  1. Carlton Cole is a great striker and would work well with Gabby

He's improved a lot since his spell at Villa.

Look at the amount of goals he's scored for West Ham in the limited number of games he's played and it's not like West Ham have as good service as Villa do

  2. neil Warnock has really pissed me off

He calls the linesman a disgrace for flagging for a Villa corner and the speed of which the incident happened I didn't see it and even on the slow motion replay it would be still hard to make it out.

Yet Warnock completely ignores the fact that Palace should have gone down to 10 men, Delph was incorrectly flagged offside when he was a good 2 yards onside and he was clean through on goal and the lino flagged offside on Delfouneso when he was about 20 yards onside!!!!

I normally like him but he talks so much rubbish it gets boring!

  3. If he doesn't pick his form up till the end of the season then we should sell both Carew and Heskey IMO

    Get Carlton Cole in!

Actually, we should sell Heskey and if not Heskey, then sell Carew and get Carlton Cole in.

    Our forwards would then be...

Cole, Agbonlahor, Carew and Delfouneso with Weimann coming through the ranks

That would be good enough for me

  4. Just got back from Selhurst Park, escaped to the safety of South West London!

That was a cracking game, a proper cup tie, and it was little to do with all the tactical/formation stuff that people have been posting about. It was all about emotion. Palace got on a roll, the crowd got behind them and it was a real test of Villa's character. I thought we had lost it in the first part of the second half, particularly when the defence (and Carew) started arguing amongst themselves. But the onslaught on the Palace goal in the last fifteen minutes was tremendous and the equaliser was the bare minimum we deserved.

So, well done, boys, you passed the bottle test. I think the atmosphere and the progress of the replay will be very different.

    A few thoughts on performances.

We really missed Gabby's pace. When he doesn't play, you remember how much we rely on him. Heskey seemed to get injured in about the 2nd minute and we were slow and blunt up front from then on.

Cracking performances from Petrov and Delph, although the latter went and spoiled it again by losing his head & getting booked. I hope this isn't going to be a major problem in his career.

Carew looks to be getting back to some sort of sharpness so that is good news.

I had a birds eye view of the A Young penalty claim and I couldn't see from where I sat why it wasn't given.

You say Delph spoilt it by getting a yellow but you musn't have saw it properly.

I saw it on TV and Delph kicked the ball out for a throw in and didn't even touch the Crystal palace player and then the Palace player started rolling around. You could tell it wasn't a foul, especially when you could see Delph's face, he was thinking like 'WTF?'

  5. Take a point.

I'd go 4-5-1 with Delph in the middle as Heskey will just be carrying a knock and Carew is not very good.

going with 5 united mates in the upper holte. Ugh.

I hope there's going to be a nice moment when both sets of fans are singing "We're going to Wem-ber-ley, ka sera, sera"

How can you socialise with Brummie United fans?

All of them are clueless about football

I think it's disgusting that there's so many gloryhunting people in Birmingham. It's a DISGRACE!

As for the game I think it will be 0-0 or 1-0 to Manchester United

  6. To be fair I think Spurs defence is quite good and is nowhere near as bad as some Villa fans are making out

Corluka is a good right back who I've seen mark Ashley Young out of the game before, although other times he's been shocking against Young

Dawson gives away a lot of silly fouls. Concedes free kicks when he doesn't need to but is normally a good defender.

The one thing I agree with people on here is that Bale is a really bad defender. He's a great player but should not be a left back, more like a left winger or he could play as a LWB in a 5-3-2 formation

Oh and we need to watch out for Bentley, the amount of dives he commited today against Leeds was frustrating

I'd be happy with a draw from this game

  7. I'd lvoe for the Leeds players to injure Defoe and Crouch!

    Oh and Modric

    That would be good

We should really have an edge over Tottenham as they will have an FA Cup game just 3 days before the game.

let's hope it goes to extra time and there are a lot of injuries to Spuds players

And Redknapp falls on the floor and hurts himself. just for good measure

  8. Tottenham aren't in the best form and they're missing Lennon

Despite Defoe scoring yesterday, he hasn't been playing that greatly recently as well.

Watch out for Modric and Defoe.

Also, we've got a full week's rest for this game whereas Spurs have got to play Leeds in the FA Cup on Wednesday and they're probably going to play a full strength team and hopefully that game goes to extra time

  9. I thought Heskey played quite well to be honest

Luke Young was brilliant as was Dunne and Gabby

Milner wasn't as good as he normally is but he still played well

Ashley looks like he's starting to get back into some form

The only things I was a bit concerned about was the way we let Fulham back into the game and Friedel looked slightly dodgy today. Oh and I think Downing needs to step up his game in the next few matches as what we have saw of him so far, is not up to his usual standards IMO

I think Downing can play a lot better than he is now, he doesn't seem to have the confidence to really take a player on or to have a shot at goal when there is a chance for him

  10. I'm really worried about set pieces

Blackburn are really good at scoring from corners.

They rested Dunn for this match so we need to watch out for him

I'd like to see us play 4-5-1 with Milner just behind the striker.

    We should play......

    Guzan

    Cuellar-Collins-Dunne-Warnock

    Downing-Sidwell-Petrov-Young

    Milner

    Gabby

I can see Sidders stepping up his game for this one and imagine Gabby holding the ball up to then lay off Milner for shot from outside the box just like Heskey did except Heskey overhit his pass.

This leaves Carew and Heskey to come in if there is any needed firepower up front

We should play the three CB's for the height to defend set pieces.

  11. According to the BBC weather forecast looks like sunny spells from Thursday onwards.

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/weather/forecast/3071?count=10&area=Wigan.

Hopefully the game will be on, Milner and Delph will be fully fit and we can get three vital points!

I'm not sure that would help as the maximum temperatures are only 1 degrees celcius so the snow in Wigan wouldn't help

I really hope it's on but I doubt the snow will have cleared enough
