  1. Meanwhile RL's jet is not planned to go anywhere just yet........

and i doubt RL's associates would travel on a company plan, probably jst get business class on a commercial airline.

I'm sure if there was a fifth consortium involved, they would have by now stepped forward and revealed who they are, the AV06 did so after a few hours of a forth consortium being mentioned.

O'Neill deal lined up two weeks ago

    Aug 2 2006

    By Bill Howell, Birmingham Mail

    Martin O'Neill

MARTIN O'Neill has been in place to become Villa boss for at least a fortnight after being lined up by chairman Doug Ellis immediately after David O'Leary left the club.

Talks between Ellis and O'Neill took place at the outset of the fall-out from the alleged players' statement which ultimately cost O'Leary his job.

O'Neill is expected to be formally announced any day now, with the ongoing takeover talks getting in the way so far.

The fact that Villa's preferred buyer, Randy Lerner, has come back to the table and is likely to make a bid within the next 24 hours should then allow Villa to clear the way for O'Neill to lead the players on their pre-season tour on Friday.

Speculation had arisen of a second American consortium but it appears that it was Lerner's party all along who have spent the last three days at Villa Park and Bodymoor Heath.

Meanwhile, the AV06 consortium have now made a U-turn following talks with O'Neill and will stay in the frame to buy Villa, promising the Irishman £50million to make the club great again.

The Mail reported on Monday that the English-based consortium, headed by top international solicitor Nicholas Padfield QC, were going to pull out if O'Neill was appointed.

They had wanted to install their own management team of Michael Laudrup and John Jensen, but Padfield is believed to have made contact with O'Neill and assured him the group will give him their full backing should they prevail in the takeover tug-of-war.

Padfield will push for talks with Ellis, possibly at the start of next week, but he knows his consortium are playing catch-up to Lerner, whilst Athole Still's consortium of foreign investors remain on the scene.

The AV06 backers are drawn from a wide cross-section of investors both at home and overseas, including at least one billionaire.

They have promised to hand O'Neill a £30million transfer fund this month with a further £20million in the January window.

AV06 were believed to initially oppose O'Neill's appointment as they feared an overhaul of the reserve and Academy system which has served Villa well in recent years.

A spokesperson for the consortium added: "That is now not going to be the case. We have spoken with Martin's people and believe we can work with him.

    "We are looking at a £50million transfer budget - £30million now and a £20million top-up in January."

    Michael Neville

Michael Neville's group are believed to have all but disappeared from the running with doubts existing over whether he has the money in place.

Villa believe his funds are, in fact, in the form of a loan from leading shareholder Jack Petchey which would be repaid at high interest.

  3. Well a friend of a friend (that old chestnut) was sat talking with these new American bidders tonight as he works at the sports cafe bar in Brum.

He doesn't follow a football team so didn't have a massive interest in them, but he did say that he was on 'first name terms with them' after tonight and that they confirmed they want Martin O'Neill in charge.

From what was said it sounded as though they are a seperate consortium to the Randy Lerner one.

Thats all i'm afraid, he didnt have anything else worthwhile to report to my mate. It was in a private room apparently and he described it as 'surreal'.

Oh and just to give this pointless story credibility when these guys are named; Two of their first names were 'Al' and 'Simon'.

Sorry not to call you a lie'r but i find it hard to believe that two americans would start telling they're business plans to a bar man.

  4. Someone mentioned a flight into BHX tomorrow afternoon..

    I believe it was MikeMcKenna?

    Interesting........

Christ, with all the little bits of information we seem to gather on this site, its really hard to not feel happy, i honestly can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

  5. If Lerner's bid was succesfull, Does anyone think he would fly back to England to complete the deal ?

He' wouldn't have to be here, i'm sure he has trusted associates that could do the deal for him though.

  6. Just curious as to why so many people are backing Lerners bid when we dont know anything about Stills consortium. If the rumours (and there are many of em) that the Saudis are involved then financially we would be minted.

I know thats Lerner suppossedly said £60 million for this transfer window and £60 million for Januarys, but then what?

I'm guessing proper development of the training ground and a north stand rebuild. :D

  7. I write this at two in the morning having already been to bed. Cant sleep, have done nothing at work for the last week and a half except log on to VT, my boss will sack me if he finds out. Come on Doug, get the deal done so I can return to normal.

I know exactly how you feel, i work at home from my PC and have done **** all in the last week or so, jst seem to keep refreshing this place hoping for some news.

  8. I think this week is breaking point for doug, if he doesn't sell up then us fans should be baying for his blood,

i've come to the conclusion that doug wanted to hear all involved parties bids for the club, that's why when Lerner offered last week he declined and was seen to 'turn the bids into a auction for the club' i am no way in Ellis's corner but i think he may have now seen what everybody else has to offer (hence the tours given to Sven/Still etc).

I jst hope he has seen the light and sell to Lerner.

Jesus, everytime i read alittle about the takeover i get alitte excited but i should know better not to.

    Please Doug let us go.

  9. I don't think they have, they've chairman said they're interest was over about 2 weeks ago cause villa wouldn't except they're bid, it seems that the telegraph is jst trying to find news other than that about the take-over, and those two pieces are the only recent transfer news connected with us.

  10. Trust me villafan, i'm so glad i trusted nintendo and bought the DS, they're really building up steam with they're new releases.

    I currently own:

    Nintendogs,

    WarioWare Touched,

    Super Mario 64 DS

    Animal Crossing

    MarioKart DS

    Kirby Canvas Curse

    Super Princess Peach.

I will be buying Trauma Centre, Phoenix Wright, Tetris DS, New Super Mario Bros, Metroid and Winning Eleven.

I will also be buying a Nintendo DS Lite, as soon as i've got enough money for one.

If you want games cheap and before everyone else, Trust these guys:Clicky

I've had no trouble with them, replaced a lost package and only paid customs charge when i bought multiple items(including things not games), individual games or up to 3 games at a time don't get charges.

On top of all that, they'res a new zelda coming: Clicky

I wish everyone would go out and buy a DS.

  11. For all those who work for the companies that make em, good, on the whole, apart from sweatshops. For those who buy em... Wear em when you're training, and wear shoes when you're not, or look a clearing in the woods. In my eyes, anyway. But then, it's been years since I've seen the adjective 'fashionable' as a compliment.

Thats abit strong, so u wear shoes with Jeans?

  12. is there any news on the new revolution? ive seen the controllers and the console it looks the bollocks. cant wait for it to come out.

Not much is known at all, there's no release line-up of games, only confirmed feature is backward compatability with other nintendo consoles. ie. Gamecube games will be playable, and Snes,N64,Nes,GBA and GBA colour games will be downloadable from an online network.

Other than that they're keeping it under they're hats.

  13. why are ninentdo creating more games for their DS than the gamecube? its really starting to get on my nerves.

Gamecube has run its life in the west, and are gearing up for for the revolution.

Potentially Legend Of Zelda:Twilight Princess will be the last game for the gamecube and the first for the revolution.

  14. Ill be getting a DS lite as soon as they are out.

For me, the DS shits on the PSP as a gaming machine, and sales figures in the home of gaming, Japan, demonstrate this. The DS is the best selling machine over there bar none, i think its getting on for 60% of the market over the last couple of months. Its creaming the PSP, PS2, Xbox, 360, and PC. Mainly because over there, the general public are more knowledgeable about games and are imprssed by software and not hardware.

proof of this are held here

After looking at IGN, i'm further excited by the DS,

New arrivals in america soon are: Super Princess Peach, Metroid Prime:Hunters, Tetris DS, Worms:Open Warfare, New Super Mario Bros, Turok Next, DS Web Browser, Pheonix Wright 2, Legend Of Zelda DS and Winning Eleven.

Finally PES comes to the DS, i can't wait for it. It's gonna have full online area like for the pc and xbox versions.

  15. DS wins this for me, I'm a huge, huge, huge nintendo fan boy, i grew up on them, so i have to back them everytime on principal.

On a none biased view, the only thing i like about the PSP is that you can play PES, but its not even online so i'd get bored of it quickly.

As for the DS i love you, I only have four games, but i have hardly stopped playing them since i bought them, games are:

Super Mario 64 DS (a classic and playable over and over again)

Mario Kart DS (Superb, all the fun of Snes and 64 versions but you can anyone in the world)

Kirby's Canvas Curse (what the touch screen was made for, a game entirely based on using the stylus, neat control and special moves plus tons of side games and levels to battle through)

Animal Crossing, Wild World (Similar to the sims only better, Imagine sims but with Animals, create ur own town and house, design ur own clothes, decorate your house, work in a shop, tons and tons of things to do. and now you can join someone across the world to get more tasks to do)

There's no arguement for me, the four games i've listed kill whatever the PSP can do, least forgetting WarioWare Touched, Metroid, Monkey Ball, Nintendogs and new zelda in the works and new Super Mario Bros game due to be released later this year.

Nintendo have also developed a web brower to be work as a cart, simply place the cart in the normal game slot, get a wifi connection and you use the internet via an Opera App.

As for people who wish to get video/images/music may i suggest this: Advance Media Player. This is a device that you slot into the GBA hole in a ds, aslong as you have mediacard you can upload movies/mp3s and images to be played through your ds via this cart. Have alook on ebay as they go quite cheap.
