  1. We need everything to centre around this man. When he picks up the ball, there needs to be 3/4 different options straight away. Problem is with him like Cole, they get the ball look up and its as static as anything!

He's a solid defender.  We shouldn't be relying on him to provide the wide crosses we need.

A big reason our defence is so much better this year.

Agree with this. Expecting him and Hutton to provide crosses into the box is just stupid. We need our midfielders to provide width. not the full backs.

You don't expect our full backs to provide crosses or provide width? Lets go home.

    Cresswell and Jenkinson

    Baines and Coleman

    Luis (when plays) and Ivanovic

Even Alan Wright and Mark Delaney!!

The above all provide crosses. Let alone providing width, look at Clichy for example, he rarely crosses but always provides width!

Of course they can provide crosses but they shouldn't be the main outlet.

I agree. In all fairness they need a winger to overlap with, but again its just done too slow to which they run down blind alleys towards the corner flag !

The above all provide crosses. Let alone providing width, look at Clichy for example, he rarely crosses but always provides width! Both with Cissoko and Hutton, they are too slow when we get the ball to get wide quickly. Like everything else on the pitch, it's just far too slow!

  4. Is it me, or is it every time he goes to have a shot he looks to sh*t himself? Never puts anything on the shot, more like "hoping" it'll get to the goal!

  5. He is a solid defensive player who is being made to look bad by the role he is being asked to play. It doesn't help that when he gets given the ball high up the pitch he is often completely isolated.

Well I'll compare that to when he had Grealish in front of him against Blackpool. People said Grealish had a bad game against Blackpool, one of the main reasons he didn't have a good game was because Cissokho didn't release the ball quick enough and took about 2/3 extra touches which slowed everything down !

Even defensively yesterday he was shocking.

  6. Normally its a cliche that managers look out of their depth, and its a common term thrown about with no rationale.... but this is the definition of Paul Lambert. He's tried changing the style and system of our play and it hasn't worked. He literally has no idea what to do next. I am pretty certain he's lost the dressing room, he's definitely lost 95% of the fans. Time to go, I really hope he is gone by Monday!

  7. Villa fans arguing with each other at half time by me... to which about 3 rows of people started getting involved wanting a fight with each other. Saw a few bits and pieces at the front of Villa fans again kicking off at each other.

I am sick of following us away from home. I've seen us score once away at Stoke. Swansea, Albion, today, Everton, West Ham... not one f ing goal from us. Sick of it.

  8. Senderos and Richardson were also peanuts in positions where we needed more players.

I agree with the valuation point... but we need another central midfielder, KEA is shocking and clearly wants to move back to Holland. Gardner has just been loaned out. But you haven't taken the point I said, about a player who has such negative press and opinions and proves people wrong. Senderos is or was fully known to be rubbish and in the first 3 games of the season he has heavily impressed for me. As stated, players can play well at other clubs!

  9. Some of the over reactions on here are a joke. I'm sure Senderos and Richardson received similar criticisms when they signed but have turned out to be useful additions. Give the guy a bloody chance its totally plausible a player can be better at another club.

I hope Vlaar isn't included in a deal here.

No way, if Vlaar was part of the deal no way would we be paying £8m. They should be paying us and throwing Cleverly in.

Might not be a direct deal - but it may be more of an agreement that they'll reject other club's bids and accept ours in return for a separate agreement for Vlaar.

I really hope not - but if Villa and Hull made similar bids, why are the reports only saying that Villa's bid accepted?

It may be that ours was just higher than Hull's.. but it does concern me.

Also - Martinez loves Cleverley remember - with Barkley out for several more weeks I wouldn't be surprised to see Everton join the party..

Doubt Everton have much left in their budget now.

If he is distinctively average for United (even under Fergie) then hes an improvement on our squad. Would get in our first team. Can't see a problem with the transfer as in the player at all, but 8M is slightly steep.

  11. I could only see us getting Young in on loan. If money is as tight as is being reported then why spend most of it on player who will fill a position where we are well covered?

I know Young is a winger but if he were to sign for us I'd imagine he would play as part of a three man attack. We already have Weimann, Agbonlahor, N'zogbia and Cole plus Robinson and Grealish who can play that position.

Quality > Quantity... Weimann needs to be through the middle to be at all effetive. Gabby just isn't at the races anymore sadly.

  12.

My girlfriends Dad is a baggies fan... When I texted him about Amalfitano being linked with us his response ...

Super talent but lazy and not one for a fight. I'd have him back mind.

So he'll fit right in here.

Isn't that the opposite of most villa players? I would say they pretty much all fight and give 100% on the pitch, but they lack talent.

Nope. Weimann didnt show half the "fight" he showed in his first season under Lambert, yet I believe has alot of talent. Gabby looked disinterested and he's a talent on form.

This will be a pointless signing unless we play him behind the striker and given a sort of free roam. Restrict him out wide on defensive duties, can't see the point, especially at 32. Sensible signing, fills a position we need and is better than some of the current crop.

    Sitting on the fence then.

In a sense. If we've signed him as an attacking midfielder then great, its a position we've needed under Lambert. He's tricky and clever on the ball.

Sign him as a wide forward who is required to burst forward at pace and "asked" to work back like Weimann, Gabby and Albrighton did last season (when they were arsed) then it wont utilise his talent. I expect to see Cole behind the striker and Nzog, Gabby, Tonev and Weimann as the wide players.

  15. £500K for 45 minutes of football.

    That is Balaban territory.

Well it was more than 45 against Hull.. and when he played against Stoke and West Ham the previous season he didn't let anyone down. Squad filler.
