  1. Joey, you forget that Milner has been playing central midfield for less than half a season and yet is still joint 3rd with Lennon and Giggs on assists ( 8 ) as well as chipping in with 8 goals in all competitions this season.

He didnt play well last Saturday ( only the defence did ) but I do think when he learns the role better, he will turn into a very good allround central midfield player.

But I'd argue that he can get the goals and assists from playing wide. You don't seem to gain anything from having him in the middle that you'd not have with him in a wide postion. I suspect he actually gets more of his goals and assists when playing wide. Personally I think you have 3 quality wide players and thus have the strength in depth you need in those positons. But I'd still want MON to bring in 2 quality CMs in the summer.

    Assists central midfield:

    Sunderland.

    Blackburn

    Blackburn

    Portsmouth

    Hull City

    Brighton

    Goals Central midfield:

    Sunderland

    Blackburn

    Blackburn

    Portsmouth

    Hull City.

So most of his goals/assists came centrally.

Yep, was just gonna post that.

I personally think he's better at picking a good pass through the middle than crossing from the wing. His shooting/finishing is decent too and he does get more oppurtunities centrally.

If we could get someone to dictate the play alongside him then that would be a tidy midfield, i'm not sure Petrov is that player.

  3. Wol - I think you hold L1 as your passing the ball to make the player make a run or do a 1-2

Your right Yillan, It's a good game but there's some really daft things about it that could have been easily ironed out with a bit more testing, I daresay.

Got sacked from Notts County last night with about 8 games to go in the season. I got promoted last season, had got them to the final of the Johnsons Paint Trophy, got to the semi final of the league cup and i was 2nd in League 1, 3 points behind top with 2 games in hand.

Can't help thinking thats Sven's got something to do with it, the swine

  4. Really good display and had 56% possesion. Controlled the game in there half for 35 minutes out the 45 for me. They had a decent spell from about 25-35 minutes but we took control again and had Young and Petrov chances before Agbonlahor's double.

    Now let's hold on Villa!

    Agree mate.

56% is impressive away from home, especially at Fulham.

Ashely Young is looking more like his old self to me, seems to have the beating of Aaron Hughes all day long.

If we can keep it tight for the first 15-20 minutes, they'll have to attack us and that could actually suit us. Can see more goals in this game

  5. This weekend is a good time to rest a few, i'd be tempted to rest James Collins ( can be a bit injury prone ), Petrov, Gabby, One of the Wingers and possibly Milner.

Wouldn't change the entire team as we still want to win the game but its definately a game to use the squad and give Delph, Delfuneoso, Reo Coker, Young etc some playing time.

  6. My Notts County Team, Season 1 with 10 games left ( hard to restart as my other game save crashed )

    Smithies

    Clyne Norveidt Chester Spence

    Damour Sissoko Martinez

    Feghouli

    Ragatzu Mustacchio

Basically i got rid of a lot of my better players like Lee Hughes and Sol Campbell and replaced them with younger talent who were on lower wages.

I've found that you just need to offer the clubs a bit more money than the transfer fee, ( Sissoko was £1.6m got him for £1.9m but he is awesome and worth every penny ) and also make sure that you bump their wages up, as a rule i bump it to 85% and 9/10 they will sign.

  7. Has anyone managed to get any loan deals for players on Manager Mode who arent on the loan list ? Ie Reserves or Youth players from good sides.

My Notts word removed team is lacking a bit of quality up-front and no money to spend

  8. Not sure if this has mentioned before in the post but I think people sometimes forget ( myself included ) how different it is playing full back compared to centre back.

Defensively, i had no problem with him at right back as he won a lot of headers at the back post and didnt get skinned often but his passing and forward play wasnt very good at all. At full back, you generally see less of the pitch and have fewer passing options than at centre back and i think this was one of the issues with him.

If you look at other decent centre backs who have been made to play fullback they never look as comfortable, I seem to remember Liverpool playing Skrtel at right back last season and Downing took him to the cleaners. I also didnt think Mellberg was ever that good at right back either.

  9. I'm playing a MM career as Notts County and i've found that when signing a player, keep putting their wages up until you get to about 80% interest ( you might not need to get it that high but it works for me ). That way, i've been able to sign most of the players i've been after. Also helps if you add on a bit to the transfer fee if your negotiator skill is quite low.

Obviously, your not gonna sign players like Messi If your starting off as a 2nd division team. Couple of decent ones i signed in my first season was a striker called Orellana, a defender called Regeisson (sp ? ) and a couple of midfielders called Damour, Feghoulli and Sarmiento who are all young, are class, and on low wages too. Managed to sign Delfouenso in my 2nd season and he's a beast in League One... ;)
