I think without doubt, Ancelotti has the respect of the vast majority of the players in his team. At chelsea, they loved him, you could just tell. I reckon thats what we need at the moment. Ancelotti has a decent transfer record, alright tactics, gets results, but more importantly, is a name big enough to possibly keep our best players here.

Sadly, Villa as a club and Birmingham are not as appealing as we would all like it to be, therefore we lack the capacity to sign the best players. However, what i think GH is good for is the ability to spot and sign up some good talent, which are helpfully young as well.
If his health isn't good enough, which I have a feeling it isn't, then I think we should keep him on as Director of Football. Or if his health is good enough we need a fantastic and respect demanding first team coach and assistant manager that will perform in the day to day department. If you think about it, all the clubs above us have good assistant managers - Man City, Brian Kidd - Everton, Steve Round and Tottenham, Kev Bond.

I'm afraid to say that K Mac lacked the tactical knowledge it seemed today, there was no attacking structure present apart from the lofted chip ball, which was ineffective. Ireland seemed to just be wandering round lost a lot and young had no striker to aim for as Carew was nowhere to be seen a lot of the time. IMO, Young should have played on the right wing, Albrighton on the left, with Ireland playing behind Carew. Then Downing on the bench and NRC playing alongside Petrov. Thoroughly disappointed, but hey ho, upward and onwards, hopefully.

Who knows but the drivel we are trying to sell wont go , they wont take a paycut , they will see out there contracts just as Marlon did and go for nothing.. We might have to let one of the better player leave. If Liverpool came in for stilian, not sure they would but if they would can you see him turning them done .. I mean he's not a brummy, it took 2 years for the doubts to side with him , he;ll remember this. Ashy ??? why hasn't he gone with the sqaud ?? I have a feelin Twicher is sniffing around.. Has any got knocks for definate
Or they are all scared of flights because two nights ago they stayed up until late watching Snakes on a Plane. Equally as ridiculous and equally as likely as what your saying.

Where has the omission come from? Have i missed something?

Wonder if we should wait now, I think we'll be held over a barrell based on the selling of james milner. People know what we have just made you see.
And its late in the day.
hmm yah, and people may think because we have no 'stable' manager behind the table they can try and rape our bank account.

General, this is my first time in asking a question, yet I read the thread regularly and thank you for your commitment to the club. I was just curious to ask whether you think the current squad will meet the expectations of both yourself and the board this season as it is, without any new transfers (bar Stephen Ireland)?

Now that martin oneil is gone, and wealthy owners potentially coming in for rovers, i feel that the time is right for big sam to do his thing. After he has bought a few donuts he can then get back to football. He should raid villa. Martin oneil was a deadball specialist and big sam is also a fan of the aerial threat and blackburn have one of the biggest in the premiership along with stoke and villa. Now while turmoil is present at villa i think we should buy carew and heskey. They already know each other and will add to the aerial threat. Also ashley young can be tempted aswell because rovers won the premiership once. young has pace and can play on either flank and put the balls in for the aerial threats. i believe if this happens europe is a realistic possibility.
HOW STRANGE. They can have Heskey though!

So Randy's in Milan, but Jol's in Ukraine. Shit.

I have to say, seeing Fulhams keeper jersey on MOTD, i prefer that to Brads

I'm really looking forward to seeing the team. No more MON's predictable XI.
This. Can't wait for it to start now.

BBC Gossip: 1045 BST: Bob Bradley has quit his job with the United States national team and is set to be named the new manager of Aston Villa.
woops.

N'Zogbia handed in a transfer request, i think he would be a very good signing for us.

Can't understand why nobody has tied down KPB yet, he would be a great signing. Get Ireland, KPB, Clyne, Tuncay and Keane in. Send off Beye, Davies, Sidwell and Heskey. Look forward to the season ahead. Sorted

I can only see Jol taking the job if he is guaranteed money, not necessarily transfer but wages. It is well documented that Randy has been reluctant, which is good in the clubs interest i suppose. But i can't see a top manager taking the job in the shadow of three 6th places when they know that it will be hard to get at least 8th without transfers, which they may not be able to get.

Long shot, but with our youth, Stuart Pearce?

I think it might just be Southgate, which would disappoint me hugely. I don't know what is more sad about this situation, the fact Villa could well sink downhill from here, or that I feel as if MON's has just broken up with me :s

Cup Win > 4th > Cup Final
This. As sad as it is, with Man Shitties situation, if we got top four it would be unsustainable to say the least, yet a cup win would be priceless and be a great boost for the club.

I know i am probably talking a bit football manager for everyone on here but i will try and be deadly realistic. Man City are buying and buying yet they can only register 25 people, and they have a squad of around 33, 35? So realistically thinking, fringe and unneeded player will be looking to get out as if they are not registered they will not make a appearance for the whole season (unless registered in January blah blah blah). So if MON was a half decent negotiator we could bag the 25m of Milner (minus salary of 50,000 to the wage bill), bag the money from the fringe players being sold, which would be around 10m (minus around £220,000 from the wage bill) and look to push on...
Man City possibilities:
Ireland - 7m (wage 50,000)
Onouah - 5m ((sp) wage 30,000)
Other Possibilities:
Parker - 10m (40,000)
KPB - 5m (40,000)
Keane - 7m (50,000)
Spend: 35m - 34m = +1m profit.
Wage Bill: 220,000pw - 210,000p2 = saving of 10,000pw
i think your salaries are well out. Believe Ireland to be on around 80k, Keane 65k and think Parker in his last big contract would expect to be around our top earners (probably 65k) and West Spam would want more than 10m. Think you probably need to factor in a few mill a piece signing on fees as well.
The general has stated that one of our aims is to reduce the wage bill. Signing your 5 players (decent earners) and selling one would probably not help with that.
Fair enough, the past 4 days of constant football manager must be taking toll on me as i search for some real transfer activity from the villa :/

This could turn very very sour.
Situation vacant... who do you want as the new Villa manager

One thing is for sure, no matter what the outcome, at least Sky Italia have just rocketed their Birmingham viewing figures up.
