  1. I always thought the badge was a Nike thing.

Arsenal simplified their badge under Nike. We simplified our badge under Nike and Everton kicked up a fuss not so long ago because they changed their badge once their kit started getting made by... Nike.

I'd like to see it changed at some point. The current one is really crap to be honest. But I can understand a reluctance due to costs.

I don't really blame Lerner for this though. I think changing the badge wasn't a terrible idea at the time. They just chose the new design in an awful way. They basically just asked for opinions on elements of the badge from the fans, then chucked it all together and whatever came out they went with.

    Shield shape, check.

    Lion, check.

    Star, check.

    Words, check.

    Print and DONE

It's as if nobody actually stood back and thought "does this actually look good?"

Its all to do with Americanisation in my opinion... again as similar to above part of my independent study looked at this and how potentially Lerner exploited it for his own sake. The badge is basic and bland, but if you look at a lot of branding thats what it is, like the Red Sox and Yankees badges.

  2. If Tom Fox really wants to use our history as a selling point for this club, then something he should seriously consider is going back to this badge...

I'm sure the majority of villa fans would welcome it too.

You say that. As part of my independent study (submitted only 2 days ago)... only 1 Villa fan out of 10 interviewed said they would want this one back! I would love to have this one back.

  3. Bit late to the party. However... I'm 23 years old, 96 final was my first sporting memory and I was so bloody chuffed when we won that. However I was there on Sunday and I don't think I've ever felt happier or more jubilant watching something. That was genuinely the happiest I've been watching Villa so I can only imagine how I'd be like if we did the impossible and won the whole bloody thing. There has been an air about the cup 'maybe it's our year ' ever since the 3rd round. Fortuitous late goal and good save against shit opposition in Blackpool. Then a slightly less expected win over in form Bournemouth. Then a revenge win over Leicester. Then the big week where we kickstarted our season with the double win over the Baggies. Then this. We'll probably lose to Arsenal. But I'll be there again cheering on the team hoping against hope. We've ruined Stevie G's party, now let's soil Arsene's trophy stroll as their fans think. And I'd love it, love it if we beat them. Put to rest a few ghosts and mouthy neighbours

    Up the **** Villa

Close to a week on and I still feel this way. I'm 21 and went to neither of the ones in the 90's. Never felt happier as a Villa fan. Close to being the happiest day of my life I swear, bloody love Villa for some reason!

  4.

What's the best tube station to park at when coming down the m40?

Hillingdon is where I'm going. West Ruislip is another that is commonly used I think. Hope that helps!

    Thanks

There is quite a bit of road parking at Hillingdon too. I'm not sure if car parking at a station / stop is free on a Sunday either.

  5. I changed knowing the Green Man was Villa only. Load of us are planning to meet there. Apparently do a big BBQ and have music on etc so lets hope for the weather !

  6. Come home to a Royal Mail sorry we missed you card, the only thing I'm waiting for is my tickets.

I ordered my tickets on Wednesday.

These will be your tickets !!

  7. The same right-back who had a stormer against Chelsea last season and marked Hazard out the game I think? And the same right-back who was immense away at Sunderland a few weeks back. He's a utility player, but writing him off as a right-back shouldn't be done. He didn't sign as a right back, definitely still learning the position. Just wish he'd pass to a Villa player a bit more accurately at times!

  8. Tottenham's defence is a shambles. So I can see us scoring a few goals. Will we be able to keep Harry Kane quiet? Well that's huge ask. If Richardson plays we will lose.

    ... daft

  9. I think you just confirmed he is better equipped than Sanchez:

    "quick feet in tight situations"

    "pace"

    "power"

    "tackling"

Clark will never be a midfielder, he is a stopper/hoof merchant/long ball merchant. He can't mop up and play the ball 5 yards

Better equipped for his own position at centre half. Michael Carrick is a prime example, dominated the game against us. He broke it up where he needed to, played simple passes and stayed at the base of the midfield to protect the back 4 for counters. Sanchez at least looks calm technically on the ball but his decision making is woeful. And thus, when having less time on the ball I think Okore will struggle. Its the brain as well as the physicality !

  10. Would anyone on here be adverse to trying Okore in the role that Sanchez played tonight?

I think Okore has all the attributes to play there as well as having better vision, more pace, better passing ability, more presence and more of a danger at dead ball situations.

I personally wouldn't gamble playing him there in a relegation run in but with the benefit of hindsight, I would have tonight.

He was unlucky to have been dropped but he's played a lot of games and is still very young for a central defender.

I would love to see him have a run in front of the defence.

If your pushing a defender up, it would probably be Clark who moves to defensive mid. Okore looks too clumsy on the ball in my opinion. Sometimes he shows quick feet in tight situations but its a different kettle of fish being the holding player in midfield. His best attributes are pace, power and tackling. A weaker one is probably quick decision making on the ball, which Sanchez is far too slow at!
