  1. Well BJ/Trent lets go macro economics...... yea lets not.

Fact of the matter is he is about 100m down, he hasn't taken money out of the club and he certainly wont make that money back in the next year therefore he hasn't made money out of the club/isn't trying to make money out of the club whichever way you want to spin it.

What I said before in the last post is correct and based off the accounts.

Simple, I don't go back on a word of it, even if Trent disagrees.

  2. Geez I see bollocks in here he has never pocketed money and we have been a loss making club under him the whole time till now there is 20 to 25 million free in next years budget for players/wages without him losing money

  3. I know it is so unlikely but if we could snatch just 3 or 4 players of the calibre that has been linked then I think we'd be ok next season.

    A matchday squad of....

    Guzan

    Lowton Vlaar Okore Lescott

    Holtby Delph Rodwell

    Milner Benteke Agbonlahor....

Steer, Baker, Bacuna, Westwood, Gardner, Weimann, Kozak....

Maybe it's just me but I think that side would have enough to give most teams a game and certainly make it to 40+ points without the dicing with death of the past couple of years. I know those names mentioned seem pipe-dream talk just at the moment but I genuinely think we could become a decent side again with just 3 or 4 real top additions. There's just so much negativity around at the moment no one can envisage it.

Milner holtby Rodwell and lescott good luck with that

  4. Having Barry back would be reason enough for me to renew.

But there's not much chance it will happen.

I'd worry about Barry as someone will offer him a 3 year deal and he isn't blessed with pace at all which is only going to get worse

  5. So apparently there is a contract ban as such, meaning no extensions or renewals will be happening.

Off the top of my head that means we will lose Callum Robinson and Marc Albrighton this summer for free, whilst Ron Vlaar, Fabian Delph, Gabby Agbonlahor and Jack Grealish will all be going into their last year of contract with nothing new on the table.

    Very, very risky.

That's not even true we have offer 4 deals already

  6. Vlaar and Lescott would be great with Okore and Clark for backup. Loan Baker out for a season to the Championship.

This for me is where the problem lies in signing Lescott. The last thing he would want again is to sit on the bench with Okore hopefully raring to go at the start of next season and before signing for anyone Lescott would be looking for guaranteed playing time.

I agree that Lescott would be part of a good partnership with Vlaar but you would have to leave Okore on the bench and I don't think he or Lescott will settle for that.

The only way it would work is playing all three and I'm not sure that is the best way forward?

Errr? Injury, form, back up these are all reasons to have 3 good players for two posirions

  7. Someone else mentioned Caulker I also responded to him.

No 55k a week isn't excessive for a proven quality premiership player in 2014.

He wont go for 10M. Although he will probably goto Liverpool.*

Lescott is not the player he was a few years ago.

He's lost none of his attributes he has just been replaced at one of the top clubs in world football.

If he isn't good enough for villa your expectations for us are to high

Don't get me wrong. He would walk into our club. I just don't want another 30+ player on high wages who loses form after 1 season and we end up having another Dunne on our hands. All that wont matter if we bring in a new owner. I don't think one will be in place before the season though.

By your rational that would only become a problem in 12 months time which we should have a new owner beforehand

  9. If I were Lerner I wouldn't have sold until next summer.

I would have spent the same on fewer players got a mid table finish, got rid of a couple more of the bomb squad either this season or next summer when some are out of contract.

This would make us more saleable, cost him nothing personally as the books are balanced, allowed buyers to see all the strings that are pulling the FFP rules and see how the other clubs spend this new TV deals money and therefore what it is likely we would need to compete.

That's all I have to say on Lerner now as it is all academic he will go sooner or later and a new era will start good or bad.

  10. Yes I would like Marc to stay but 35k for someone we had to loan out earlier this season as he was so crap IS over the top I'd much rather the extra cash go on keeping Delph for example of affording a better wage for an experienced pro to lend a stabilising influence to the team on the pitch.

  11. Caulker you might be looking at 10m for him and the same wages as Lescott.

As for sell on value you don't need one when you aren't paying an excessive wage for a free which in the case of Lescott we wouldn't be according to reported figures.

  12. No fresh deals means a buyer is close IMO.

I don't think it means anything other than the club's for sale and Lerner/Faulkner don't want to extend committments to players the new owners may not want to keep in the long run. They're still under contract so no extension is needed to keep them into next season and they've all professed a committment to Villa in the recent past and won't be expected to try to force a move.

I agree we have until October or so to tie people down in good time a lot could happen in that period it's best to wait although I would tie Delph now that's a no brainer

  13. A three year, £55k per week contract for Lescott?

Bloody hell! It's as if the MON era never happened...

This is a player they paid over 20m for. Yes it was over the top but he is a free and will give us solidity at the back for the price of about 8m over 3 years even if we brought a kid for 3m on 20k a week that's still 6m and if he turns out to be good he will want more money and if he doesn't that's a bigger waste of money. It's a no lose IMO and we need a few seasoned pros in key positions
