A lot of talk about giving them a rollicking at half-time, but Stevie needs to take some of the blame. His team formation makes our defence vulnerable on counter attack.

Ramsy and Digne seem to be a cross purposes today

Watkins looks average. Konsa and Mings prone to too many mistakes.
Buendia, Coutinho and Ramsey sublime.

Nothing but respect for this guy. Has always given his all and made an impact. Whatever happens next, Villa or elsewhere, best of luck to him.

We rode our luck but we ground out this win. Says much about the character around the club.
Buendia had an excellent first half and Ramsey is getting better with every game. Cash was excellent throughout.
Very important 3 points.

Too bad we didn't do jack shit after that one instance.
He's gone, so stop talking about him

Not mentally tough enough. Traore poor. We missed Mings. Ings better than Watkins, but tenacity that I thought Gerrard had brought seems to have gone.

The commentator said Watkins and Ramsey had impressed Gerrard the most in training. I suspect Watkins will be first choice for a while yet (and deservedly so imo).
I like him and there are far more positives, but he loses the ball too often and puts the team under pressure.

We're playing with much more intensity under Stevie G.
Great team performance.
Our weakness is that both Watkins and Buendia, when he came on, were poor at holding the ball up. Been obvious for some time. I'm sure that it will be addressed

McGinn looked like the International version. As did Mings
Yes, for me they were the pick of our players.
Great to get a win. Would have taken a draw at half-time

Remember when everyone was saying sign a central midfielder? Because, well, we really really needed one.
We played 70 mins today with Ashley Young and Marvelous Nakamba in midfield. That is absolutely laughable and a sure sign of a team that will be in a relegation battle.
If you compare this summers window to the one where we signed Cash, Martinez, Watkins etc. it’s night and day. Poor from the club.
Smith is a dead man walking I’m afraid which is a shame as I really like the bloke.
Thought those two played ok today, particularly Marvelous. They were better than McGinn for much of the game.

Has anyone ever explained why Terry and O'Kelly both left? And also: how does Austin McPhee justify a salary?
To be fair Austin McPhee was being praised as having a big influence until we started losing.

Not as bad a second half a performance as might have been expected in those circumstances. But for me, conceding in the first 10 mins, then again within 5 mins of scoring (spurs game deja vu), and then inviting all kinds of pressure in the first 5 mins of the second half tells you all you need to know - terrible game management. Not keeping it tight at the right times.
That's the big difference this year compared to last year - mentality. We've had a number of games where the team has fallen to pieces under not much pressure. Ultimately that's a coaching issue rather than anything else (Terry's departure might have impacted). Also some worrying signs of the positive culture Smith was rightly praised for starting to break down in recent weeks - e.g. Buendia and Sanson tantrums. Not looking good. I'm a smith defender overall but don't see him lasting much longer at this rate.
Good analysis mate

Worked hard and had a good impact. Brave in he tackle, but his physique means he can be be pushed of ball from time to time.

Poor. Our worst player today.
-
Played with a lot of energy. Got round pitch and linked up well and tackled. Easily out muscled on a occasions

We were the better team for 75 minutes. Lots of good performances throughout the team, but were tiring. I thought Smith's substitutes were the right ones, but Marvellous and Jacob added very little.
-
A lot to be positive about.
We bossed midfield.
Defence need to cut out errors,
Ings and Watkins need to learn to find each other

I had an email saying they were going on sale a week ago…
Then another email saying they weren’t going on sale after all
So maybe they will go on sale one random day before the match.
on sale from Monday

Anyone know when the Everton tickets are going on sale?
-
He's excellent. Brilliantly researched
-
Does anyone know how many additional home match tickets a season ticket holder can buy? Thanks

This system might work in Scotland but not good enough for premiership.
