  1. I followed her because of this, and tonight she tweeted at 21:35 saying well done girls its 2-0, then realised she was watching highlights of a previous match before the ladies kicked off at 10!

  2. I'm not a huge fan of attacking full backs. His primary job should be to defend (which he does well IMO) not to get forward to whip crosses into the box (isn't that's what wingers are for?). He'd be perfect in a 4-4-2. Tim obviously isn't going to play that way so he's automatically surplus to requirements. Shame.

    Get with the times!

  3.

N'zonzi would bring presence to our midfield, something we've been crying out for for years. Our central midfield players have all relatively been small-medium height in in recent years. Correct me if I am wrong! I watched Loftus-Cheek for the U21's last night, changed the game just because of his physical presence and pace with and without the ball.

based on the mourinho comments im not sure he's ready at the moment tbh, dont think he has any issue with talent just a questionable mentality

if chelsea got shot of him then it would be because he's a bad egg

how was chalobah for the U21s?

BY far along with Liam Moore our worst player last night. Chalobah gave the ball away in ridiculous areas, forced passes, and played the hollywood to their keeper brilliant. Really really got on my nerves Chalobah last night. Loftus-Cheek actually played inter-changing one-twos around the box unlike any of the other central midfielders! Changed the game when he came on.

  5. Twitter alert

    The Holte ‏@TheHolteTweets  3h

Ludogorets Razgrad want Tonev for cheap. Think @StanPetrov19 should subsidise the wages, was your idea mate! #AVFC

    AVFC Transfer Tweet ‏@AVFCTransTweet  17m

@StanPetrov19 what happened with him at the villa then mate? Pace? League challenge?

    Stiliyan Petrov ‏@StanPetrov19  17m

@AVFCTransTweet bad management I would say.

He also agreed that Tonev shot from ridiculous angles. And he also agreed that he disliked the style of football.

According to this article, Ron Vlaar has been released.

It doesn't say that at all

I think you'll find that it does:

    FULL LIST OF RELEASED PLAYERS

    ...

    Aston Villa

    Darren Bent

    Graham Burke

    Alfie Crooks

    Christopher Herd

    Craig Hill

    Bradley Lewis

    Isaac Nehemie

    Daniel O’Brien

    Enda Stevens

    Thomas Strain

    Ron Vlaar

    Courtney Wildin

Our Ron never was far away from a strain

I herd he turned out to be a right burke aswell

  7. The thing with Huddlestone, it will probably ONLY work if he is the sitting midfielder, and he has a Delph and a Cleverley esque "runner" next to him pressing high. For years we have not been able to keep the ball effectively well unless it was dull around the back... he could be that player that helps us keep it better in forward areas. He has a good ping on him, maybe a slight upgrade on Westwood, which is hard for me to say as I am a big fan of Westy!

  8. I give up. Who shall we sign, Varane? Pique? ... the guy is on a free, 26, pacey, powerful, and lacks some positional sense. Your telling me he is worse than, if not better than any of our centre backs / right backs? So negative. We are a club in limbo and just signed someone who is English, supposedly to be in the prime of his career, for free. Cheer up!

  9.

I tweeted something along these lines.

These Belgian strikers aren't as good as they think they are, are they Mr Benteke and Mr Lukaku? Champions league my arse.

On song he's utterly brilliant. But he's not on song enough to be someone who plays for a big big club (based on the past few performances!). Consistency seems to be his problem, he's either utterly brilliant or non-existent, nothing in between.

Yes, he can be so endearing...or so frustrating. His goals haved saved us I cannot deny, but the big money splashed around - if we could get that for him it would be good funds to plug so many other holes.

To us a general improvement on the whole squad would be a better deal. He's like that luxury player who isn't even luxurious 50% of the time.

Spot on mate. And I'm not always have the service wasn't there. There were some instances tonight where he wasn't quick enough, or was on his heels. Costa, Rooney, Sturridge... these strikers all create their own chances, and this seems the sort of big fish Benteke wants to be with. He does occasionally (like United at home), but if he doesn't score its always the service which is an excuse.

  11. So other than the papers, few twitter guys and some people saying "I'm happy with this signing" (or not happy)...the signing hasn't even happened yet.

    Nothing official anywhere.

As stated by others, normally when Colley speaks up its pretty much on the money. Isn't Richards still on holiday?

  12.

he actually offered me to shadow him for a day when I thought about becoming a journalist and he gave me a call

Did you end up doing it? That'd have been a pretty interesting experience I reckon. I've never been privy to the sports side of this game, but I'd love to get involved with it even slightly

I didn't in the end! I was in my 2nd year at uni but took a couple of journalism modules as I was interested in it, but it wasn't the avenue I decided to go down. I think it would have taken a while to sort out too as I would have had to have got insured or something along those lines. I get an odd tip off on a few things through his friend which is good sometimes, I think some people would be surprised in to how quickly things can change in terms of a transfer and contact etc.

  13. Even though he's Sky, I trust Colley.  He doesn't shoot his mouth off and tends to post as a fan rather than as a journo.

I vaguely know Pete through a friend and big Villa fan, and he actually offered me to shadow him for a day when I thought about becoming a journalist and he gave me a call. Big Villa fan, and a good bloke.

I think Richards is a good signing for us. Still wants to prove himself. Would be great if we could get Trippier too.

  14. They'll keep Sherwood for a season and then get Klopp when his sabbatical ends this time next year. That's when they'll really ramp up the spending.

This is what makes me read and post in VT. The humerous optimism is brilliant! I heard Reus would only follow wherever Klopp went... these bidders better have a few bob.

  15.

Last season he made 20 appearances in the league, 1 off the bench.

He made 32 the season before.

    27 in his first season.

Out of the 114 PL matches in the past 3 seasons Ron has played 79 (missed 35). Combined thats almost an entire season. For someone that on our books and minds is a KEY player for us, who actually isn't brilliant and replaceable (unlike Benteke), should go! We need better for a key player. I know Benteke missed copious amounts of football but its slightly different with him, the guy is world class and shows he is a key player when back to fitness. Ron doesn't for me.

So based on that, we would be lucky to get 2 seasons out of him if we offered him a 3 year deal.

He aint getting any younger or quicker and his recovery time will also be slower.

It used to take my Nan ages to wipe her own arse!

Correct! 2 seasons out of 3 if he got a new deal... and with his injury record the way it is that would reduce to 1 and a half seasons of a 3 year contract. Not worth it at all.
