  1. Here's how I see the squad so far.

Really glad we signed Traore as we didn't have a proper winger who gets to the byline in the squad at all before today.

I'd be surprised if we were in for Keita as it looks like he plays as a left sided forward and we've already got Sinclair and Gabby who can play there (Grealish as well if necessary).

Would love another CB but we've already got Richards and Okore who play right sided and Clark and Baker for left side plus Crespo as cover so not sure if it's that much of a necessity.

Think we could do with another central midfielder as we've only got 4 first teamers in Sanchez, Westwood, Gueye and Veretout and we often play with 3 in there. Tom Carroll as a back up makes sense.

Don't need a number 10 as we have Gill, Grealish and Cole who can play there.

Anothee Striker would be nice as only have Gabby, Ayew and Gestede, none of which are proven goal scorers at Premier league level yet.

Either way, squad is shaping up nicely

    Kozak?

I totally forgot about him. Too much going on at the moment, I'm struggling to keep up

  3. Only saw seen Abdennour play once before against Arsenal in the CL last year and he was absolutely mint. Proper defender who was strong, quick, left footed, read the game well and could play a bit too. Sadly, I can't see anything in this one and most of the big guns are looking at him but would be an amazing signing if we could pull it off, would be the biggest coup out of all the summer signings if we could get him IMO and that's saying a lot

  4. The problem with the buy back clause isn't that barca might want him back, it's that he they can just make an easy profit from bringing him back and selling him on at a profit. It's slightly better than a loan, but not much.

Case in point. Alderweireld this season. There was a fixed price for him going to Southampton after the loan, but he had such a good season and was worth so much more than that price that Atletico said no, we'll take him back, give you a few quid compensation for breaking our word and flog him to Spurs for a fortune. Contract broken, sod all comeback for Southampton and not even sure if they got any money from the u-turn. The conditions would be slightly different but the result is exactly the same. The only thing that has to happen is that he be worth more on the market than his buyback clause, then Barca can just recall him and make the additional cash themselves. Absolutely mental.

Southampton originally took him on a loan though whereas we would be buying him. I've no idea if a buy back clause will be in the contract but it's a slightly different set of circumstances

  5. Don't need him.

We already have Gabby, Ayew, Grealish, Sinclair & Gil who can play wide / forward. I suppose it gives us options for playing 442, but still not a priority for me.

We need a genuine winger. Grealish and Gil are suited to wider roles only in a narrow set-up. Ayew had the only half-decent season of his career playing as a forward. Sinclair is a decent goalscorer but doesn't create much and Gabby is crap.

Yesterday we played a 4-5-1 for the most part I thought - the wide players doubling with the full-backs in the defensive phases.

I agree, we have players who can play wide but we don't have anyone that is a typical "get to the byline and cross it" type winger. Not saying we should play with that type of player every game but would certainly like that option in the squad.

Someone like Montero would be nice!

  6. Interesting article on Lennon's upturn in form towards the end of the season.

    http://www.whoscored.com/Articles/ieez_lhiguuripkulilbgq/Show/Player-Focus-Rejuvenated-Lennon-Returning-to-The-Fore-with-Everton

Seems like he didn't like playing on the left for Spurs and after a slowish start at Everton, started hitting some form. We are clearly looking for a speedy right sided player as Bacuna is currently our only real option there so if the fee is £5m as reported, it could be a really clever signing

  7. Just watching Ajax getting knocked out of the CL already....they have a bloke upfront who can barely control the ball and indeed fell over trying to kick it.

Was wondering who it was until the camera panned in on the back of his shirt.....Sanogo.

Seriously how did that guy play for Arsenal, he is useless.

Forgot to put him on my list as well, absolute joker. Doesn't appear to have any co-ordination between his body and his legs at all. He and plays like he's a competition winner rather than a proper footballer

  8. ---------------Guzan----------------

    Hutton---Richards-----Clark-----Amavi

    Gueye----Westwood ----Veretout

    ------Ayew-------------Sinclair-----

    ---------------Gestede--------------

    Great minds.
Thirded. Pretty good side for Grealish, Gil to fight their way back in to with I imagine another couple of signings on the horizon.

Fourthded, which I am aware isn't a word. Based on who's fit at present that would be my team for Bournemouth although it wouldn't surprise me to see Gabby in for Gestede.

  9. Just throwing this out there but what about Leroy Fer? I know his last 2 moves haven't gone too well in terms of his choice of clubs but he gets goals from midfield and is ranked in the top best 30 players in the league for last season according to whoscored

  10. I think our total spend will be between £30-40m, even with the sales of our 2 best players, the other minor sales and the amount of wages shifted off the books. Not saying I'm happy with it but that's what I think will happen. Just can't see us spending £60m even with the sales we've made
