  1. Good thing about last night is other players like Delph, Gabby etc have now given Lambert something to think about but most importantly the other players something to think about.

I think the success of those players last night is that Lambert gave them something to think about.

  2. Of course we have money.

Lerner is rich, he has just gained $1 billion and our wage bill is at a fairly low level.

For what ever reason, we are not prepared to spend a decent amount of money on improving an incredibly weak squad.

Lerner might be rich but the club isnt. He doesnt have to spend millions of his own money just so he can please some gobshite on the internet. The money he got from the Browns is his money not Villa's money.

The sense of entitlement among people here is amazing.

I bet you were dead against the £ sign protest to doug weren't you.

I think the pathetic acceptance is more amazing than people who want to see their team as more than just one that fights relegation.

No and I was lucky enough to see the initial discussions of that protest and see it take off.

The £ signs was a demonstration of Ellis treating the clubs money as his own and not spending it on a player. Note this because you fail to grasp it THE CLUBS MONEY.

The Club currently has NO MONEY to throw around on overpriced players such as say Sunderland are doing and we did under ONeil. Sunderland will do well the next couple of season and then stall as they cant manipulate their squad as the players they initially brought in cant be sold or go for peanuts. Their squad will just get bigger and lot os player will be sitting it out but on big wages. Sound Familar.

You are moaning constantly because Lerner is not putting his OWN MONEY on the line. He can spend his own money however he wants. Say he could give it all to the Arts if he wants because it is his own money. Villa does not have a right or entitlement to Lerner's own money.

He has already put more money into the club than any other owner before him.

I dont know how old you are but Football Clubs used to generate their own tranfer funds by buying and selling sometimes their best players.

In Villa's history the club was doomed cause they sold Gidman and Gray and bought some donkey called Withe.

Big Ron took the decision to sell Platt (At teh time one of the Worlds most wanted Players) to Italy to fund and enable him to bring in 6 odd players to revamp the squad.

Brian Little went for Les Ferdinand in his first summer after just missing relegation. We got turned down and he said he sat down and decided to use the money on several cheaper players and raise the standard across the team rather than one big name player.

Gregory was forced to Sell Yorke but we was able to go out and bring Dublin and Merson in, which improved the team more than Yorke staying.

Lerner owes Villa Nothing. It is a bonus he is still suppyling us with some money to buy players but for the club to be sustainable we need to be able to fund transfer within our own turnover not out of someones deep pocket.

  4. I keep telling myself it will work out in the end but I saw both games in league and we were dire so so bad, Adam for 4 mil is a must its in our budgegt and lets get him, if I was lamber Id ask vlaar and KEA who we should get in dutch league

You want Lambert to ask Vlaar & KEA who we should buy? WOW!

The craziest thing I have read on here for a while and there have been some ridiculous posts.

Not so Crazy as some of us old ones will remember. Bobby Robson when at Ipswich bought a dutchman Thjsen?? (Spelling all wrong) he went down a storm so he asked him are there are more like him back in the dutch league. He replied there is someone better - Arnold Muhran.

Players might be other way around and I cant spell their names but it does happen.

  5. Have people forgotten how bad we were last season.

The last third of last Season we were dreadful and pushing Wolves for being the worst team in the league. We Probably deserved to go down.

Saturday we were far far better. SO Lambert has already improved the team. Lambert has performed a huge U Turn on where we was heading.

    Give it Time

  6. Im tired to hear the bitching about the budget. It is what it is and Lambert has agreed to work within it. He is regarded as a quality manager and he actions behind the scenes suggest he is switched on in the right way. In one appointment he looks to have dragged our scouting network into this century. The last time we plucked unknown (to us) players was Gregory. Remember Mellburg and Alpay and wondering who they were?

I also think Lambert wants to shed the deadwood before he starts the rebuild and not just buy for sake of buying.

I am ready for a not so good start to the season as I think we will build into the season, a bit like DOL first season. Shoker first day of the season against Portsmouth, in fact upto crimbo cellar dwellers and we finish the season in 6th.

Lambert is no fool and would not put his reputation on the line signing for a club that could buy the players he needs.

  7. Nice interview from the man in question. Seems a smart and likable sort of bloke.

But let's face it: Head of European Scouting for Aston Villa? It's like being head of the Bolivian navy.

He's probably lighting cigars and chuckling to himself as he recites his job title under his breath.

He is old enough to remember that some time in the early 80s we beat Bayern Munich to win a certain cup.

  8. :/ I dont like this.

Ive also been told (From a very reliable source :D ) that theyre also playing one touch-ish football... as in DONT go ahead and dribble. The passing game could be employed.

i can understand why you might not be keen on this, From what i've seen of your lad, he's a tricky wide player, but i wouldn't worry about Lamberts playing style affecting his progression.

I mean look at N'Zogbia, if he can start to be effective in this system, then Jack will have no trouble.

Do you mean my brother ;) yeah he does like to keep the ball. No one touch stuff.

Well it is always good to develop further sides to your game.

  9. Regarding Guidetti. From what I (and swedish media) gather, he is injured and knoe one knows when he is able to play again.... Its has something to do with some nerve somewhere in his body. Thats way he wasnt picked for the Swedish national team against Brazil.

When Did he get this Injury?

Im sure I read somewhere that he had a virus from the end of last season that he hasnt shaken off.

  10. A lot of people seemingly think this guy is turd. Can't remember seeing him play much but he's a converted (/failed) winger and is supposedly quite dodgy at the back. Surely a better option than Warnock or Stevens though.

Hmm converted winger - Im going into a hazy dream remembering Kenny Swain.

Bought from Chelsea as a Winger and turned into a fine Defender by Ron Saunders.

  11. So I take it all those perfectly happy with little investment were perfectly happy when doug was in charge and never once held up a pound sign or wanted him to sell the club?

Totally different. You are demanding that Lerner spends 30 million of his own money, the pound sign demonstration was due to the Fact that Elllis treated the Clubs money as his own and wouldnt spend it.
