  1. I definitely think Bent can work in a system with the rest of the players, and tbh if we got him scoring goals and playing with Benteke it would be like a 24m signing all over again. I think the key is to let Bent float around getting in to the sort of positions he scores in with basically a free to roam card. Key to the getting Bent service would be Benteke using his strength to create space for him. This has its obvious weaknesses though, if we give Bent the freedom to roam it means for most of the game we will have 10 players as Bent wouldn't contribute as much as his alternatives in the squad. This would mean we need to be tight in defence and possibly play two wide midfielders/wingers that can defend and really put in a shift. Also in the system would be a DMC protecting the defence and a box to box midfielder.

    --------------------- Guzan -------------------

Lowton -- Vlaar -- NEW CB -- Bennett

    ------ Westwood ----- NEW DMC -------

    Wiemann --------------------- Agbonlahor

    ------------- Benteke ------------------------

    --------------------- Bent ---------------------

  2. McDonald Mariga would be a good solid signing. Failing that, Wanyama as people have already mentioned. I mean with PL being ex-Celtic and a fan he must watch them a lot, Wanyama fits both what we need and what we are looking for. Those two wouldn't break the bank and would instantly improve us. I'm guessing 5m for Wanyama and Mariga being frozen out my Milan is apparently available for 6m.

  3. To all those who propose Lambert goes, who is there available that is better to fill the position? I struggle to think of any, and for that reason we should stick with Lambert.

  4. Apart from the 5 minutes after half time, we had absolutely nothing going forward. Midfield were nowhere to be seen for most of the game. No creativity and no real threats up front. Benteke won headers but nothing ever came of it, other than that he was very poor today. Not a good day, move in and hopefully spend some wonga in January on experienced and talented players.

  5. I went to a Catholic school, although I'm not catholic, and it defiantly had a strong religious background, e.g. 2 masses a term etc. In terms of education, if the school has an outstanding OFSTED report that speaks for itself. In my opinion the fact it is a c of e school may round your sons morals more and have a positive effect. I'd defiantly send him there.

  6. I know we're trying to get a young team together and get the wage bill down. What I don't understand is why we seem to be one of the only teams struggling to control their wage bill. Plenty of teams around us and what we would consider lesser teams have sustainable wage bills but have a number of quality players and strength in depth. I don't understand why we seem to be struggling with this when others don't. We don't exactly have a big squad either.

Something I don't understand either. How are the likes of Stoke, Sunderland and West Brom sustainable, while we're not? They all have have better squads, haven't sold their best players in the last 3 seasons and have brought in people on higher wages than us this window. Yet we have a higher revenue, bigger fan base and a greater reputation.

  7. Bumping this just to ask a question. Excuse me if I'm being thick, I'm not a camper :). Clearly there will be no trees to hang up a tarpaulin over my tent. Can I simply lay a tarpaulin over my tent, will that do the job to a reasonable standard?

  8. Simple enough question, don't know whether it merits a full thread, sorry if not. Where is the best and cheapest place to get a gazebo. I was hoping for a 10-15£ one because I will only be using it once at Reading Festival. Got one from Argos last year but they don't see, to have one this year.

If a question doesn't merit it's own thread, we could also take this thread to discuss your gazebo issues. What's your favourite colour gazebo maybe? But then again maybe not, just the question. Cheers

  9. I don't think we will get relegated because

    a) Lerner would have no choice but to pump money in at January regardless if we were in with a chance of relegation. He's not stupid, relegation would not be in his plan, whatever it is.

    B) Lamberts too good

    c) Wehave Given, Vlaar and Bent, none of the teams in the relegation battle have anywhere near this quality in any of their individuals

Ok good points but what if all three players got injured?

What if our whole team passed away because granny Flo put some salmonella in their food at Bodymoor? If all 3 players got injured, maybe I would change my mind, but until that situation arises we should not give it anymore thought.

Plus, if all 3 got inured, I imagine point A) would be activated.

  11. Bad start to the season, but it could have been a lot worse. We passed reasonably, just lacked in the final third. The squad needs a bit of time to settle in and it defiantly needs investment. Player that played well for me were Vlaar, Baker and KEA. Delph, Lowton and Ireland did alright for me and should be happy to build on their performances. Clark needs to improve, but it was far from a disaster. I thought Holmann was a tad anonymous today. Felt sorry for Bent because I think if he had got the service, as ever, he would have dominated WHU defence. N'Zogbia is tough one, had a few good touches, but far too inconsistant to gain positive recognition.

Need to build on what happened today, theres no point complaining. I felt we deserved a draw, but it is evident we still need a defender and winger in desperately.

  12. I understand the fact we should wait until the window is closed, but I can see why people are being negative. The comments of Faulkner when Lambert was hired seem to be plain lies, which is vastly disappointing to say the least.

IMO, a LB, DM and ST/attacking player are a must, if they aren't brought in, 1 injury could be enough to see us facing a tough battle.

  13. Been told that lambert still has interest in ayala at norwich, but wants to see him come through preseason and the first few games of the season before making a formal bid. The lad had a terrible injury last season

MYSTERYMAN - david murphy at blues?

Anyone for ivan klasnic? would be worth a year deal

Ayala has gone Forest. Fancy making anything else up?

 You really are a turd villaonsea
