  1. The newspapers don't get their info from the agents. They get it from their arse!

At least 99.9% of it anyway.

They get most of it from agents.

Most of the info printed is just that info from agents, doesn't mean the deal will happen. So many enquiries happen and nothing is followed up, the papers report that.

and of course if an agent wants to toute a player then he'll tell the press that certain club is interested, regardless of wether the club are actually interested but getting his players name could lead to an oportinity because another manager may read it and decide to look into said player.

  2. We just might not be doing anything Tom.

The newspapers get there info from the agents, the agents working for their clients.

If its quiet it might be because we are not doing anything so no agents are involved with us.

Hasn't O'Neill also said that he dislikes agents? and doesn't like to use them, perhaps he's taken to talking to clubs/manager directly instead of talking to money grabbing advisors.

I can't believe we're not making any moves in the markets, and i think i'll have my beliefs vindicated pretty soon.

  3. Sure if it makes happy. To me a reserve player, on loan, who has clearly stated his ambition for another club, is not action. Its a short term solution to avoid action.

What a load of bollox, It's a short term solution to a long-term plan being unable to be put into place. MON's got someone lined up who isn't available, so he takes someone who's talented, young and hungry and won't let the side down while he's here.

  4. I would be very disappointed with Neil Lennon joining us.

It would be a step in the wrong direction.

Would it? We desperatly need cover for the destroyer, and he'd do, short term solutions would suit me if the right players are available for the long-term plan.

Besides Agathe's on his way. So it'd only be Sutton and Petrov of the old Celtic boys club.

  5. theres a theme occuring on this website which is starting to concern me, and that is the insistance that O'neill is under preasure, while it may partly be true. he hasn't been able to do alot in terms of personnel, for me i'd like to give him a season or two before suggesting the preasure is on.

the man is using the personel that we've been largely told were under achieving last season, perhaps the harsh truth is that the players we have jst aren't that good. is there for all to see we need a couple of quality full backs, along with at least a centre forward with probably a couple of wingers in there for good measure too.

Until we're signed such players i'm well and truely reserving judgement. i think a few other should too.

  6. Amazing, we are on the up and have millions to spend, yet people rave

about average Championship-players. What are your ambitions?

Gera, Koumas etc.... players who would never play for Everton and West Ham.

Randy Lerner has millions to spend. It shouldn't be automatically assumed that Villa have millions to spend.

I'd be very suprised if we spent more than £40 million from january till the start of the next season.

Randy hasn't got money that expandable, with a fortune of around 800 million, minus the club purchase it soon starts eating away.

I'd say Randy has set asside an initial £100 to £200 million to spend on the club to get it turned around (including the purchase)

  7. I need a full-back, a centre-half, a midfielder, a wide left, a wide right and a centre forward.

    Exactly.

I personally think that's what we need. and more importantly MON knows that too.

This would mean a RB with Barry in at LB.

then cover for the injured Laursen,

it's obvious we need a backup to McCann

and a couple of Wingers to give us options

plus we need a consistant Goal scorer.

  8. Dear General,

If anything this hard defeat seems to have really brought home to me the size of the job which is in the boards hands, While we have started the season well, this defeat has probably flattered Chelsea slightly but still shows we have a long way to go.

It also brings home the realisation of what a good job MON has done already with this squad and the hightened expectation which goes with it and i'm sure your well aware of what happened last season, and i'm truely grateful that the board brought in a manager that has made me proud to be an Aston Villa supporter again.

I'm well prepared to be patient afterall the only success i've seen in my life time is two league cup victories but i can't help but feel saddened because i felt that with MON's reputation in this competition and our tradition within this cup along with the new believe around the club, i thought we could have gone all the way, but it would have been a big ask of our current playing staff and it didn't help getting such tough opporsition so early in rounds.

I'd like to finish with a few of questions, but i'm not sure what sort of answers you'll able to give us due to it not really being appropriate. (and with prying eyes around. :D)

First of all, Are you aware of the recent stance towards the club from the city newspaper 'The Evening Mail'. i firmly believe that the Wolverhampton based Express and Star is far more reliable when it comes to matters to do with Villa.

Has MON intimated which, if any squad members he'd like to see move on? (i'm not expecting you to name names)

Also is there a set limit on transfer funds or is it a case of martin suggesting players and going on a deal by deal basis of who you can bring in?

What was your reaction to the handling of the James Milner 'collapsed transfer' involving Newcastle?

Do the board have an expectancy of when you feel the club should be challenging again within European competitions? ie 3,4,5 years?

Finally, They're has been much paper talk about new sponsers and a magical £120 million deal, with local companies involved, Is they're any truth to the rumours about the sponsers being local or would the search for successful sponsors strech far and wide?

    Many Thanks for your time.

  9. General Krulak sends:

Lots of questions re. media. We are just now beginning to look into media opportunities...whether that be TV/radio/print. As you can imagine, media is important to us but at this "beginning", it has not been our number one focus. Additionally, everyone needs to understand that Randy is not a "media" guy. He does not have an ego and does not feel he needs to be the "face" of Villa...he would much rather have Martin be Villa to the fans and media. You may not agree with that approach but that is Randy. He is very down-to-earth and humble....not one to get into the spotlight.

Re. the kit design. My sense is that Randy will look at many designs. Just remember what I have said before, he is a real tradionalist and will probably look into the history of the Club and come up with a kit that resembles the "tradition of Villa." He will not put a kit on the players that has not been on the Villa pitch before...it will be a traditional shirt.

    Semper Fidelis, General Krulak

    Hi General

So refreshing to hear that Randy is not interested in hogging the spotlight and maintaining the traditions of the club. As 2007 it is the 25th annversary of the clubs European Cup victory I would ask that he considers an update of the home and away kits from that season and using the round version of the clubs crest.

    Per ardua ad astra

Great Point Mike, I think the majority of fans would like to see a return to the round crest, even if it was jst for the anniversary season.
