Price is too low compared to other clubs. A slow improvement will be better in the long run.
I would give free seats to schools

If he did go for 8m it would surely highlight to fans how much the transfer market has moved on and how we don't generate enough revenue to sign ready made PL players of vlaar standard
-
I try not to let this thread wind me up but I feel some people are missing the point of the more 'pro-Lambert' argument. It's fine to disagree with it or not place the same importance on some mitigating circumstances but some just seem to completely miss the point in the argument for Lambert.
No-one is saying he's marvelous, no-one is saying they are happy with either the squad, the playing style or the results. What they are saying is the bulk of the blame is not Lambert's but Lerner's. I hate our style, a number of players are substandard and it is a horrible time to be a fan.
People are saying we 'should' be able to compete with the likes of West Ham and Sunderland etc, why? Last season we did which is a credit to Lambert as he spent less than them. This season they all strengthened. Someone mentioned "we're as bad as Burnley, Leicester, Palace and QPR" - we SHOULD be! Only one of them has invested less than us! What gives us a divine right to be higher than these teams? They invested in their squad, we didn't. Yet we're still in there fighting. Based on CURRENT transfers and wages (i.e. not those inherited from MON or McLeish) our top signing is £4.5m Sanchez! We operate as a small team trying to survive. So, whilst very very unhappy about it, Lambert is succeeding in keeping us up. Is that good enough? Clearly not, but Lambert can't do anything about it, only Lerner can.
Please name any other team that has both played better and finished higher than us in recent years who has invested the same amount we have. Wigan played better and got relegated, others spent.
And for the record, of those teams we should 'compete' with as a divine right (anyone outside last years top 6) we have only lost to QPR this season.

Wasn't much to go with to be fair to him bobzy I would have gone for Greilish personally.
-
Not yet he needs a bit more game time after being out so long.
He did very well tonight though.- 1

No idea on the contract but I would also take it if it were true. I'd guess his wages were circa 50-60k but that's par for the course
-
I agree with the last post neither player will move in jan unless the new club pays them what they could get in the summer it will be retarded
-
Vlaar is replaceable spend 5 or 8m well.
The issue is with the wages we pay it would be far harder to replace Delph like for like and way more expensive and that's without even thinking of buying cleverly.
If I had choice I'd let vlaar go and keep Delph any day of the week

It's one thing a player who isn't great coming in and doing well it's another doing that as a straight replacement
-
The are other players to worry about before weimann

Nah when he came in we all thought It was okore and vlaar as the first choice this is differentTbf there was this kind of reaction when linked to Senderos and he's been decent.
If it is true I'm willing to give him a chance, got to be better than Clark.
-
When you are replacing your best centre back you have to buy quality and he isn't quality.
The position is too key to gamble
-
Yea Olson is crap I wouldn't want him as a first team replacement
-
Guzan is say
-
I think we can safely say both are off otherwise they would have signed.
It's a shame we didn't sign them a year ago we probably would have had something like 30m for the both of them
-
There is of course a contact extension for both these players. THEY have decided not to sign this far and I doubt they will change their minds.
Delph is easily the bigger loss of the two.

It's very interesting this okore stuff I wonder why he hasn't been playing too as the other 3 first choices have all been injured at some point.
The lad seemed to be quality so I assume it is injury related
-
Easily top half
-
What I do know is if we had 11 players on the pitch of guzans quality and character on the pitch we wouldn't be in trouble

Just had a quick search on my phone can't see it right away but I'm sure the article was for PL players who played more than 20 games last season
-
Seen an article a week or two ago stating 3m
-
I don't doubt they have built up their frustration over his tenure but I do know they don't take into account fully the finances behind it
-
Cleverly ain't the player we need to spend 8m on that's for sure
-
Yes that is correct with wages vs position I have said it just in the last week.
Ref wages I don't know our total figure off the top of my head I do know the average player now earns 3m a year so 60k roughly and we don't have many near that.

All that today showed is two things.
1. There is still a good player in there
2. We can perform much better with different options on creativity
