there!!
Pretty much single-handedly kept Wigan up at the end of last season......
Remember we bought Downing from a relegated Boro and he's turned out ok.

Chris Moyles.
But for this thread in particular, David Sullivan.

Off to see Morrissey tonight @ Plymouth Pavilions. Always a good show.
-
He's a top keeper, with a lot of international caps coming from a Champions League team.....he's going to be on a high wage, and I wouldn't have a problem with us paying them. He will save us a lot of points over the course of a season, a great keeper.

Spector - Never Fade Away.
Heard it on Nick Grimshaw's Radio 1 show on the way home from work about half an hour ago, and have listened to it twice since I've been home. Bloody marvellous.

You're deluded if you cant see that Liverpool are a more attractive club than us.
Without delving into the past of either club..
How are Liverpool a better attraction than Aston Villa? (other than our recent piss poor appointment of a manager?)
You honestly believe we are even close to being as attractive as Liverpool are?
They are a global brand, huge, massive, known world wide!
We ahead of them regards training facilities, ground, stadium etc.
Anfield is in dire need of upgrading.
Bodymoor Heath is one of the best training grounds in the world.
Our corporate facilities, location to BHX International airport etc are top drawer.
Aston Villa is all set.. We just need the right manager to take us forward..All the facilities, ground, backing are top class.
Liverpool have gone backwards and need to re-invest in their ground, facilities etc to bring them into the modern era. They strive on past successes. And at this present time are not a better attraction to a player than Aston Villa(other than our piss poor managerial appoinment)..Downing was willing to sign a new contract under Houllier.
You're talking about Anfield......along with Camp Nou and the San Siro, probably one of the most iconic football grounds in the world?
By that argument, you're also saying that MK Dons are ahead of Liverpool as they have a nice new shiny stadium.

That ITV2 or ITV3 show either Apollo 13 or Twister every weekend. I know I don't have to watch them, but show something different.
-
-
They won't get to the group stages of the Europa unless they get a really cushy draw.
I thought they qualified automatically for the group stages?
See Rapid Vienna, last two seasons

I would also like to add, Affleck did 'Pearl Harbour'....dear oh dear oh dear!
"If they're all like you, God help anyone who goes to war with America"......an actual line from that film.

Honey Roasted peanuts......I'm addicted to those lovely bastards.
-
I think it's certainly the most controversial appointment in the history of football.
The Harry Redknapp Pomepy-Southampton-Pompey was well up there....similar to this really.

shes mint
whats mcliesh's bird like?
Call her a Villa manager's wife??? It's not that she's an ex-sha manager's wife that I've got a problem with, it's just she's not got the ability to be a Villa manger's wife.
Where can we protest?

Cheers lads!
Is good to hear that about the night feeding mate........people have certainly been quick to mention the horrors of being up all night, so it's good to hear a positive about it!
Out of interest, did you fine out the sex at the 20 week scan? I want to find out (is on 18th July), but my other half doesn't....wants the surprise. I've got my practical head on thinking that it'd be far easier knowing when buying stuff before he/she is born etc.........that and I'm just bloody impatient!
-
Still feeling sick about this.
MAn I think I have lived a sheltered life or something, not having to deal with rejection/disappointment as I actually dont remember feeling this bad about something ever in my life.
Feel hurt, betrayed and disappointed. Low point!
Think positively mate - if this is the worst thing that's ever happened to you then you've been alright up until now!
Gone: Downing shows real loyalty to us

Will be quite a reception waiting for this slightly better than average player when he comes back to VP. I spent years slagging him off before he came here, thought he was peculiarly overrated whilst he was here, and now look forward to slagging off his consistently unspectacular play in years to come.
