When Traore came on, commentator mentioned how Traore said the last couple seasons have been like hell what with the injuries and his creativity being restricted by Gerrard. McManaman responded saying those were just excuses. Of course.

Heard that also, I spat my cider out 🤦‍♂️ can't have a bad word said about his pal, can't stand the bloke or his commentary, absolutely clueless it's wrong we have to listen that shite 😡

Not sure I agree.  The offer we apparently made was to his people not the club and that was very limited sources, if not one source so was it real, an inquiry or what.  His club said several times that not only did we not make a bid, we never even contacted them, that they were waiting for the bid but nothing came.  So we didn’t know how much his club wanted, no negotiations happened and no movement in the final week or two of the window, all for what? So we then wait until the summer? Seems unlikely and then it’s not a good look that he completely loses form and gets dropped.  Hmmm….not sure it all fits imo but I guess we’ll wait and see.  Sounds like a player that could be good for us and he played well with Kamara but to me it’s just another player linked in a window that has gone, nothing happened and the next window it all starts fresh with new links.  Maybe Guendouzi will be one of those links but generally doesn’t happen two windows on the trot but there are always exceptions.

Who knows what goes on during a transfer or bidding for a player, definite interest on our part, it did rumble on throughout January, maybe Marseille didn't want to sell a big player for them during January as in the mix for the French title & it would of needed a stupid offer for them to let him go, probs in the region of what you said £50/60 million & we weren't prepared to pay that, that's why we didn't bid, who knows. He wouldn't necessarily replace Mcginn think he could play anywhere in the midfield like Mcginn can, think he would be a great addition to our sqaud/midfield, still young big, strong, creative, chips in with goals. You could be right we may have identified other targets since January, just think he fits & Emery is an admirer.

Nailed on how? We didn’t  sign in January when the rumours were rife but faded in the last week of the window.  Not often you hear of a player being signed the following window after such speculation the prior window.  His valuation seems to have reduced from the rumoured £40m to now between £20-30m, which is strange.  Now he’s not getting game time either…maybe because he’s asked to leave or his head has been turned or his form has fell off.  If we finish 5th or 6th maybe our targets will be a higher level.  I think this is a far from nailed on purchase.

Just feel this will be our 1st signing of the summer you here snippets here & there from his club regards the very good offer Villa made Marseille for him, Guendouzi has come out in the media on how much he rates Emery & how much they got on at Arsenal together. His form has dropped off & I think it's no coincidence since we went atfer him in January.I have no inside information, just reading between all the lines he will be wear claret & blue next season, we shall have to wait & see

Is Guendouzi still likely to be an option given that McGinn has that particular position nailed down, is club captain, and in form of his life? If he's going to cost £50-60m he'd need to be starting. Who's position would he take?

Think this is a nailed on transfer & would only be in the region of £30 million

  5. This Emery guy we all speak of is a monster of a manager the turn around of these players since Gerrard ball is remarkable. Starting to notice the small things like yesterday when we scored the equaliser in the 87th minute you could see Mcginn's mentality was not to celebrate but to grab the players who were celebrating back to the game so we could push on & try & get the winner & oh boy did we come close on to occasion. Previous managers would of been happy with seeing out a good point, none of that under the current manager. Love this club, love the manager & I'm convinced we will win something under Unai Emery.

I hope people around the team are trying to manage expectations. Looking at the games various teams have left, Villa most likely will end up 8th (bookies agree). Still a brilliant ending if we remember where we came from in October, but with every media in the country lately talking about Villa going to Europe there is a risk some will end up being disappointed.

For me, it’s all about 2023/24. Anything this season is just a very unexpected bonus.

Agreed 👍 it's next season I'm looking forward to most specially with a sprinkling of his own signings. Like you say anything from this season will be a bonus

  7. I think we can bear united next Sunday if we get couple players back from injury united are playing Spurs Thursday night at Spurs then us on Sunday, they also have a mountain of injuries which will help us also, think we can be optimistic about going there & picking up points, the 2 tricky games for us is Liverpool away & Brighton at home in my eyes. Let's see where we are after Fulham, game by game.

  8. Was happy 2 years ago we were interested but I think we've moved on from up & coming players & now we're after the finished article, would he get in our starting 11 now ? Would he get in infront of Buendia or Ramsey ? Arsenal would want top dollar after he signed a new contract, £40/£50 million I reckon specially after not budging on Dougie Luiz last summer. Think will go bigger & better than Smith-Rowe.

  9. Oh I think Emery has plans for Coutinho, those 2 games before he got injured showed Emery was getting a tune out of him, if we make European football next season he will be invaluable to us, I don't see him going anywhere in the summer.

Oh no, not this again (not having a go at you by the way).

Why do Villa supporters not want Villa to get into Europe. We haven’t qualified for 13 years, almost a generation.

Oh I want to get into Europe just alittle thing in my head saying would we be better off having a right go at top 4 next season under Emery & current form. My doubt is being in Europe also maybe to much, but like I said can't wait to be in Europe, think its the pain of all those years not being in Europe. Does mean Emery will have to beef up the squad if we do make Europe, could be some serious money spent 👍

  11. As good as it would be great being back in Europe next season alittle bit of me doesn't want to finish in the European places as with our currant form & Signing under Emery in the summer I think we could have a right crack at the top four & the cups, but saying that anything is possible under Emery & to go full tilt at the top 4 both cups & go deep into a European competition would surprise me 😍
