  1. I started Ted Lasso a couple of days ago. I wasn’t expecting much and I don’t normally binge watch shows, but I’ve done 7 episodes so far.

It’s not that funny and some of the acting is dodgy AF, but there’s just something about it that makes me really enjoy it. It’s heartwarming and lovable, I’ve been genuinely surprised at how good it is.

I bought loopring at £1.80  £60 worth thinking it probably won’t work out, I thought about it when it was 97p  but thought I had enough time, I’m happy and angry at the same time

If the GameStop NFT thing gets announced, there will still be some decent upside in the short term I think. it might not go up another 500%, but you’ll get the fomo crowd coming in.

I did no research into it at all, it was literally just a play based on the rumour, but I’ve done some reading on it since and it’s not a meme coin buy any means. It could be a decent one in the long term too.

I seem to be out of step with those who've mentioned it so far but I really enjoyed Midnight Mass. Overly expositionary throughout but still good.

I wonder if my personal history with religion played a part though as I was very alive to the use of scripture to justify clearly harmful activity.

I thought it was excellent and really enjoyed it.

Hamish Linklater was superb as the priest.

  4. Looping is working out well for me, so far.

Strong rumours regarding a partnership with GameStop for a NFT marketplace.

With GS still very much in play as a meme stock, it’s gathering pace. I missed the initial explosion, but up 40% so far and I’m holding to see what happens from here.

Bitcoin up above 65k as I type this. If it can hold above that line and push from there, could be a good few weeks before Y/E.

  5. I liked Eternals.

It looks amazing and the cast was pretty decent (wasn’t sold on Angelina Jolie as Thena, but the rest were good).

It’s not a top tier MCU film, but a good entry in the latest phase.

2nd cut scene connects to one of the upcoming films I’m most excited about.

Good effort, looking forward to Hawkeye and Spider-Man rounding off ‘21.

My mate lost his son in Afghanistan and has flags on his windows windows etc, I’m not certainly going to tell him he is wrong. People show their emotions and support in different ways. Very harsh to label them all as right wing Tory whoppers. Losing your child in a war does not have a wing and is not political

Ok, fair point and although I didn’t say ‘all’, I can see the point and I mean no disrespect to those who display poppies/flags for genuine reasons.

That said, look at the latest posts in this thread. Trainers, sausages, T-Shirts, tanks on lawns etc etc. You can’t deny it’s getting hijacked by exactly the type of people I’m talking about? It seems more about how patriotic you claim to be rather than a mark of genuine respect.

It’s like the Will Self Vs Mark Francois Brexit clip. I’m not saying all people who display flags/poppies are right wing, Tory whoppers, but all the right wing, Tory whoppers, display flags and poppies. I’m not suggesting you’re Mark Francois in this scenario by the way, that would be harsh!

Speaking as a Grand Master I'm not sure I should even be acknowledging either of you. I dwell on higher VT matters beyond your current comprehension.

I’ll have you know that I used to hold the elite title of  ‘Termite Shunner’, before my demotion to a rank and file rookie!

I’m much more hopeful Mark. It always looks like the edifice will never crumble, but then it does, eventually. Brexit causing major problems, energy prices, taxes up, cost of living up, petrol queues, cronyism, corruption, double standards, covid deaths…

Like when Major’s government just fell apart in the 90s, it happens quite quickly, the tipping point.

Could go either way though IMO. Social Media can often be a bad barometer, but you don’t have to look to hard to see plenty of people who don’t think they’ve been nasty enough.

They aren’t mad because they were lied to about Brexit or the corruption or the spunking of public money on their mates, they are mad because Patel isn’t manning a gun boat in the channel and we aren’t bombing France over fishing rights.

The tentacles of the Trump-fuelled grifters have spread. I’m worried tbh.

I laughed, but it’s funny, not funny.

As in, it’s funny to see people being tragic, but it’s massively off the mark for me and demeans the whole thing.

There’s a house by me, with two massive flags in their windows and a full on, 15ft flag pole in the back garden. It’s wanky behaviour.

Meanwhile, my old neighbour, who actually lost his lad in Afghanistan, will quietly go to the local church service and pay his respects to his boy and all who fell before (and after). I go every year to pay respect in memory of both my Grandads, but I hate the whole Poppy-off culture that surrounds it now. Right-wing, Tory whopper behaviour.

  10. People who insist on displaying mahoosive Poppies and ‘Lest We Forget’ flags in their windows and the new(ish) trend of putting Poppies on everything in the name of ‘remembrance’

Another flag-shagging display of faux patriotism. It’s pathetic and disrespectful.

    Godfather of Harlem is excellent.

This x1000. Brilliant acting from the whole cast and a brilliant show. Just about to watch episode 7 of S2.

    Other recent TV land adventures…..

    Squid Game - Genius

Midnight Mass - Sue Perb, Although the final episode was a little meh, compared to the rest.

Brassic S3 - Best thing on Sky. Consistently hilarious.

Dr Death - Excellent. Joshua Jackson, Christian Slater and Alec Baldwin, all really good.

Clarksons Farm - exceeded my expectations, by some margin. Loved it.

    Click Bait - Passable

Underground Railroad - looked great, great acting, but it was a bit boring.

Y The Last Man - Decent

Only murders in the building - only a couple in, but I love it. Top stuff.

The Offenders - good first episode

Some girl in my daughters class has tested positive on one of those home kits, so she’s been sent home as well as the rest of the class. That’s her done until after the 6 weeks holidays. Bit crap for them as they had a fun last few days at school planned.

My lad got sent home early last week after ‘contact’ with a case. Was told he could return for the last two days of school, if he tested negative 24 hours before.

Routinely tested him on Friday - negative.

Tested him this morning - positive.

Now we’ve all got to isolate.

    F**k off.

Turned it off after 20 minutes of metal guitar riffs coupled with flash back scenes inspired by 80s soap operas.

Was I too harsh? I keep hearing good things about Banshee.

    Way too harsh. It’s brilliant.

Second season of Godfather of Harlem got off to a storming start - such a superb show.

Not caught the new episode yet, but season one was absolutely brilliant. Has a chance of being up there with the best, if they can keep the quality up.

  15. I watched ‘The Comeback Trail’ on Sky the other night.

I wasn’t expecting much, but I thought with De Niro, Morgan Freeman and Tommy Lee Jones, it might be passable at least.

    It wasn’t. It’s utter shite.

Does anyone have any kind of cctv system they'd recommend for keeping an eye on their dog whilst they're out? I've seen some of the newer Alexa/Echo devices seem to have a camera mounting function which might work.

If you’ve got a tablet and a phone, there’s a few apps that work well.

I used one with a previous rescue dog we had who didn’t like being left. I set my iPad up at home and it links to your phone while you are out. It comes on if they bark and sends you a notification or you can open the app whenever you want and it switches the camera on the iPad so I could see what he was up to.

‘Dog Monitor Pet Watch Cam’ was the one I think.
