  1. Interesting stats there.

If you also factor in that he's had the pressure and burden of being the " main man " pretty much since his career began ( unlike drogba who was a late developer ) and has been rushed back from injuries time and time again, it's not unfeasible that it could be another Fowler/Owen scenario with him.

I'm not completely writing him off just yet but the start of next season after a full preseason will be the acid test IMO

  2. He doesn't look properly fit to me, his acceleration used to be frightening but not he looks very very sluggish.

Exceptional player on his day but he hasn't been good for the best part of a year. I'll reserve judgement for now on wether he'll get back to his peak next season.

  3. My old man is a Cov fan and my grandad used to play for them too ( he actually got sent off at villa park too... haha...! ). By rights, I should be a cov fan but I had wisdom beyond my years at 6 years old and made the right choice :D

Even now my old man still comes up with " shit on the villa " talk now and then but can't say they really register with us anymore. If they were to get promoted or the unthinkable happens, I think the rivalry would be pretty fierce though.

  4. Suprised no mention of Lukaku ?

Apart from the ones mentioned already, I've been impressed with ( from the bits i've seen of them )

    Christian Eriksen ( Ajax )

Alexander Merkel ( AC Milan )

    Phil Jones ( Blackburn )

    Coutinho ( Inter )

    Munain ( Athletico )

  5. Delighted with the result, hopefully a real confidence booster.

Must admit, I thought we looked quite tentative first half hour and then suddenly we clicked into gear. Thought young was brilliant in the hole today, took up some great positions between there defence and midfield and they just couldn't handle him.

Notable mentions to Pires, Albrighton, Downing and Reo Coker who all played well too

  6. Ronaldo probably scores better in more attributes than Messi. He's arguably quicker, much better in the air, probably slightly better at set pieces and is probably stronger.

Still think Messi is the better overall player though because he creates more for his team than Ronaldo ( rarely see Ronaldo hit passes like the ball Messi hit to Villa in el classico ) and his decision making is much better imo, he seems to always know which is the best option to take which Ronaldo doesn't always seem to.

    Both phenomenal players though.

  7. I do think we'll see the physical side of his game a bit more as he gets more familiar with the league, his tackling definately hasnt been as good as i've seen before but his passing and awareness have been better than I expected.

I just want him in the middle of the park, getting on the ball as much as possible. In the space of a few games, he's probably my favourite player already.
